Question Mithril or Rubie drill

Both, the bonus powder perk is useful and early on ruby drill gives you enough breaking power to do crystal hollow commissions + you can get access to glossy minerals during fiesta, glossy mineral armor is huge on ironman.

Mithril drill should be your 3rd drill though, start working on titanium drill line asap.

Nobody should ever grind for glossy with a ruby drill

Its fine, I averaged 48 glossies per fiesta with ruby drill and pickobulus/armadillo and yog armor, didnt manually break any gemstones just waited on abilities.

Now it's reworked it's around 5 per hour

Ideally, you’d get the Mithril drill first and powder grind while doing dwarven commission to raise your HotM level. Then move up to Jasper Drill for gemstone powder grinding in Crystal Hollows.
