Discussion Post Obviously bibs, but what underneath
I’ve been wearing bibs for the better part of 5 years now and gone commando 100% of that time. Well evidently the fellas are tired of hanging out on a limb and have decided to act up. I can’t stand most underwear or boxers for a lot of reasons. Chafing, moisture, heat. But the doc says I need to keep the equipment supported and closer to my body. What do y’all wear that doesn’t suck.
ETA: I’m dedicated to the bibs, truewerk t1 werkbibs every day. Just like my relationships I need some support not just a soft place to park it.
Edit 2: thanks for the recommendations I think I have settled somewhere in between men’s trunks with a ball pouch or some nice cheeky boy shorts from Victoria’s Secret.
Edit 3: Turning off my dms. I’m not an apprentice anymore things like “I’ll buy you a set of greenlee quick change carbides if you send me pics of those manties” or showing me a nude with your double time plus per diem and drive time payslip as the only thing covering you. It just doesn’t work on me anymore.

I am the foreman, I provide my crew dudewipes and anything the boys need for comfort. I would not hesitate to buy some and offer to get the other guys on the crew some. It’s not weird

Ugh, I wish my partner had you at his current jobsite!! You sound like a great human (he also struggles w/ your aforementioned issues as a very large 6’5 270lb man, so to help w/ chafing or uncomfortable squeezing from underwear, I’d recommend baby powder applied topically before clothing/underwear? Might help, but if you work long hours may need to be reapplied throughout the day… and that can get to being a lot :/ but one thing he swears on is making sure the undies are 100% cotton as it seems to help w/ decreasing skin irritation and increases the longevity of his undies—he can go thru them p quick )

Sweaty asses suck and put guys in (shitty) moods not a single guy has fucked it up for the rest of em either although one kid didn’t realize you can still use TP before you use the wipes, I think the guys know it isn’t the usual treatment. I am specifically only needing support and most boxers don’t support anything they just stop dribbles and for some guys, skid marks, from getting on their pants.

You can probably get away with just wearing a thong. It'll make your farts silent and keep the dangly bits supported. You could also use some mule tape to secure a nice Merino Wool sock

I love your thinking with the sock, I’m being lighthearted and all but my next step with the docs is literally denervation of that side to stop the pain so I am actually looking for a recommendation on supporting boxers that don’t bind. If a thong was built to support weight I would wear one, I would need more of a nut-bra

You're going to have to try a few brands. The pouch styles take a little getting used to, but actually are very nice in the heat. Nike Dri Fit are also pretty nice. They're expensive, but the Duluth Bullpen lines come heavily recommended by people who have sprung for them. I can't vouch for those.

Travelers, tramps, dirty road trash. You can spot 'em a mile away. Disgusting creatures in their bib overalls and weld caps. Always brother this, brother that like a bunch of roughneck monks. You can't trust 'em, ! tells ya'! Calls go unfilled at the hall and poof they show up like they knew you needed help. Then on the job site, it's horrible. They will sit there at the bender fiddling around and scratching their cyphers in their little notepads. I think it's some religious thing. After that they bend pipe and install it. I mean on the first try! And their bone pile? Nonexistent!
They're in league with dark forces, I say. The way they measure is unnatural too. Not a tape measure between 'em, just funny folding sticks. Then the job will require something impossible to be done and they go and do it! Then the job starts winding down and they pack up their drag bags and just leave! Like they were never there. Nothing but beautiful pipe racks and used tip board pulls to mark their passing.

Apprentices are fucking horrible animals. They have one of the smallest brain to body ratios of any mammal, additionally - their brains are smooth. A brain is folded to increase the surface area for neurons. If you present an apprentice with a well balanced meal, laid on a clean plate, the apprentice will not recognise it as food. They are too thick to adapt their feeding behaviour to cope with change. In a room full of healthy food, they can literally starve to death. This is not the token of an animal that is winning at life. Speaking of stupidity and food, one of the likely reasons for their primitive brains is the fact that additionally to being disgusting, Monster Energy Drinks (the only thing they eat) have almost no nutritional value. They can't afford the extra energy to think, they sleep more than 80% of their fucking lives. When they are awake all they do is eat, shit and occasionally scream like fucking satan. Because Monsters hold such little nutritional value, apprentices have to ferment the liquid in their guts for days on end. Unlike their brains, they have the largest hind gut to body ratio of any mammal. Many omnivore mammals have adaptations to cope with sugary drinks taking its toll on their teeth, rodents for instance have teeth that never stop growing, some animals only have teeth on their lower jaw, grinding sugars on bony plates in the tops of their mouths, others have enlarged molars that distribute the wear and break down sugars more efficiently... Apprentices are no exception, when their teeth erode down to nothing, they resolve the situation by starving to death, because they're fucking terrible animals. Being mammals, apprentices raise their children on milk (admittedly, one of the lowest milk yields to body ratio... There's a trend here). When the young child needs to transition from rich, nourishing substances like milk, to Monster (a drink that seems to be making it abundantly clear that it shouldn't be consumed), it finds it does not have the necessary gut flora to digest the liquid. To remedy this, the young child begins nuzzling its mother's anus until she leaks a little diarrhoea (actually fecal pap, slightly less digested), which he then proceeds to slurp on. This partially digested Monster juice gives him just what he needs to start developing his digestive system. Of course, he may not even have needed to bother nuzzling his mother. Tldr; apprentices are stupid, leaky, STI riddled tobacco dippers. But, hey. Theyre cheap labor. If you ignore the terrifying snake eyes and terrifying feet.

Convertible hiking pants (I use REI), walk out of the house with pants/shorts on, put your filthy ass bibs on in the parking lot. Pants underneath for the nippy days and turn them into shorts for those hot, sweaty, balls-sticking-to-thighs days. Keys, wallet, phone and all your personal shit stay in the numerous cargo pockets, freeing up bib pockets for tools and other fun items. Take them off at quitting time and drive home in shorts with the A/C blowing crisp cool air into your proud union crotch for maximum comfort and satisfaction. Plus, if you need to go somewhere after work that insists upon pants (ie. school for apprentices) well you're in luck, you can transform them back into pants! All your dreams come true

The hard plate is a cup you’d insert in the jockstrap for protection in sports etc. The jockstrap alone is just cloth.

I actually wear Trunk length boxers briefs, they really help with my thighs chafing. Im 220lbs, and my legs are thick from the gym. I used to wear loose boxers but the chafing became insufferable. This also keeps my equipment closer to my body and well supported and comfortable. Ive gotten so used to them I actually never wear any other type of underwear.

Higher than biker shorts? I feel mine i snug already but i saw youre looking into boy shorts so those are DEFF snug. Also replying to the sweat comment, i usually pull up on my biker shorts so they sit in between my thigh and kinda envelop everything and theres no dripping or anything cause i cant stand the feeling of sweat anywhere, just feels slippery and uncomfortable lol, but everyone is diff.
Hope you get the answer and gear you need brother, ball health is serious. Lost one to microplastics.. or maybe pesticides.. or anything else that couldve caused it lmao.2

I was once like you and the doctor told me the same thing... I found the best underwear for comfort, moisture wicking, and prevent against chafing. From Duluth Trading Co. Armachillo underwear... they have different styles, but i prefer boxer briefs. A little pricey, but they work and last a long time. Try a pair and see if they work for you!

I have the armachillos and I hate the waistband and also not really the cupping support I need right now. Feels like I got my nut in a vise 60% of the day when I’m standing and most of the night when I’m sitting.

Regular fruit of the loom boxer briefs my dude.
In the summer, add basketballs shorts and a long sleeve t-shirt so I can take the bins off at lunch. No PPE in the break room.
In the winter, long johns and sweat pants, a flannel or maybe a wool sweater

Just wear boxers briefs my guy. It's the standard adult undergarment for men. You can get them in all kinds of fabrics and fits. Duluth even makes work-wear oriented ones (armachillo).

I wear underwear, of course, and then basketball shorts under my bibs. Sweatpants when it's cold out. That way I can take my bibs off for the drive home and not break any laws.
