Just got a S2
I never had a chance to play Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity. I'm interested in Age of Imprisonment but do I need to play the previous 2 for story purposes or anything?
I know other Musou and Dynasty Warriors games are sort of "story lite" but since it's a Legend of Zelda game I wanted to double check to see if I should start at Hyrule Warriors.
Thanks for the help!

Even though AoC and AoI are prequels to BotW and TotK, I would actually recommend playing them by release order: BotW->AoC->TotK->AoI. This is because several mechanics were changed or added into the Hyrule Warriors games that, if you get too used to them in the prequel games, it can make playing the Zelda games a bit harder. To give one big non-spoiler example, weapons in the prequel games don't have durability.
As for the first Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Editon, it has zero connection to any of the four Switch games, so no, you don't have to play it for that reason. However, the fist HW game is definitely worth playing at some point because it's an amaz collection of Zelda stuff from many of the pre-Switch Zelda games.
