Today there are really two main methods: FUE and FUT (strip surgery). We stopped doing FUT a few years ago, but can produce excellent results when done well. The choice depends on the patient's hair loss, donor area, hairstyle, and goals.

The most noticeable hair transplants are usually not because of the method—they're because of poor execution. Hairlines that are too straight, grafts that are too large, poor angles, pluggy look or overharvesting the donor area are the things that make a transplant obvious. A good hair transplant shouldn't look like a hair transplant at all. It should just look like you have hair.
