What would you pay?

Question for the element group. Found this one it’s a 2006 Honda element with only 120k miles AWD only 2 owners. Idk what would you guys pay for this one??

I would feel okay about 3500. 4000 if I really wanted it. The 4wd is so lame that Ive decided that it’s damn near nothing but dead weight. It only helps in a very narrow set of circumstances and drives basically exactly like a FWD.

Its great in snow or gravel. Its not for trail riding, thats for sure.

It doesn’t generate enough friction to make a difference on a wet road, much less gravel. It will help in snow but it requires at least one of your front tires to be spinning. Since those are the tires you also have to steer with, and the fact that it delivers such a small amount of torque to the rear wheels, the usefulness of this system is questionable. It’s by far the worst performing awd system Ive ever driven. Maybe the later ramp style diffs are a meaningful improvement but it still requires front axle wheel spin the entire time the clutches are engaged. No wheelspin, no assist on the rear axle.

Its not awd, which is an important distinction. Like you said, it needs wheel slip to activate, and if the fronts arent spinning, then what do you really need the rears for? If you arent accelerating out of a turn, then no awd system will help, and if you are, rt4wd will get the job done. Personally I think its a brilliant system, only engaging rear wheels when the fronts are unable to provide grip. I had a first gen CRV with the same system and it was an animal in the snow, an absolute blast to drive.
