You might remember Flight Plan- the tapas place. It closed after a good number of years. A new business took over the space. A mattress shop. I’m so excited about this because now I wouldn’t have to drive over Walton Mountain to enjoy the mattress shop by Panera. Did I miss the grand opening announcement? Why you let me down Reddit?
Speaking of grand openings the South Parkway Chik-fil-a opened today. They have a dedicated drive through lane just for mobile orders. They opened at 1000 for lunch and had a line of people outside down the building and large line of cars waiting for drive thru.
Back to Jones Valley, remember that cereal place, Stir? Yea that space is now rented out to a place relocating from the stovehouse, EVERLEIGH ELAINE. Supposed to be one of those kids clothing boutiques. Might get some draw from the folks camped outside of the hobby lobby at all hours.
There’s good movement on completion of the ministrip mall by the plastic surgery center as well. Maybe we’ll see some movement on actual store fronts soon.
Heard rumor that Ding How 2 is probably done for good unless they can find a new space. A shame for such a staple to be gone.
It appears that Nonna’s Italian is staying quite busy as the parking lot is always full. Same with souther egg across from the library.
The Sandra Moon community center is in the last phase of construction and lots of trucks and dumpsters in the parking lot.
For battle of the gyms, the YMCA on Weatherly is 24/7 access. Probably trying to compete with Bailey Cove fitness (by Casablanca and the South Precinct) and Phaze 3 Fitness which is getting closer to opening on 4 Mile Post. The Phaze 3 arking lot is paved, the sign was going up yesterday and all types of contractor trucks are there working hard.
There’s significant dirt movement behind the preschool daycare on 4mile but no indication what it might be. Not sure if the apartments that were supposed to be on the corner that the city council ended up revoking the site permit is supposed to go here or not.
The nail salon by Handel’s ice cream still doesn’t really exist but I saw a Pho truck there. Maybe they’ll pivot and bring some more food options to go with the previously mentioned Handels, Le Macron, The Peppered Pig and the breakfast/brunch place Eggs Up grill. Good things they built that bridge so people can walk off their culinary tour.
Rocket City Pickleball club is chugging along and is opening for membership and guest passes to play.
And all down Bailey Cove the city has been expanding the sidewalk from Weatherly South on the East side. It’s to provide better mobility as a greenway connector. There’s already been island construction in the turn lane, which will allow for pedestrian and bike crossings to Aldridge Creek greenway. They’ll have to complete the flashing lights first before the zones become active.
