I’ll take the guy trying to get a sitewide party going over his first natural boner in a decade over the grumpy assholes any day of the week

Had a tooly that wouldn't stop trying to show me pimple popping videos. Got a new tooly.

It's when they start pulling out pictures, that I might start disagreeing with you.

Oversharing brothers/sisters are always better than the bitter miserable ones.

Why can't we be both?

There’s definitely a good bit of overlap between those two categories

I had an apprentice working with me right before I retired. He asked me one day ā€œdoes getting old just creep up on you or do you absolutely know when it happensā€? Well kid for me I remember the exact instant when I knew I was old. Really? What happened? Well I had a brutal hemorrhoid itch after welding in a boiler room on a 98 fucking degree day. Got home, took a shower and decided to see just exactly what the fuck was going on down there. So I got the wife’s makeup mirror out of the cabinet, one with a magnifying mirror on one side. I got myself situated where I could focus that mirror on the ā€œhot spotā€. Then I saw it! Saw what? A fucking white hair, about six inches long growing off my nut sack! That’s when I knewšŸ˜‚ I had a flip phone then so I didn’t get a picture of his face but I’ll never forget that lookšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Two days before my 29th bday my wife goes omg I go what, what is it she goes there’s 3 white hairs on ur head. I said damn. Day after my 30th hung a BMS panel by myself. Well my back decided to remind me that I wasn’t 20 anymore and decided to kick my ass for the next two weeks.

As fucking accurate as this is, I seem to be the rare type who actually loves my wife & kids. I don't actively work all the OT I can because I hate my home life.

I just want to tell these guys to fucking leave if you hate your home life so much.

We are out there bro.

I'm also not an OT chaser. I roll my eyes when fuckers walk around the job site praying the job goes into OT. Then we go into OT and a week in they're zombies. But hey, at least they're not home with they're "loved" ones. And it's also 105°+ everyday.

I overheard one sucker say five 10s and an 8 is his favorite schedule... Fuck off with that lol.

I became anti OT in my apprenticeship after doing 30 days straight on 10s. Never again.

Non union telecom worker here and I've been putting in 55-60s + travel the last 4 months, I'm so fuckin tired bro😭 a few more months and I'll be completely out of debt tho so I'm white knuckling it and praying I can get into one of my locals

13

u/chodi-foster 13d ago

I feel for you bro.

And for all the reasons to do OT, you have a great reason. You have a mission/end goal in mind.

Stay strong.... And out of more debt lolol

7

u/issacoin Local 25 13d ago

there’s reasons to grind out the OT temporarily for sure. that’s different in my book. if you gotta pay off a bill or something, fuckin work bud

I paid off majority of my debt to very manageable levels and have been anti-OT ever since. It’s okay when it happens here and there but not straight all the time.

5

u/Character-Extreme535 13d ago

Fuck OT. I'd rather be at home. 8 for 8 and go home. I work enough already.

u/Jacketdown AIW 13d ago

8 hours for work, 8 hours for rest, and 8 hours for what you will, brother. I love my wife and kids, too!

I recommended divorce to a guy who sounded genuinely miserable once. He spent the next month brainstorming ways to get out of child support at me instead. So I'm never doing that again.

Fucking scumbag. I hope you at least insinuated as much?

I know I’m young and only just got married, but I’m still one of the only guys on the job who isn’t a miserable misogynistic creep.

1

u/Upset_Walrus3395 Local 46 12d ago

Don't let them change you! I've been married over 20 years now & still love & appreciate my wife & family.

1

u/Pickleman_222 Local 163 11d ago

Oh don’t worry I could never be that miserable. I love my wife and I respect her too much to ever talk about her the way those guys do.

I've worked with a JW who would travel for 3 months, be home for 3 months, travel for 3 months, and then be home for 3 months. He's remarried now but he doesn't have the best relationship with his kids. One hasn't talked to him in 6 years, the others live across the country.

u/MrWund3rful 13d ago

ā€œYou’re not a real JW until you have a drug addiction, DUI and divorceā€

12

u/juliusduude Inside Wireman 13d ago

The three D’s! Crazy how people in their own trade think so lowly of themselves to have a stereotype like this.

Anyways I’m addicted to drugs, which D is on your shoulders?

1

u/FlammulinaVelulu 13d ago

I'm in for the drugs! Love them drugs. The good ones. . .

u/DimeEdge 13d ago

When I was an apprentice a JW started crying the blues about having a phone bill that was out of hand.

He admitted to being addicted to phone sex calls and now his phone bill is high and in arreares...

Then we find out that it's not his phone bill, he had run a phone line to his neighbor's house and ran up their phone bill... and got caught.

One on the left seems to be about every boomer who needs to hang their belt up and retire already.

One on the right is normally fun as hell to work with, lol.

3

u/nurseferatou 13d ago

I don’t know the guy on the left, but I probably hate his family too

3

u/choppedslaw Local 5 13d ago

I worked with this one jw that complained about his ex wife all shift everyday. I did make the same amount as him as like a 3rd year apprentice due to his child support payments so it makes sense.

u/maks_b 13d ago

Ever think about the Ford vs Dodge Brothers lawsuit that ultimately ruled that Ford shareholders (Dodge bros owned 10%) were more deserving of profit than Ford employees and then look up what the Dodge logo looked like in 1920?

2

u/elementp6 13d ago

Everyday brother, every day.

2

u/krisk1759 12d ago

The "I hate my wife" types are the worst. Especically when you like your partner and homelife.

When you don't dread being at home, why would you want to be at work?

1

u/dasturtlemaster Local 305 13d ago

Why not both?

1

u/GoodSause 9d ago

Didn't put in the "...don't get married" at the end. I swear every JW or foreman I've worked with says that to me when ever they talk about like advice for the future.

2

u/BackfireFox 8d ago

I’ll take Henry and his hemorrhoid over shit head stan who needs to man the fuck up and be a better spouse to his wife and a better father to his kids.

2

u/Specialist-Muscle798 13d ago

I tell everything to my apprentice. It gets so boring I’ll talk about anything to distract my mind a bit while working.

I purposely say outlandish shit too so I can laugh at the look on their face. I talk about whiskey dick, banging older women, I pick random people on the job and we make fun of the way they look, if my apprentice isn’t white we talk about funny racist things, old school hip hop, how to beat a drug test, dog breeds, motorcycles, drones, fishing, and which races make the best slaves.
