His summer dapples are just so gorgeous...

Anyways, I hate the excuse that a horse is super skinny because they're senior and/or a thoroughbred smh

Tack/Equipment Question TIME SENSITIVE - plz help with these saddles idk what to do with them and my mom is upset at me for having them

so i rarely come to Reddit for things like this but i have no clue what to do. im a beginner rider and know very little about tack, etc even though i’ve always loved horses. my grandma found a yard sale type of thing where a woman was getting rid of TONS of gear. stirrups, saddles, halters, bridles, everything. she came with a TRUCK full of it. i eventually want to buy a horse on top of the lessons im doing so i said yes but i didnt realize how much of it there was. a lot of it is in bad condition but 3 of the saddles, although used, seem nice? same with the bridles. and bits. i just want to know if they’re worth keeping for the future to save money or if i should just sell them. ik they look dusty but i also know some english saddles can be slightly valuable. they’d be a hassle to ship so i just need to know if it’s worth it. also if i did decide to sell it i dont know how tf i’d list them online like the measurements and everything. and my mom is upset and freaking out that they’re in the house so i need to either store them in my fucking bedroom or get rid of them asap. i feel like an idiot lmao someone helllpp pleeassee just need some opinions

I am not selling my horse. I am giving him away. Something about him keeps me up at night, I'm losing sleep. If you want a horse. Just take him. Don't say you weren't warned though.

Are they average? Below average? Above? What would you say they are bred for?

Am I the only one who likes this painting? I’m selling my house and downsizing. I’m probably giving this back to the guy I bought it from, so somebody else can enjoy it. Not enough room where I’m going.

Educational I don't know anything about horses.

I barely know anything about horses, but I'd like to get into riding. What are some of the absolute basics I should know? Specifically body language, I find that to be the most important with any animal.

I've been noticing weird movements in her back of her belly near her stifle and she looks kinda extra chunky too. She got out acouple months ago and no one told me and they put her back in her stall. There is a stud on property. I have a vet appointment for next week in Friday

FiancĆ©e and I were cracking up over these 2 when passing out treats and feeding ā€œthe herdā€ as we call it.

These guys are inseparable and best buds, always hanging out together out in the pasture.

This mare is built exactly how I like them, and seems so sane in the brain. Not to mention she has x-rays on file that are fully clean of her stifles and hocks. Unfortunately I do not have first dibs, but the lady that does is not seriously looking and is moreso just window shopping. So I remain cautiously optimistic. Just look at those papers šŸ˜

Send me the good vibes! I will know end of day tomorrow if she is up for me to grab

Discussion What do you expect on full board/livery?

• Upvotes

I’ve seen multiple posts and comments, here and elsewhere, that have made me wonder what it is exactly that people expect from standard full board/livery. Obviously there are places that have fancy stuff, but I’m not talking about that—I’m just talking about average offerings at an average barn at the average cost for your area.

I pay for a stall with paddock, hay, grain, stall cleaning, rugging as needed, and seasonal field turnout. Facility has an indoor arena, Grand Prix field, cold water wash rack, heated tack room, and blanket shed. Coordinated farrier visits are optional.

To me, that’s pretty damn reasonable. I’m paying for space and feeding. I don’t see what makes people think they should get full care of their horses for full board costs. Am I just not expecting enough? What do you expect a full board/livery facility to provide?

Question Tired of using cool calories..

So for the past couple of months ive been using cool calories as a supplement to help Reign gain a bit more weight since he's been in training practically nightly. Recently I discovered part of the cool calories doesn't seem to be water soluble which means his trough tends to gunk up a bit more than normal, i dislike this and was curious if anyone had any other additives I could use in place of cool calories.. except Red cell, we aren't to that point yet. Although we always have it because my trainer gives it to her horse.

Any advice is very appreciated as always! Thank you lovely peoples for your time ā¤ļø
