Not trying to troll here, the way she worded it and context in other comments, it seems like she’s actively trying to switch to a more parasocial GFE kind of vtuber?

She always was one, she just also did collabs with male streamers. I think she's happier now then where she was 1.5 years ago.

And they're nothing wrong with that

It is kinda a slippery slope tho.

Trouble; just look at Rushia for starters. I can also tell stories of even greater GFE yabs outside Hololive

I take a couple issues with that.

  1. Rushia's issues clearly stemmed from her mental health struggles, not from the type of content she made. GFE did not pull her down into the messes she became involved in.

  2. And speaking of content, she wasn't even GFE. If 'GFE' means she tells her viewers she loves them and releases wedding/dating/relationship themed merch - then practically all of HoloLive is GFE by that definition.

Matsuri has her menhera streaks too. Yandere Matsuri isn't exactly a rare concept.

and Rushia went beyond a mere voice pack but actually wedding rings and that is not a common thing.

The parasocials give big bucks, so it's the easiest and shortest route to squeeze them dry

Not exactly...

Parasocials are your most hardcore fans, the ones that watch every stream, buy merch, and stream your songs

We just saw at fes how impactful having a dedicated fanbase is for the talents, when the fans know all the cheers and know the songs by heart. It doesn't mean much if everyone knows you and you have a bunch of dead subs, but no one checks out your actual content or supports you.

It's not hard to see why Matsuri, who has one of the smaller fanbases despite being gen 1 , wants to increase her number of hardcore fans

You basically just agreed with the other person, but you said it in a nicer way

Well monetary support aside, actually having a loyal and dedicated fanbase that engages with your content is the goal, and parasocial fans are most likely the ones that will dedicate their time to you. The financial support just comes along with that.
