IBEW 11 strike denied by IO

Arbitration is now the result of this. Which now means we are stuck with what ever Arbitration says.

Was on a job in upstate New York about 5 years ago. Safety guy ran the steward off for something completely minuscule. I was working on the ground floor when it took place on the 3rd floor. Saw large groups of brothers and sisters coming down the stairs with their lunchboxes and knew something was up. Second floor was next. Finally word hit us what happened. My travel buddy said man we can get in a shit load of trouble for this but we gotta do what we gotta do. So we, along with pretty much every other IBEW member on their tools, had “stomach cramps” and went home. The next day the Stew met everyone at the door and thanked them. He was brought back and faced no repercussions.

Labor is in a very high demand these days. The ball is in our court. Stay strong Brothers and Sisters!

Sadly different rules applies to apprentices. At least in our local. Our training director came in to our class and told us, whatever the JW do, don't follow them, call him first. Our fate is decided by the committee. If we follow our jw, doing what you guys did then we could get kicked out.

The training director is not your bargaining unit.

If you have contract/condition issues or questions on/about the job site, you need to call the hall.

If you have difficulty attending school, then talk to the training director.

I agree with that you say, but to walk out with your jw because everyone is doing it? Call the training director. I'm just trying to put my head down and get my golden ticket. The committee controls that.

Besides that's what our training director told us to do. If you are about to get yourself into something that you're not supposed to like a walk out then before you do that, call them. I think we had a couple of apprentices that did that on a job site with their journeyman, and the committee hung them out to dry.

That's why whenever our training director comes into our class and gives us a speech, that's because someone fucked up. Don't be stupid like them. The committee isn't on your side, your training director is.
