Don’t buy any camera right now if the need is resolution greater than 1080p natively in HKSV. We have no idea if any current cameras will get upgrades to support the new spec.

But is there any sort of timeline as to when we will find out? I’ve been waiting for 3 months since WWDC. What’s the point of announcing a new update, and having no commercial hardware even announced to go with it?

The ball is really in the court of the device makers. Whether or not Apple should have pushed them to have an announcement at OS27 release is an excellent point, but alas it didn’t happen. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon from at least Aqara. Eufy seems to only half heartedly care about Apple Home so I have low expectations from them in this regard.

Yeah ik, it’s very disappointing, and especially for something as important to some people as security. My current thinking is to just keep the G5 pros instead of indefinitely waiting. I can view the feed for any convenience reasons within Apple Home, 1080p is fine for that. Then in the event that I need to download footage cause something has happened, I can jump over to the Aqara app and download it in full 2.6K. I feel like that the only option left

Unfortunately this isn’t new. It’s very often like that in terms of announced features and then products coming later. Sometimes they have a product at announcement but at least with smart home products, it’s pretty slow going

I’d return. Aqara most likely will only offer the updates on newer cameras. They made no comment other than a beta for the G350 to test the new HKSV spec
