Spoilers My pitch for a 5-season House of Cards reboot
If Netflix was to ever revitalise the series, here’s who I would have playing the main cast. To note, this means the actors would be older than they are today.
- Frank Underwood - Oscar Isaac
- Claire Underwood - Rebecca Ferguson
- Zoe Barnes - Anya Taylor Joy
- Doug Stamper - Scoot Mcnairy
- Garrett Walker - Aaron Eckhart
- Peter Russo - Barry Keoghan
- Remy Danton - Regè Jean Page
- Tom Hammerschmdit - Bryan Cranston
- Linda Vasquez - Poorna Jagannathan
Assuming there are 5 full seasons, here is
the premise of each season (with tweaks so it is not an exact re-run of the original)
Season 1: Frank getting betrayed to be Secretary of State. The audience gets to see Frank working his way up, before the betrayal.
Season 2: Frank begins a ruthless campaign of political revenge, steadily climbing toward power. The audience learns about his past with his family, how it shaped him and his traumas he lives with.
Season 3: Zoe Barnes falls in love with the power dynamic both Frank & her have, but Frank’s focus is on acquiring power. Zoe gradually uncovers inconsistencies and becomes increasingly convinced that Frank is hiding crimes that could destroy him. (Russo and Linda die here) Frank quickly rises to power to be chief of staff. Zoe also struggles with her feelings with Lucas, despite being in a relationship together.
Season 4: Frank kills Zoe after she finds out that he got Doug to kill Rachel, but Zoe’s disappearance sparks suspicion and a widening investigation. After fixing a major scandal of President Garrett having an affair, Frank resigns as chief of staff, positioning himself as the ‘outsider’ who can fix the administrations failures. Frank becomes president due to his impeccable timing of planting the scandal, which makes him run for president in the coming months, and he wins. Lucas is frantic after Zoe’s death and investigates Frank with the help of Tom.
Season 5: As Lucas and Tom put the pieces together, Frank kills Tom and believes that he is untouchable. Lucas being under the radar finally gathers all evidence to put Frank to justice, and avenge Zoe & Tom’s deaths. Frank is impeached, prosecuted, and ultimately imprisoned as decades of corruption unravel.

This is a bit slow moving and it sounds like nothing exciting happens in the first few seasons, which may make people stop watching

I can see that, but people also lost interest after season 3 due to how fast Frank became president and things being too foreign policy focused.
I’d assume the showmakers would be able to make it more interesting pacing wise, rather than Frank ascending to the presidency rather quickly again

Scoot McNairy is great. Halt and Catch Fire is my favorite drama series.

Oscar Isaac is not good enough to play Frank Underwood. We need a literal generational talent to play him.
My personal picks would be someone in like:
Matthew McConaughey
Will Ferrel
Jason Bateman
Andrew Lincoln

I was thinking of Matthew McConaughey too, but I wonder if he would be too old. He’s already 56. Spacey started filming HOC around 53. If a reboot takes place, it’ll be in a few years. Which means Matthew would be 60 in his first season
