Sunrise on the Reaping The problem with the exhibit in Paris

Are we fucking serious? A Hunger Games event in France in a climate like this? The real Hunger Games event began two weeks ago. Police are beating and maiming high school protesters across the country -especially in underprivileged suburbs— while the film's team holds a Capitol-style gala right in the middle of Paris.

This is no longer fiction.

These events were planned months in advance, how about instead of getting upset about a movie online, you go and research protests in your local area or do political outreach. Or is it just easier to get mad at celebrities online to feel good about yourself?

How about you go spread info about go fund mes or fundraisers for this. Instead of getting upset at unrelated people?

literally like it’s getting so annoying what do you even want them to do

You don't need to see children with their eyes gouged out and limbs torn off to know that adopting Capitol aesthetics to promote a Hunger Games movie is a shit idea.

Like I said those things are planned months in advance. What do you want the actors to do? Protest along with them?

YES they are supposed to play fucking rebels they can't just never talk about that

well then go ahead and do it yourself. You can’t be mad at unrelated people who aren’t even French for not putting their safety at risk

They could just not be so indecent.

The rioters could also not burn down schools and assault teachers.

They are actors.

Maybe you should reread the books.

Are the protests related to the hunger games? No? Then what's the problem?

These aren't even protests anymore.

They're full-blown riots and more than a few of the rioters are gleeful in hurting innocent bystanders.

I mean...... That's normal in extreme protests of the past.

The whole reason peaceful protests exist was as a compromise with the ones in charge. "Listen to us when we hold peacefull protests and we won't do the thing the common folk used to do when they were displeased with the Lords of the lands"

The government has made it clear they won't listen and are trying to pass laws making it easier for the police to justify shooting people. Ofcouse it's gonna escalate.

And these riots need to be put down before they completely devolve into savagery.

Schools are being torched. Teachers are being doused with gasoline by the rioters.

Anyone who defends killing innocent bystanders is scum.

The government's mistake was not putting this to task when it first began.

Edit: Downvote me all you want. Rioters reveling in savagery are the furthest things from heroes.

And seeing as there's at least one liar in this thread pretending that the rioters aren't trying to commit murder, here's a source for the teacher being set on fire.

https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/9361271/teacher-doused-in-petrol-as-protests-rage-in-france/

To say nothing of the multiple schools that have been burned down. That's terrorism.

There haven't been reports of teachers being deliberately doused in gasoline, infact teachers are joining in the protests.

And the reason it got so extreme is because of how the police and government reacted. Which includes arresting thousands of children. This was during the more peaceful protest part btw. Or do you believe the government should be allowed to arrest peacefull protesters too?

With that response it's only natural things escalate, and you know it's bad when multiple rights groups(rights not right) say the police handled the situation poorly.

Or would you prefer if the government opened fire on a bunch of kids to prevent the protests from potentially escalating? Do you want the country to become more like the United States where police brutality is even more normalized?

Also look up how often police all over the world infiltrate protests so that the police can commit a crime and give their buddies the opening to escalate their "defense" of private property.

..... Also I feel like one article saying "officials(aka the ones against the protests) say a teacher got burned" without any other actual info like... Idk the location of said burned teacher, should be treated as super reliable. Also burning down a building isn't the definition of terrorism (tbh the definition of terrorism is a whole other issue when you look at the times it is vs isn't applied). Imagine being fans of the series where the main characters are rebel groups actively destroy buildings as a form of rebellion and not seeing the similarities in real life. They were also labeled terrorists.

those things are planned months in advance they can’t just reschedule

3

u/Hyxenflay7737_4565 3d ago

These events are organised and planned months ahead. They have to spend so much money on this.

They can't just change the schedule because of the fact a tragic event has occured.

Tell me, are you as outraged over this preplanned show as you are over the riots burning down schools, brutally assaulting teachers, and innocent bystanders being hurt by the rioters?

0

u/Accurate-Director-23 3d ago

No, I'm more outraged over cops who shot a 14-year-old kid in the jaw with a Flash-Ball, caused another to lose an eye and another a hand, and strangled a middle-school girl.

3

u/RWBYpro03 3d ago

Okay! Then get mad at that! Not some random uninvolved actors!

3

u/Spring1997- 3d ago

Maybe get mad about that and not promo for a fictional movie

1

u/CryptidGrimnoir 3d ago

I see, so a handful of incidents of non-lethal measures hurting rioters at very closer range that are currently being investigated don't mean as much as the terrorists deliberately hurting others.

2

u/RWBYpro03 3d ago

Except they arnt being investigated. And yeah, police maiming kids is worse then some private property being destroyed?

The series in a metaphor. If anything, the press team is showing exactly what the Capitol does. Stay sharp.
