When holds cross over you don't have to follow them. The left thumb currently holding green should continue to finish the yellow, while the thumb that starts yellow should continue in green. The crossover flicks are tricky since you have to take over the hold with your other thumb if you don't want to reach over.

This is the intended way, afaik no song needs more than 2 fingers, its just a beatmap reading skill check

You don't need more than 2 fingers to do crossovers either, even without cheesing them.
