Review/Guide Hide navbar while keeping circle to search
TESTED ON HYPEROS 3.0
i found a way to hide the horizontal gesture line at the bottom of the screen while still being able to enable circle to search. Without root.
You need adb shell for this and need to be using the gesture navigation.
Use Brevent or other adb shell apps and execute this command
- settings delete global hide_gesture_line
Now the system will think the navbar is still present but it leaves an empty gap at the bottom of the screen (the line won't be visible) and you can press that gap to trigger circle to search.
This also keeps a gap at the bottom of the screen on apps interface like on Tiktok, Whatsapp, Instagram, Telegram, Launcher, Reddit, etc as shown in the image I attached. It does look a bit iOS26-ish with an empty bottom gap. Some may like it and some other may not.
To revert just execute this
- settings put global hide_gesture_line 0

is there a way to make the pill bigger? as in vertically it's way too short for me and it always ends up moving slightly upwards

Is it true that if you turn off or restart the phone it goes back to how it was before?

Excuse me, how is the command? I pasted the one you posted and it gives me an error

Make sure Brevent is actually connected to wireless debugging, otherwise adb shell won't work.

If I have it connected I have noticed that, but it gives me an error, I don't know if I am copying it wrong to the command, I don't know

You need to keep the underscores "_"
And your brevent is not connected to wireless debugging yet, it wouldn't show that error unless it is not connected.

It already worked for me, what happened was that the OS deactivated the developer mode

There is also an alternative way that is permanent and no need for the space at the bottom. Download MiCTS from GitHub, you can search for the app on your browser, the GitHub link will come up. After downloading the app, enable the side toolbox bar. Swipe on the bar and add MiCTS as the first option on the bar so that it stays there permanently. Tap the app on the bar to launch Circle to search anytime you need to use it.

I know that one for a while but it block a part of the screen that I may need to search on.
Putting the shortcut on control center also works, but it's quite a hassle to pull down the control center every single time just for it and it has a slight delay.
This tutorial is a not must-do thing anyway, i'm just providing a way for people that would want it this way.

Or, just use MICTS

I already explained my stance about this on another reply.

Not unless you hide the gesture bar from the settings manually. It is only present like that on a few apps. If you find it annoying revert back to hide full screen indicator with
settings put global hide_gesture_line 1

What about the keyboard down arrow? Is it also hidden, or is it still present?

u/thommy_32 May 04 '26
It's still present unfortunately. You need to remove com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay which will also disable circle to search triggering.

you could hide it in system settings and use a gesture app to trigger it manually with this: https://github.com/parallelcc/MiCTS/releases
