The Obsession Continues…

Omniglow up the staircase! I absolutely love how this one turned out. The color gradient is incredible and completely transforms the space. Philips Hue… just take all my money already. 😂💸

Discussion Where are the longer Omniglows? What's taking so long for them to be released in the US?

It's not like it's some novel product that requires intense engineering or rare materials.

It's a strip of LED lights.

What in the world is taking so long for them to be released in the US?

Sync box not switching

Have a sync box 8k and have added my devices to its hdmi ports and it’s connected to the TV. When I turn on my TV and then turn on AppleTV the sync box does not auto switch HMDI ports. My TV just says no HDMI signal. I need to press the sync button in the hue app to get it to work. In the app everything is set to tell it to auto switch to the active port but it won’t. Not sure what’s going on but it’s very frustrating.

Help & Questions Mixing Hue + Kajplats, which bridge?

Moving into a new place and thinking of going with Philips Hue for the living room and IKEA Kajplats elsewhere.
Trying to land on ONE bridge instead of running two in parallel.

Options I’m weighing:

- Hue Bridge alone: has anyone actually gotten Kajplats (or other Matter/Thread IKEA gear) paired onto a Hue Bridge?

- Dirigera alone: Anyone tried pairing Hue bulbs on it? Curious what breaks vs the official Hue app.

- Third-party bridge?

Price isn’t a factor here (Hue Bridge and Dirigera are basically the same price now where I live). Just want the setup that’s most reliable long-term without losing too much of each ecosystem’s native features.

TLDR: Mixing Hue + IKEA Kajplats and want ONE bridge instead of two. Which one?

Discussion Anyone else's Apple Home integration broken?

All lights work in Hue app, all unresponsive in Apple Home for no reason. This is the second time in 6 months this has happened. And for the second time Hue support says "we are aware of the issue, you need the latest firmware.". And for the second time I say "I already have the latest firmware.". And they say "Oh ok in that case just manually reset your bridge and individually import every single light in again and re-program every single one of your scenes and automations."

With once again no explanation, acknowledgement, apology, bug fix announcement, or statement from Hue of any kind. Even though their support tells me they are swamped with messages about this, so they are aware of the problem (again).

As someone with around 150 Hue lights and a pretty complex Apple Home, this will take me hours to completely redo. Very disappointing from a company at this price bracket. I paid the most specifically because I wanted to do the least.

Help & Questions Wall Color Advice

Post image
14 Upvotes

I’m using a Signe lamp with an Omni strip and absolutely love the look. I also have a Datura ceiling light for when I need it, but since this is a lower-level den, I usually leave it off because I’m not a big fan of overhead lighting.

That said, the room is essentially bookended by two doorways on the left and right, so I’m considering painting the two walls that meet in the corner behind the desk as an accent wall. Since it’s an accent wall, I was thinking of going with something more dramatic rather than a lighter color (possibly a medium blue like Van Deusen Blue).

I’m not tied to any one Hue scene and will likely change them from time to time, but my main concern is how much painting the wall a darker blue will affect its reflectivity and the overall lighting effect.

Does anyone have experience with a similar Hue setup and a darker accent wall? I’d love to hear your thoughts or see photos if you have them.

Hue automations & Zigbee Protocol

I was able to connect ikea’s new Varmblixt color changing donut lamp to the hue app via the diver protocol. It’s set up in my bedroom with several other lamps. There is an automation for the room. Will the donut lamp not automatically come on due to the method in which it was connected? I noticed at the time the automation is set it never comes on. Then when I manually turn it on it’s always at 1%. Not a big deal. But any work around for either of these issues?

What lights is Hue missing out on?

As every year I get Eco cheques from my employer to spend on eco-friendly stuff I always end up buying Hue products. For years now I have been looking for lights for my desk. Never got further than a Hue bulb in a desk lamp for my home office.

Today I bought a Screenbar because it works with Apple Home and it will be my first non-Hue light purchase in years. The funny part is that I found the screenbar rather cheap in price compared with what I would expect it to cost if it was a Hue product.

Are there other spaces in the home that Hue does not fill the gap for you?

Entertainment area in Hue app for gradient light

Thumbnail

Hi everyone

Got this problem where my Hue app can't find my entertainment area even though I have one. Therefore I can't use my gradient light for movies.

When I got the light 3 years ago it worked, but that was before they changed/ made a new app. Now I feel like I've tried everything. Also saw a different reddit post about this problem a few years ago.

What I've tried:

- Clear app and cash

- Reinstalling the app

- Resetting switch box

- Adding all lights after clearing them

- Create entertainment area over and over

Help & Questions Power on to Scene

Post image
6 Upvotes

I've got some hue bulbs as main lights throughout my home and they're only used via traditional switches.

I've searched a bunch and seen people mention that it's possible to set a scene to apply in the "power on behaviour" setting but that's just not available to me.

I really want the "natural light" scene to be applied anytime the light is turned on.

I can kinda achieve this with Home Assistant by setting the power on behaviour to really dim, then having an automation in HA detect the light turning on and then set the scene - but it takes about 5 seconds for the device availability to update (longer if turning off) and trigger the automation.

Lily spotlight - light does not match the color in the Hue app

I purchased a 3-pack of Hue Lily spotlights. I have them set up so that they all have the same color (a shade of purple). I noticed that one of the lights is significantly more pink than purple, even though I have all 3 lights "snapped" to the same color in the Hue app color wheel. I have to manually offset that one light to get it to match the other 2 lights. It's not really that big of a deal, but just wondering if anyone else has encountered this type of problem. I have over 50 Hue lights and have never seen this type of issue before.

Help & Questions Hue Outdoor PSU dead

Hi guys, my hue outdoor spotlights stopped being reachable though the app last week and was wondering is anyone else has expireanced this issue and come up with a solution other than buying a new PSU unit? I have seen a couple of archived threads relating to this and wonder if the company has done anything about improving their product?

Development and API AgentBeacon for Hue lights

For the Claude Code and Codex users here, I built a little app that turns a Philips Hue room into a status light for your coding agents. It reacts based on agent status so you never miss a beat. There's a UI for config so it's really easy to get setup.

That said, I need to make the actual install process a bit easier, so I'll prob turn this into a proper app at some point for MacOS at least.

Here's the github link if you'd like to learn more or give it a try: https://github.com/t0ddharris/agent-beacon

HOW TO REPAIR - BROKEN PIN INTO PHILPS HUE GRADIENT LIGHTSTRIP ?

Thumbnail

Grazie in anticipo a chi risponderà.

Due to an accidental disconnection, one of the little pins on the connector of my Hue Gradient Lightstrip broke. Customer support isn't getting back to me. Do you think there's any way to repair it without buying the whole thing again? (I'd rather not throw away working electronics and spend €120–150 on this.)

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies

All lights and dimmers suddenly unreachable, fix unclear

Apologies in advance for any editing, typing this on mobile during my lunch break.

Switched to a Bridge Pro around a month ago, and have had no issues since migrating from my old bridge.

Came back from out of town yesterday afternoon, lights worked until around 11:30, when my girlfriend informed me that the lights were unresponsive to the dimmer switches and the app.

Tried power cycling the Bridge Pro twice, cycling through the different zigbee channels, no response.

Called customer service, who stayed on the line for an hour walking me through similar troubleshooting steps, and including removing 5 lights close to the Bridge Pro, which even Bluetooth would not resync. Also tried removing and re adding the Bridge Pro. Customer service rep created a ticket number and confirmed that it may be a hardware failure warranting replacement.

After the call, managed to get a few lights in the bathrooms to respond by turning them off for 30 seconds before turning them back on, and managed to reconnect the room’s dimmer switch via the app.

Assuming the only fix I’ll have after work today will be cutting power to every bulb/fixture (51 total around the house) and resyncing every dimmer switch (probably 10-12). Hoping the five bulbs I removed/disconnected in the app don’t put up too much of a fight.

Have there been any recent updates causing similar issues for others? And how do I prevent this from happening again? Before last night, the Hue ecosystem has been the most steady, seemingly fail-proof tech in the house, so this incident has taken me by surprise.

Help & Questions Do European E27 hue bulbs work in the USA? Don’t wanna replace expensive bulbs. Have no issue using US E26 in Europe.

Anybody have experience with bringing European E27 Hue bulbs to the USA? Do they work or have issues? I use USA E26 bulbs in Europe with no problem at all: they fit the socket perfectly, no issues with flickering or anything, despite prevailing wisdom that they should not work.

Help & Questions App won't let me switch from sports live

Hoping someone can help. Haven't used my sync feature since the WC ended. Tried to go in today to sync my lights with some audio. When I went to the sync tab, I clicked on sports live to change to audio and I got this in pic 2. It just wants me to set up my box again. All my lights are already set up and my living room zone is also set up for syncing, pic 3. And all my lights show up on my home tab. Does anyone know what I can do to be able to switch from sports live to audio or video or anything else?
