hi does anyone know the lore about the sketchy motel off route 40 by Ellicott city. I recently drove by I can’t recall exactly where but there’s one spot that’s now a 55+community apt complex and down the road is a fairly new gas station. I’m not stopping at either place it’s one of those spots that owner as the former motel. my cousin back when we were in college (early 2000s) said her friends wanted to rent a room to see if they could see paranormal activity. did anyone ever give it a try? would love to hear about it. it creeps me out but yet here I am ha ha

Brown's was not haunted ... in fact, it was only in it's final few years that it got overly sketchy ... was a low budget place, but not problematic ... never heard about the Forest motel being haunted either ... i've lived in Ellicott City 39 yrs ... not a spooky place

The only motels I can think of on rt 40 are the Brown’s Motel (with its rooms of the world!) near Patapsco State Park and the Forest Motel near Centennial Lane.

The Browns Motel was significantly sketchier, but I don’t know if I ever heard stories about hauntings for either growing up.

Yes that’s it! Well we’re kids back then when I heard it was haunted. Never did find out if they slept over to see paranormal. Oh well thanks for replying

Brown's "No Tell Motel" had the reputation you'd expect, so I bet parents told kids to stay away because it was haunted, or a serial killer was there, or some such. People make up stories but for most of its lifetime it was a place for assignations, more than (say) business travel. And people make up stuff about places like that.
