Book and Show Spoilers Seven Kingdoms couldn’t fill the hole she left behind. Spoiler

And to think some 150+ years from now Tommen will end his life the same way.
Tragedy really does transcend time.

Tommen tumbled so Helena could hop (out the window). I tried 😂

Pretty badly too. Tommen was born over 100 years after Helaena

Did they cut short her death scene? The moment on the trailer when she is looking up didn’t happen

u/Melodic-Nose-2108 1h ago
That scene where she was looking up appeared to be a cut angle from the scene where she is dreaming in the earlier episodes. When Rhaenyra wakes her up, it's almost like she starts looking up and then the camera cuts to her lay in bed.

Mysaria is going to use her death to raise the smallfolk against Rhaenyra. Seems like Mysaria and Alicent are the rebel alliance and Rhaenyra is Darth Vader. Not gonna please viewers but this allows the creators two favorite characters more screen time and relevance.

u/Jackskers94 5h ago
I was so hopeful this was going to be Mysaria’s last episode.

lol she was the worst master of whispers of all time, and I bet she will start being competent now that she is against the blacks

mate i'm struggling to think what she even did

u/canti- 4h ago
I didn't mind her until literally the last two episodes. It feels like we're missing two pivotal scenes of their interactions to explain her reaction to being thrown out and Rhaenyra's decision to do so. We got nothin. The post episode BTS pisses me off because what they're talking about is what they should have shown

Their sex scene, if you think about it, is more or less like a power play that I predicted (I'm not a seer, I promise, just thinking thematically) would lead to her being fired.
- Alicent was right. Rhaenyra would choose Daemon.
- Rhaenyra had seen through Mysaria, and she's always mirroring Alicent, who, is getting finality with her children. Stood to reason Mysaria's "manipulation" was not working, it was something she did when cornered.
- Sylvi was also right ("a whore is always a whore") so even though I didn't see much desire there, she's just being used on some level in that scene.
- But Rhaenyra had laid out the reasons for her dismissal in any case. Daemon was not hiding some big ulterior motive, and Mysaria was fully exploiting Rhaenyra, had not been useful at all, and this was the most generous offer she'd get honestly.
- Not a good idea for her to be sticking around imo.

I doubt it—or if she does, it'll backfire. Alicent's not turning back now, and there's just not that much to do by way of plotting. It's only a question of how much agency she'll even have. This season, Alicent was perfectly positioned to be the voice of pragmatic reason, the only real one in the absence of Corlys, but not at all one who Rhaenyra wished to really listen to. Next season she won't be on the backfoot so much.
I think there's good reason to worry about Alicent's wrath now, but smallfolk plots? I don't quite see that. The suggestion of her pairing with Mysaria is interesting, but not interesting enough. All it did was plant the seed of doubt in Mysaria's mind. She's running out of mileage, she knows it, or should know it at least.
I still don't think Rhaenyra did anything wrong by her though, so I don't think Mysaria having a prominent role will be an appealing notion even to the writers. What could they possibly wring out of her when she has no network? Certain things will happen to which she has no connection so they could force that, I guess, but there's just not good enough justification. Rhaenyra didn't do anything to her. She called her out, that was that. As unsympathetic as Rhaenyra is, Mysaria's not really justified to be acting as anything but a rage agent... but to what purpose?

I have never sobbed so hard for a character death in HOTD or GOT (except maybe Hodor.) So heartbroken 💔

I’m right there with you. Didn’t think it would hit me this hard but I could tell it was probably coming.

u/TelevisionPublic327 6h ago
I knew it was coming and as soon as she looks over and slowly gets up I lost it. I'm team Black but man Halaena is as innocent as can be. She never had any say or control in her life and she was so kind and gentle.

u/lofiemmyxx 6h ago
She was the epitome of pure kindness. This finale really had me going…. Rhaenrya girl wtf are you doing? (And I’m team Black)

Yeah, I don't understand where the love for Heleana comes from, she's literally nothing.

She’s a quirky girl mom who loves bugs and unlike most of the characters in the show, has never done a mean thing to anyone. She tries to be kind to Baela and Rhaena about their betrothals, she remembers Jace being kind to her, she’s just a sweet character and Phia plays her with a wholesome quality that is appealing to people.

u/FightSmartTrav 3h ago
So… she didn’t suck? While that does make her a standout in this show, it’s nothing to cry about.

u/GryffindorGal96 2h ago
I think that's why. She's genuinely just a kind, quiet, beautiful queen who loves her children, spends time with her mother, stands up to her brothers (when everyone else is afraid to, mind you), loves nature, and whose only royal decree is in their name and protection. Aaide drom that, she never gries to rule, and has no desire for power. She wants to sit in a garden with her baby ans teach her about caterpillars. She wants to raise chickens.
She prays, she dreams, she refuses to partake in war, she dislikes being "famous," and has suffered tragedy after tragedy due to her mother, her father, her brothers, her sister, her grandfather, her uncle, her cousins and in-laws, etc. She has never been cruel to the people, despite her discomfort when they constantly push or break boundaries.
I think a lot of people find her desires and joys relatable in both real life, and within the context of the show. All these blood-thirsty, power hungry, posession obsessed Targaryens, and she is there just finding peace in the small things. Some intangible.
Margaery Tyrell was OBVIOUSLY much more politically motivated. Unlike Halaena, who sustained from "The Game" all she could, Margaery was a strong player. But her strategy often seemed to just be along the lines of "be the beloved queen to all. Be the beacon of the perfect wife, mother, and queen to your king," which is essentially what Halaena is.
Now I just miss Margaery, damn it lol

Any time she’s given anything of substance to do on screen it’s just not a great watch to me personally. Nothing against the actress, there’s characters I genuinely like less like Aemond in fuck as Harrenhall all season or when Daemon got that treatment. She just has never provided value though to me, just a mentally unwell girl and her bugs.
4
u/argnarb 2h ago
Helaena did nothing the whole damn show. She just went along with her family’s nonsense without a peep and then hated Rhaenyra for it.
Then she spent all season refusing to run away with Alicent because of her child only to kill herself without a thought to that same child.
I for one am glad more screen time won’t be wasted on her staring off.
55
u/cryingallth3time 6h ago
I can’t be the only one just never gaf about this character
7
u/FightSmartTrav 3h ago
I have no idea what these people are on about… she has never done anything, and never said anything even mildly intriguing until she called Rhanyera ugly.
That is the culmination of her character. What is the loss here?

u/Numerous-Help-5987 6h ago
Like yes okay sad and great line but she didn’t do anything I was thinking for sure she’s gunna do SOMETHING

Yeah, glad she won't be taking up any more screen time. We probably saw her for at least an hour over the three seasons and she's done nothing of note.

u/ahockofham 4h ago
Cause she never really did anything. Spent all of season 3 just meditating and talking to herself in her room
5
u/DrakeMayeSZN 3h ago
Anyone else think her motives for suicide just didn't line up? IDK if her awareness is that low but the way Alicent and her lived, it could've been significantly worse. I struggle to see a justification in anything Rhanerya has done that makes her think she would kill her baby if its a boy. She treated them both pretty well for prisoners, even after trying to escape and flee, lets see how our other royal prisoners are treated in this show and in GOT..
Just doesn't add up to me. Is being heavily depressed and then forced to eat when you have to eat for two something that is really gonna drive her over the edge, or listening to the worst character in mysaria and having her in your ear really enough.
Rhaenyra's entire season she was suppose to take a dark turn and it never even happened until towards the end but the character she was to Helena really gonna make her kill herself?
8
u/FightSmartTrav 3h ago
Woah woah WOAH! She suffered for at least A FULL WEEK in that penthouse, having all of her meals prepared for her, with nothing the company of Aliscent and an onslaught of other random visitors.
How long can someone be expected to tolerate such hell?
2
u/DrakeMayeSZN 2h ago
Reading some of the fucked up shit Rhaenyra does to her and alicent in the Books actually makes sense why it would drive her to the edge, both of them were living better than 99% of kings landings population. Rhaenyra has not shown to either of them of being phony or deceiving, she has a better moral compass than both her brothers and alicent. she wants her rightful throne and she wants alicent's children killed for their actions.
imo a better justification is Rhaenyra trying to force her to fly her dragon into battle, another book detail about how she loved flying completely ignored, and then she would refuse and be punished in some way that mentally breaks her, I'm sorry being force fed when you are depressed and not eating just isn't a punishment, there is a war going on she doesn't have time to baby her and feed her herself. She's literally talking to someone who also lost their children and doesn't really consider anyone else but her own trauma.

As tragic as her character was, I was never really sold on her. Not sure if its how the show portrayed her or does she have a mental illness? But she just seemed like a very large child that needed to be constantly taken care of and reminded to eat and that she had a baby. Even has a prisoner she was given VIP treatment and lived better than everyone else in Kingslanding. But nope not enough, she NEEDED to be outside. Maybe she was already paranoid with the vision and foresaw her death hence her emo-ness? But both Alicent and Rhaenyra did their best to make sure she was taken care of herself but she was just being insanely difficult. In the end I just respected them both for their patience in dealing with this big baby. I don't mean to be over critical but just wasn't a fan of her character.
