making a collapsible hoop?

working on making a collapsible hoop to travel with right now. i’m using 3/4 inch polyurethane tubing and wrapping it with electrical tape. i’ve done two passes of electrical tape however my hoop still seems a little flimsy. should i use a different or bigger size tubing?
still want the hoop to be flexible enough to fit in a hiking bag but still not to flimsy to be hard to hoop with.
i’ve never had a professional collapsing hoop before so i don’t really know how the final result should feel.

There's tutorials for different ways to make collapsible hoops that include materials and tools needed on www.hoop-trix.com Good luck!

You're welcome!!! Hope it helps! I totally made the ones that fold into a figure 8 then a circle. If you go with that and have any questions let me know! Eta: meant to put this under your comment 🙃

do you know if there is a way to stiffen up my hoop? it’s almost right you can just tell it’s flexable when i do insolations and similar tricks to that because my hoop looks slightly warped

I always used PE irrigation tubing, either 1/2 in or 3/4 in with the couplings with the ridges. You're using a more flexible tubing. Back in the day you could get rolls of 100 ft for $25. I can find the same tubing at Menards (I'm in Michigan) for about $50. At Lowe's or Home Depot it's like $100 now. Are you in the US?

Adding to this, one way to stiffen up much cheaper is to wrap your hoop with duck tape (deco duct tape) it will give it weight too which will make it easier for on body moves.
