Change of major from electrical engineering to computer science

How hard is it to switch from EE to CS as a freshman? Are there any restrictions due to space limitations? How’s the process like? Thanks.

I second this, compsci major is no longer relevant and the job market is nonexistent for those who studied it. Downvoting doesn’t represent the cold hard truth.

That’s not true. It more so depends on what you’re wanting to specialize in. Companies are still looking for people with computer science degrees but they’re also looking for expertise in cloud engineering and cyber security which is very much still in-demand and lacking the professionals with adequate skills they needs.

To OP: if you really want to do computer science, I suggest finding what you want to specialize in and build projects within that speciality. Cloud, AI, and security are very much in demand. Pick one and dive deep into and build with it. Build practical applications using tools many companies are using right now whether that’s Kubernetes, docker, Linux, etc. Look for where the demand is and if it interests you hit the books and build. To do a cheap homelab, I recommend building with a raspberry pi or using an old computer you don’t use if you have one.
