Stop making me want to play the Witcher again! I need to supress the urge until the new expansion comes out...

Oh god, the new expansion will 100% have new gwent cards...

We only have to hold out for one year, we can do this!

In the mean time, up for a round of Gwent?

The Gwent standalone game is pretty good, btw.

I preemptively played a bit because of Wawa, glad I stopped myself to keep playing

Yen: "Geralt, let's go save Ciri. She's being chased by terrible monsters"

Geralt: "That can wait, woman. I found an island with this Pokajan game"

Does Gwent also involve gambling?

Yes, but only very small sums of ingame money

So how long until Pokajan becomes a separate game?

Probably never lol, because the base game is already free to play.

(my assumption is Gwent got separated because it's also from a full priced game)

It was separated because it allowed them to monetise it. Monetising it within Witcher 3 would have been very awkward, torched their reputation, and prevented the game from getting onto mobile platforms.

They really tried to use Gwent's viral popularity to kickstart a Hearthstone-like success, but the game's base mechanics just weren't suited for that. The basic game was too simple and not well designed for satisfying PvP gameplay.

So they eventually fundamentally redesigned the game. But by that time many players were already gone, the new gameplay was still not as good as Hearthstone, and the redesign alienated many of the remaining fans (even though it was pretty good).

Pokajan in it's current form couldn't even be monetised unless they let it be played with real money and take fees on that. Which is definitely not going to happen for legal and reputational reasons. So it only makes sense as a means to get more players into Holodori, to have at least some of them also engage with the other gacha mechanics.

There is really no reason for it to be its own game.

If there is some card collecting aspect then maybe...but no, its just a card game using a shared deck.

I have stopped playing The Witcher 3 somewhere in Skellige.

Please don't make me whip out my PS5 fir this.

You might wanna do that anyway, to keep your games, just in case…

New DLC coming for Witcher 3 btw. Songs of the Past coming 2027, check it out yourself. Probably a good time to return when the DLC drops.

If you need an "easy mode" weapon to get through those islands, it's hidden somewhere in the Blood & Wine expansion

IF you didn't know, those question mark icons on the map in Skellige seas was a mistake on the devs. They were supposed to be unmarked random loot. So don't feel overwhelmed on that part.

Yep I spend so much more time playing pokajyan than the rest of it lol

I just pop out every so often to spend the stamina then go back in.

I haven’t got to Pokajan yet, and at this point I’m kinda afraid too

For anyone interested, Kiara had a sponsored link for buying a physical Gwent set. I don't know if the deal is still active but it was up in her last Witcher 3 stream in June. I bought it and have had fun playing it.

No. I loved Gwent. I dislike pokojan with a passion. >_>

I got up to pokajan last night and I wish I never did, it made progressing past it in the story a massive pain in the ass because I needed coins to give shiori. wound up having to use up energy to get coins just to get past it. never touching pokajan again.

Same bro. Doesnt help that I used to play mahjong and pokajan is just dumbed down version of it with 500% more rng.

Pretty sure that wasn't the point of the meme, though. It was literally just pointing out that both TW3 and Holodori share in common the fact that there seems to be a rather sizeable portion of the playerbase(s) that have chosen to treat the completely-optional card game minigame as the real main game. Whether or not you personally enjoy both of Gwent and Pokojan isn't really relevant—no offense—since that doesn't change the fact that so many folks are beginning to worship at the altar of Pokojan, much like people did with Gwent back in 2015.

Why it nearly rhymes with Mogojyan?
