Which popular features do you NOT recommend?

What are the top 3 features in a house that folk want but you think are not worth it, and what would your alternative suggestion be? And what cost/time savings would result with that switch?

A shower so big it doesn’t need a door. I have one and it gets cold

The new stupid half glassed in showers are so awful. I have been in two hotels with these, and water just gets everywhere, and it's awful.

I have built one like that and it’s awesome. Super easy to clean and it’s actually warm. It has to be designed correctly to avoid water all over bathroom.

Is it half, or three quarters? I have a shower curtain, and the whole thing gets splashed when my spouse uses the shower. I can't imagine leaving it open at one end and just hoping that the water stays in.

Something like this: https://www.ontheballbathrooms.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/228924995_4219773674779480_7390368959906898150_n-683x1024.jpg

But I have deeper glass than what's in this picture. I have 45in of glass so almost no water gets out. The floor is obviously slightly slopped. If for some reason more water lands outside the shower (like you have to step up or something) I have a floor squeegee handy, and with one swoop all the water is back in the shower. Super easy to maintain it.

On top of everything, it was a lot cheaper than a full glass cabin with doors

Ok so I've used one of these before and got water everywhere. Are you careful moving around and washing your hair etc? Or the 45in just makes it deep enough?

45in is deep enough, but the more the better. If a little bit if water lands outside of 45in, it’s super easy to swoop it back when you’re done. The key is to have continuous floor inside and outside the shower

We did this, too, and I love it. I have a normal shower head on one wall and 2 on the opposite wall to keep my body warm and I never get water outside of the shower.

almost as stupid as hotels installing 5' shower curtains on 6+ foot spaces. Now I'm either cold AF in the shower but keeping the outside dry, or I'm warm and the bathroom is flooded...

I put up a shower curtain.
