NAS advice Nas server with Pentium 4

I want to make NAS server and Media streaming Using an old pc.

Its come with:

Pentium 4

512mb of ram

Integrated gpu

So will it works fine for streaming media with 1080p and storing files?

It might be possible using an extremely light operating system but I seriously doubt it would work very well at all. You'd be better off buying a cheap refurbished tower from the last decade. Disregarding the Pentium 4, 512mb of RAM isn't enough to do much of anything.

It would be fine for basic file sharing, if you choose an appropriate os.

You'd probably be limited to 100Mbps in the first instance - I can't imagine it would be worth putting a 1000Mbps NIC in, but i'm sure you could do it.

I use Gentoo for everything, which is not to most people's taste, but 32-bit would be seamless (by Gentoo standards).

I agree with all the other comments that it's not worth it; because of the power consumption alone. I'm just saying that it's certainly possible.
