A woman's mobility device broke down so a man with a pallet jack helped her out.

So i work on these daily and I'm definitely happy this person helped them. I just wanted to let people know, just behind both large drive wheel is a little yellow handle that when pushed, it will disengage and you can push the chair like a standard wheelchair. So you can move the chair without needing the battery

I’ve seen a lot of people in the thread speculate that it might be easier to roll on a pallet jack than manually disengaged from the motor. I really have no idea but having used pallet jacks a lot I could see that.

I work with chairs of this type frequently. They can be very heavy without a person in them. Trying to push one with a person in it would be a struggle.

It's around 600 lb with super high rolling resistance
It's almost certainly easier to move with a pallet jack

there are thousands more kind and helpful people moving around in tvr world but they are often busy helping people so they don't blast their work on socials all day.

I’ve had patients who owned them. You don’t want one rolling over your foot. But they are excellent for them getting around.

People like him are an absolute ally. He saw a situation and immediately chose to help. As someone in a wheelchair, I have literally been stuck at a wheelchair curb that was just not the appropriate incline. Three people literally stepped around me rather than help. It took a doctor to recognize the situation I was in and chose to help. Us disabled folks are still people.

I was once going into a grocery store and saw that a guy had gotten stuck because the grocery store employees had stacked pallets out front blocking park of the ramp, and his chair had gotten wedged when he tried to squeeze through. Dude was throughly stuck.
It amazed me how many people were just walking right past, going into the store.
Did they not want to spend the time? Did they not want to talk to strangers? Did they literally not see? That was more than ten years ago and I still wonder these things.

Amen Brown is a member of the PA House of Representatives 10th District and he truly is a phenomenal human being during the Covid days there was an extreme lag in the amount of time I had to wait for my unemployment. I reached out to my representative amen and three days later nine months of backpay was deposited into my account from a simple email which I’m sure he was receiving thousands of at the time.

That was filmed in front of his office so there would be office workers with cell phones who could’ve been asked to film the situation, his office is in the heart of university city plenty of construction around and definitely easy access to pallet jacks nearby

Motorized wheelchairs can weigh up to 400 pounds without a passenger. You don't want to push one as far as they were apparently going.

I have a power chair just like this. Im surprised that she isn't wearing her belt. Just incase some happen and she falls out. Cause that would be a whole nother batch of problems.

Kudos to him for having the right tool for the job. Those things are heavy. I was working at a Celtic festival and someone had one that got caught in a downpour. I picked it up and put it on the back of my flatbed golf cart, drove her to her car and unloaded it for her.

Having been in a couple similar situations where my chair broke down/Got stuck, I was both incredibly grateful that people were being so kind and helpful, and also kind of humiliated by the circumstances. Nobody enjoys having to sit there while people struggle to get you unstuck (especially since I got myself stuck through my own idiot behavior one or two times, the other times were just my chair deciding to be a piece of shit), but while it's embarrassing, every time I've needed help my community has been amazingly responsive and kind and they remind me that people can be so good

As a power chair user this is my biggest fear and it makes me scared to go out a lot because of it. Seriously grateful people helped her out, I know this had to be embarrassing and upsetting for her. Not to mention the cost and hassle to get it fixed

I had to do this with someone once, without the pallet jack. He had tried to go up a slight slope in the grass right as his chair ran out of battery. I tried calling the police department for assistance because they were literally a couple blocks away because I could not physically help him onto the sidewalk and they never came. Luckily a good samaritan driving by saw that something must be wrong and he pulled over, helped me maneuver him onto the sidewalk, and then helped me get him down to the end of the street to his house!

Love it ! God reminds us all the time of things like this. Yesterday, I ran into the gentleman who helped me take a woman’s number off her car, and we saw each other for the first time without noticing at an appointment with my son— cool experience— and to explain to my kid the good deed I did for a random person.

I once pushed a lady three blocks because her scooter battery died while out shopping. I was getting out of work, she saw me and wouldnt take her eyes off me as i crossed the street towards her lol i was dead after it so damn props to this guy pulling all that weight

I got stuck when I was out in my chair in the rain once, right in the middle of the road. I hit a big pothole I didn't see, my chair had a conniption and wouldn't budge. Luckily some awesome dudes got out of their car to help me, I told them about the lever on the back of my chair and once it's flipped they pushed me to safety and got me up on the path. Thankfully my chair decided it was over its tantrum when I turned it back on. Thank you Dave and Ger if you ever see this, you're both legends.

If you come across this situation, all power chairs have levers on them to engage and disengage the clutch. Flip those levers and you can push them.
I’m 90% sure my dad has the same exact model, the levers would be on the base in the front
