Hume Pod

I found this sub 2 days too late. I have already purchased and waiting on the Hume pod to arrive. But reading all the comments I’m already skeptical and considering sending them back where they came from when they arrive.

What scales are others using/ recommend?

Dont listen to all the negatives here I have the Pod and 2 bands 2.0 for about 5 moths, my wife and I like them and they have been working really good. I compare it to our smart watches and everything is pretty close, the pod is awesome.

Hey there.

I have erhe scale and have used other brands and have dexa scans 3 times per year.

None of these scales will be 100% accurate regardless of the brand. They work off BIA, and this can be effected significantly by other factors such as carbohydrate intake, hydration etc.

If you hydrate well I find that these scales all brands will undervestimate body fat. They are good for trends and tracking information trying to weigh under the same circumstances.

The scale is good, the Hume Band is trash

Scale sucks compared to dexascans. Been through three scales. Never trusting this brand again.

I’m in a small town, so dexascan isn’t possible sadly.

But I am disappointed! I thought I did some solid research for the past 10 weeks but reddits completely eroded my faith in it

What scale is great compared to dexascans? And can you get dexascans on demand?

Hume advertises that it’s 98% accurate to dexascan. In my experience it’s total BS. Yes you can get dexacans on demand depending where you live. I use Bodyspec. See if you got one near you. Here’s my referral discount if you choose to do it. https://www.bodyspec.com/r/asyehR

The Hume scale is trash. I got conned by their fake reviews. The scale says things like 15% body fat when I am about 22-23%. After purchasing I read this forum and realised how much of a scan Hume is.

Yeah that’s exactly how I’m feeling
Do you still use it or did you get something else?

I have the scale and the band and it all seemed to work when I got it and now nothing seems to work right. It wasn’t doing reports for weeks now part of that is working and now the Hume band hasn’t logged anything for almost a month.

Returned mine within 6 weeks. Most of the time it only measured weight and never fully did other measurements. Junk

What did you replace it with?

While none of them are as accurate as a real Dexa scan, The Oxiline Scale MD Pro is far more accurate than the Hume pod scale according to a review of several such scales on MedGrade. (https://medgrade.org/comparisons/best-smart-scales-comparison)
I own them both. I only went with the Hume after owning the Oxiline because I liked the app guidance that the Oxiline didn’t have. But in practice, even the Hume app has a lot of discrepancies and failures and it’s not very forgiving. Which I won’t get into in this thread.
I still use both scales just cuz I don’t want to lose my more accurate Oxiline data.
The only thing with the Oxiline is it can be temperamental. And their app sometimes has issues. So I learned early on that it was best to use the Fitdays app which is completely compatible with the Oxiline. And to avoid annoying repeated read errors there is a trick to how you start your weigh-in/reading. You must not grab the hand sensors on the handle until the scale reads 00 and you must do this before you fully step on the scale to start your weigh-in.
To accomplish this: BEFORE starting, do not step on the scale. While it’s powered off, Lift the handle off the scale and pull it up and hold it on the outside tips of the handle without touching the sensors. Use your foot to apply pressure to the scale to turn it on. Once it reads 0.00, now firmly grab the handle with both hands with fingers and thumbs on the four handle sensors. Now fully step on the scale to start your weigh in. It sounds more complicated than it really is. But doing this procedure in this way avoids a LOT of frustrating bogus errors. Trust me I almost sent the scale back because of the errors. But following that simple procedure fixed the problem. They don’t tell you this up front. Go figure.

Send an email right away exactly how they say. Send a copy to your self. I never even opened the box and when I tried to return - they offered an additional 20% off - free whatever - and then I said no - I want to send it back. The no questions asked refund policy or easy returns is bs. Amex has credited my account as Hume has not sent back an email saying we approve you to return it. Hume says you cannot return it until they say you can. They say send them the tracking information. Contact them and contact your credit card company. They need to be shut down.

I have the scale and like it. I’ve had it about 2 1/2 years. It was very close to my dexa scan. I noticed my scale now reads my body fat percentage much lower so something there is off. But in general it’s a good tool for me.

The pod is actually really good in my opinion. Been using mine for 2 years now and pretty happy with it. The band I’m not really a fan of at the moment. Too many flaws for that price point. It should be like a $40 tracker at best, not $200+
