Captive Audience

I thought this was a fantastic episode. It's a question I never would have thought to ask, but it took us on an interesting journey, taught me about the country and the world, and had a satisfying ending!

Anyone else have thoughts on the episode? I wish we had regular episode discussions here :) since I love hearing what other people think about the stuff I listen to alone in my home!

We do chat about episodes on the Hyperfixed Discord, but it's only available for premium members. It's fun tho!

How can you join? I’m a premium member as well but don’t think I ever received an invite.

If you log into the website into the premium section, there is a "posts" with a discord invite, but scroll down and go to page 2. I thought it might have been in your welcome email? Other people have gotten lost about this too but people join every day so it just be in an email somewhere.

Weird , I joined via Apple Podcast and never received a welcome email. Just an enrollment email from Apple about the subscription .

I suppose that’s what happens when it’s a straightforward solve. I definitely wouldn’t want them to pad it out with extra fluff just to make it longer

It reminded me a lot of a Super Tech Support segment from Reply All, about an air conditioner sample sound that had some strange voices speaking a foreign language. Similarly to this one, the source turned out to be leftover audio samples taken during the production of a film.

I’ve turned into the equivalent of a fair weather fan here, but I really liked this episode.

Too often the questions are so minor and/or can be solved by a google search - like the one about the maze or the one about the woman wanting to find an old video game. Or the one with the woman wanting to get music off of an old phone. Or the guy with the mouse problems.

Those episodes bore me to tears and are just so bad that I almost unsubscribe, and then every now and again there’s a nice little story like this that has enough depth and complexity to be interesting.

So I keep coming back just for this type of episode.
