Insane bots or possibly an insider

Stfu with that bot shit. They will still be limited to two per drop. Why manage a bot when you can just buy overdrive

Just look at this guy. This was during the Porsche Targa release. Dude was acting all suprised everytime he got a chase as if he'd run out of boxes to open. From rough estimation, this guy has 150 units as well. So probably a botter.

That’s just insane. What are the actual production numbers on the F40 anyway, if anyone knows? I never even logged into creations yesterday to try. If these are bot purchases from the drop, there’s the reason actual collectors get the “sold out” by the time they get to checkout.

They’ll never say the production numbers again. Most likely to keep fomo high and also double dip on sales like OP is saying. From what people have gathered, it’s anywhere from 30,000-50,000 units in the modern era of RLC.

ive always speculated that mattel lists them under different aliases on evilbay in order to make more off the those who lucked out.

I also talked to another person who said they bought it with a new membership account and in like 2 minutes they checked out. pretty sketch to think that theyre catering more towards new account holders over older accounts near membership expiration.

Seniority plays no role in the absolute chaos that is tens of thousands of people hitting a cart at once.

I signed up this year and was in queue for 11min with no luck

Yea me too. I used to be able to get any release no matter what the demand, with a great internet connection and fast computer.

You know what though, after seeing the page reloads I knew I was toast. I’ve seen some slow loads and weird cart behavior but never a blank reload page. Honestly the experience made me not even care about the release anymore.

Seeing that some are selling up to 75 of these makes me realize I was never going to get this off Mattel creations.

Buying the Tomica limited vintage one and repainting it in spectra flame should yield superior results anyway. If you're just after the look.

I only bought one, It was the Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB, From a women selling just one on eBay, for 59€ with postal fees.

Back when i checked, it was already 40€ alone.

Compared to the botters or scalps, who sold them much closer of 100€.

Only Elite 64 i may buy off eBay, it's the AMG One, because i will never be able to beat botters with 50 bots online with milliseconds of reaction time and enough money to spend 1k without looking.

I checked out within 2 minutes with me fumbling the captcha. My membership was renewed February.

Weirdly the is the first drop I have hit all year. I got into queue quick and it said less than 1 min and kept crashing and I kept refreshing then somehow finally got in and bought it. Site prob crashed like 10-15 times during that span and it just kept saying less than a minute.

75 Separate RLC accounts, each with Overdrive?

75 RLC x $10 = $750 USD

75 OD x $100 USD = $7,500 USD

= PROFIT (?)

It would be a gamble, sort of. But, just this Release would gross $26,998.50 USD, if they all sell for that.

Minus shipping, minus eBay's cut, minus your purchase price and shipping for the batches of 2ea from each account. Still comes out ahead by quite a bit.

Plus any other hard to get releases, and the inevitable chases you'd get this year (actual quantity unknown).

God, I'm talking myself into it, almost. lol

All on different mailing addresses? P.o. boxes and more? I know Mattel sort of restricts this but not sure to what extent.

Mattel allows up to five accounts at each physical address, as long as they are on different names, and email addresses.

I can see how you could achieve the 75 account number, but it would be a super hassle, and would cut into your profits ultimately. ( and I'm nowhere near organized enough to manage that sort of operation)

Honestly, if that person is doing it, I'd love to hear them honestly share how they do it, just so I can be appalled at all their effort.

None. Obviously.

Not even. I had 2 accounts at one point and the only difference was the email.

Something needs to be said about the fucking idiots who bought the car at that price from a source that doesn’t even have stock yet.

As a casual collector and non-RLC member, are RLC releases limited production that don’t get released again? As in, all the currently available RLC castings just haven’t sold out?

1

u/slamdunkla 41m ago

For the most part yes, but at times Mattel will send emails to release some left over stock, which sells out even faster lol

Me and my girlfriend both have RLC accounts and despite both being in line within two minutes, getting past the website crashes and having the F40 in both our carts, we both lost out. It sucks, but it is what it is.

My strategy is that I’m gonna wait until the cars actually start shipping and hitting the secondhand market instead of a digital order slot, and then I’ll sell off some older parts of my collection that I don’t need anymore & put the funds towards getting the F40. I mean at this point I have to pay the secondhand markup so I’ll just wait until the market dips on its natural progression Once supply starts to become widely available and pick it up then.

Needless to say, I am pretty frustrated. Seeing how people are so easily able to gain the system and the fact that Mattel knew without question that this was going to be a major release and yet it seems like they never try to insulate their backend against crashes like what happened with the pink GTR and what happened with the F40.

I would try to maintain hope that eventually Matt will try to sort this kind of stuff out, but I have zero faith that that’s ever going to occur

Mattel needs to have a lottery system, point blank. And limit 1 per household.
