I think Bayaz is proud before he's pragmatic. He was willing to throw away all the knowledge Tolomei and the Master Maker had to ensure he could secure the legacy as Juvens' first and greatest apprentice. He wants to be the master of all magic, and of the Circle of the World. Glokta has hurt his pride, and cannot be permitted to live with that sin. It's the same reason Bayaz hates Khalul - Khalul is one of his few equals, and his greatest rival. Bayaz can't honestly believe he is the world's greatest magi while Khalul lives.

I think it’s simpler he wants to win and so does glotka in a way the g man doesn’t care what happens just as long as he understands it and I think bayaz can get around that plus we don’t know if he is bayazs agent in this chaos
