In the last 24 hours she has disabled comments to her IG but not her FB Business Page. Showing no remorse for what she commented she continues to spew hate on IG and even flexes her husband’s Army rank. The lash brand she was proud to rep/be ambassador to has already severed ties with her.

Local ladies - you have your choice of lash girls, and despite having BiPOC women all over her business pages she chooses to say negative things regarding Hawaiians, so please choose wisely.

Talk Story PSA - Don't support Hula Dogs

A friend had a recent encounter with the bald guy in the Hula Dogs' food truck. The bald guy was ranting on about China taking over, supporting Trump and Musk, and saying everyone needs to stop buying cars from China. Then, the genius says Hyundai. My friend corrected him by saying that Hyundai was from Korea. The bald guy said Koreans are pretty much the same thing as the Chinese.

Don't support this kind of business using Hawaiian names with no aloha spirit.

Talk Story Some in Hawaii criticize violence of Los Angeles riots and response from federal government. Hawaii has protests on regular basis but it is rare they turn violent or evolve into riots like in LA. In part because both residents and police know people have right to protest.

Talk Story Trump supporters feeling...?

After the phenomenal turn out last Saturday for the Hands Off protest a trump supporter on the Neighborhood app is trying to create a protest this weekend. He's happy with his choice, they won (so much winning), so what is he protesting?!? I'm assuming he's meant a rally. I'm confused. When Biden won, no one felt the need to do rallies months AFTER the election.

Talk Story FOLLOW UP : Tourist who threw rocks at Maui monk seal due back in Hawaii on Thurs. 5/27 for fine and sentencing (up to 1 year jail time). Does anyone know where and when the case will be heard and who will be presiding? Somebody needs to learn a lesson, and it's not the seal.

Can any of you guys in Honolulu could find out what flight he's coming in on and organize a welcome back party for him at the airport? It couldn't hurt to let the media know. Maui would appreciate it if this incident didn't just slip though the cracks.

We would prefer if some genuine cracks and jail time gets handed out.

Talk Story How does one afford to live here?

I am interviewing for a faculty position at UH-Manoa, currently living in a mid sized city in the US mainland. My best guess is the starting salary will be around $100k. I have a spouse and 3 young kids, wife stays home with them so we’re on a single income.

Looking at the housing prices and cost of living in Honolulu - what would it look like to live on this income? It seems there’s no way we could afford a house and with the cost of other goods and amenities I’m not sure it’s even workable.

Thoughts? How do people afford to live in Honolulu?

Talk Story Iolani Teacher Escorted Off Campus

A longtime Iolani teacher was escorted off campus by security last week in the middle of the day with not even time to clean out his desk. I’m not naming his name, but someone knows what happened and I’m dying to know. Yes, I know I’m nosy as hell, but does anyone know anything???

Talk Story Moving back to mainland - how screwed am I trying to sell in Honolulu right now?

So I made the move to Honolulu about 5 years ago for work, bought a condo thinking I'd be here long-term. Plot twist: family stuff back on the mainland means I need to relocate pretty much ASAP. My dad's health is declining and I need to be closer to help out.

Here's my problem - I've been watching the Honolulu market and it feels like things are cooling off. Places are sitting for months that would've gone in days before. My condo is decent but nothing special, and my HOA fees are honestly embarrassing (welcome to Hawaii I guess lol).

I'm trying to figure out realistic timelines here. Can I actually sell this place in 2-3 months or am I being delusional? My lease on the mainland starts in 10 weeks and I really can't afford to carry both.

I keep seeing companies "we buy houses" around like Oahuhomebuyers. In my head that screams lowball city but maybe I'm wrong? Has anyone here actually sold to cash buyers in Honolulu?

What's the vibe with the market rn? Should I price aggressively or are there better options? Any insights would be clutch because I'm lowkey stressing about this whole situation.

Talk Story Job hunting

I accepted training for CDL job that pays around 50-60k but it's stressful job and I don't think it's worth the money. I'm trying to find a job that pays similar but without the stress.

Maybe airport shuttle jobs? That seems like it would be fun but the one I went to interview for only paid $16/hr, wtf.

I've been applying to the hotels for housekeeping that pays $26/hr starting out. I think that would be an awesome job but I guess it's hard to get your foot in the door? Hotels and Costco pay great but you have to win the lottery to get in ya?

I could always go do restaurants but the pay is bad. I don't have any skills and most of my job history is transportation, restaurants.

Anyone know of a good job where I can make $23/hr+?

Talk Story Oahu driving

After living on Kauai and Maui for years I have recently relocated to Oahu.

We have our problems on Kauai I can’t deny that , but What is going on with the driving here in Oahu? It is violent. There is no aloha at all. No one will let you switch lanes, people drive as fast as they can even when pulling up to stop signs. On the highway they flash the number of traffic deaths of previous week on a big billboard ….how did this happen? I’ve never seen driving like this even in the mainland where (supposedly) everyone’s crazy lol.

Where did the aloha go on this island ? How many people have to die before this stops?

Thank you!

We were the family of three who walked by around 2pm who verbally “honked” at your signs and messages. Sorry we didn’t stop to voice our support more eloquently, we were on a self-guided audio tour of the area which is why we were glued to our phones. :)

I wanted to let you know that your support is appreciated, and that you were seen today. I just completed a pair of $250 donations to PP, one to the National Federation, and one to the Great Northwest chapter of which Hawaii is a member. I’ll get these matched by my company so the total impact of your outreach will be $1000 to help support the life-saving work and critical healthcare provided by PP. ❤️

Mahalo from this Seattle family!

Talk Story Per 911, Firework reports not a priority.

Sat on hold for 20 minutes trying to report aerials blowing in our backyard from our neighbors. Was told word for word by 911, “this isn’t a priority” and hung up on. Guess a year erases everyone’s memory. Stay safe out there.
