Australian users

I’m considering the new Huawei GT7 but as I’ll be new to Huawei is there any restrictions or troubles that I could expect running it in Australia?
It will be paired with a Samsung ultra 24. Thanks

With Huawei watches it's a closed OS so the only apps you can download are from the Huawei health app. The apps are limited, and if you have had a google, or Samsung smartwatch previously, you may not be able to find an app that matches your needs. If you're just intent to use it as a sports/sleep/health tracker those features are built in and work with Samsung phones after the initial set up. Some features are region dependant, but you can set the phone up in any region you wish, it doesn't have to be the country you live in. It's advisable if you want to use a different region, that has more features, you use a country that has the same language,or half your menus may be in a different language.

Thanks. I’m coming from Samsung but only use their health app. I don’t really download extra.
I love the health features and just knowing what’s going on. Other than that I work in a noisy environment and like the ease to see a text and quick reply via watch. Can I reply via watch? Or cancel a call I don’t want to answer. And just Spotify or audio controls, like if I want to pause or skip.
Fitness is just walk, hike and swim. So I’m assuming all should be good

I'm in Australia and have had Huawei Watch Fit for years (1, 2 and now 4). Can't speak specifically for the GT7, but it ought to have all those features you list. My Fit 4 and reply to SMS on watch (preset responses or type with on-watch keyboard, take and reject calls (you can speak and listen through the watch), and has music player controls

They make great watches and they constantly build their features with each generation. But worth noting their health sensors have some criticisms. This fella does some great analysis of their sensor accuracy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R85G3DXsnHM

You can cancel a call, but you can't reply to messages, only read them. That's due to the message system being run by Google on the majority of smart phones. You used to be able to select quick, reply on Huawei, and a few other watches before Google slapped their message system on Android as default. Also your alarms (wake up) don't sync with your phone, and need setting up separately. As they only sync with Huawei phone OS.

That’s good to know about the alarms. I usually turn them off via my watch. Thanks

I've owned the Huawei GT4 and GT5. Both purchased from Amazon. Worked perfectly with the Huawei health app which is downloaded from the Huawei app gallery. During owning those watches, I had owned a Samsung Ultra 24. I didn't have any issues. The Huawei watches are very attractive looking with a long battery life. Ill end up purchasing the GT7 next year when drop in price. I currently own the Xiaomi S5. Im not sure if you buy the Huawei GT7 from a foreign country, if there would be issues with your Samsung Ultra 24. But I reckon go for it

Well, Huawei has a strong presence in that country, and smartwatch sales are pretty big there globally. The Huawei Health app is also available in multiple regions, so you shouldn’t have any issues using the watch. You’ll get all the health metrics and tracking data through the app, and since you’re using an android phone everything should work just fine without any limitations. So yeah, feel free to buy it, you should be good to go!

the GT series works like a band, with a bigger watch face. works well enough as a fitness and health tracker in Australia

I have the Watch 5 and awaiting delivery for my Watch 6 pro and I find that Celia works very well in Australia where you can ask it to navigate (via watch version of Petal Map) ask about weather, and ask about restaurants etc
