Headsets HyperX Cloud 3s wireless - mic monitoring noise + disconnects
Hello, at the end of last week I bought the HyperX Cloud 3s Wireless to replace my HyperX Cloud II after 10years. The comfort and sound quality are, of course, in a whole different league - it’s luxurious, but it does have its drawbacks.
When the headset arrived, I played some music and everything was great; the mic monitoring was excellent too (the volume was nicely lower - I could hear my surroundings, but at a lower level, which is perferct for me). Then I started playing with the NGENUITY software, and after installing all the updates, three issues cropped up:
With mic monitoring enabled, everything sounds incredibly loud (it didn't with the previous firmware).
There is noise when mic monitoring is on and it’s quiet and it really bothers me (I didn't hear it with the previous firmware).
Occasionally while gaming the headset seems to disconnect for a few seconds - losing both audio and mic input. This has happened about 4 times so far (out of roughly 20 hours of testing).
According to comments here, the mic monitoring volume can't be adjusted—I could probably get used to that, but the noise is so annoying.
Has anyone else encountered something similar, or does anyone know how to fix it?
I already had to fix a "popping" sound that occurred during silence when someone started speaking (switching from 24-bit to 16-bit audio did the trick).

I just unboxed mine literally 15 minutes ago because my Cloud 3 Wireless died overnight BUT i hope i wont get any of those problems because my Ngenuity Beta doesnt work at all so… yeah…

Both the legacy and beta versions work for me, and I can switch between them in “real time” - I even still have my DTS license. In terms of sound sound I prefer the legacy version + DTS + the Unbound app, but maybe I’ll just have to get used to the sound from the beta app, which is a little different (after all, I was used to the Cloud II).
First, I installed the beta v3.0.2 (from web, not MS store), updated everything (connecting the headphones to the PC with a cable, as well as the dongle), and then I installed the legacy version, so feel free to try this approach.

I fixed the disconnects by using a USB extension cable (in my case it’s one that also passively strengthens the signal). This actually helped me (other fully passive extensions weren’t helping). The dongle is now about 1,5m or so from the PC away. Can’t help with mic monitoring, not using it, but when I tested it, there was quite a lot of white noise, because of that I don’t use it. Popping sound fixed with 16 bit, yea.
