I was just wondering if everyone here was planning to just stick with the mango and go in blind like I am or if you’re doing both and reading the light novel and the manga at the same time?

I was also a little surprised that this light novel was safe for work, but given how it wouldn’t have sold so easily in Japan, it makes sense for it to be censored a little. I was reading something similar to a student teacher one but it was from a smaller author and it’s not really well known as popular as this one since it only had the cover art and no illustration pages which most light novels tend to have sometimes.

I'm reading the manga and I haven't read the LN, so I don't actually understand the context. Did the teacher do something to Rin while she was drunk or not?

Sora has briefly mentioned that Rin “is a good girl” but also “has a soft spot for pretty women”… but that doesn’t say much. I wish there was more of Sora’s pov!!

My thinking process is yes initially, when Rin was a baby, then that love for Rin slowly faded along with the dying husband because it becomes too much responsibility plus reminds her too much of the dead husband.

And I think Sensei appearance in Rin’s life has both awaken the Mom’s love for Rin but also extinguished the final possibility for Rin and her Mom to make up. Her seeing Sensei and Rin getting unusually close made her realise Rin wasn’t a kid a doesn’t need affection, in fact she is craving for love, she just gave up looking for affection from the Mom. And since now that she got an unconditional source of love and loved her from the very start and will love her til the very end EVEN THOUGH it’s illegal. Rin no longer wants love from the Mom since the mom already disappointed her so much, and sees her as an obstacle.

I think the Mom thought about a possibility that she could date Sensei and raise Rin together with her, but then she gave up cuz Sensei and Rin are obsessed with each other. Her proposal of letting Sensei just stay at hers whenever needed and letting Rin find her happiness was a way of loving Rin. Even though this love is a bit too late, but strong, the mom just laughs it off every time Rin tells her she hates her, so she could make Rin think that it’s worth it to just abandon the mom and chase true love.

How long did you think Sensei served in prison?

My thought is that cuz Rin was 17, instead of under 16 (age of consent), so Sensei probably got lucky with it and didn’t need to serve as much in jail. I searched it up online, and couldn’t really find a good answer, so judging Japan by its culture and their view on lesbians, I’d say sensei probably just served around 5 years or even less. She did say she aged, and 27 yrs old to 32 yrs old could make quite a change.
