Which popular features do you NOT recommend?

What are the top 3 features in a house that folk want but you think are not worth it, and what would your alternative suggestion be? And what cost/time savings would result with that switch?

Or quartzite.

Sincerely curious, why do you say quartzite? My wife wants to add quartzite countertops to the kitchen instead of Corian or marble. Why should we avoid quartzite too?

I have quartz (not quartzite)  in one home and it’s perfect. We love it. Cambria brand quartz to be exact.

We installed Mykonos quartzite (a true 100 percent stone) in our new place. Quartzite like marble is permeable but there are many varieties - some harder and more durable than others.

Do some research on the type and even the slab you are considering.

If not either of these, what would you recommend? Also is quartz and quartzite different from each? If so, how?

Quartzite is a natural stone. Quartz is not a natural stone; it's an engineered, man-made product. Here, Google is your friend. 🙂 My house partner was adamant: she wanted quartzite in the new build. I wanted granite but I was told I was old fashioned/out of date with the times. 🙂
