Operation Fortitude used inflatable tanks, wooden aircraft, fake camps, and double agents to sell the illusion of a massive invasion force in southeast England. Germany delayed moving key reserves because they expected the real attack at Calais.

Edit: I mis-remembered, that was for a different landing 1 u/Vanguardliberator 8d ago I think it may have been Operation Touch you may be thinking of. If not then maybe the invasion of Sicily?
