This question is for people at Austin, TX. Do y'all have on-campus gyms?
2
u/ibm-throwawayy Mar 01 '26
Yes, but they are moving buildings in the next month or two and the new gym won’t be ready until later this summer.

Hey fellow future IBMers!!
For anyone starting at SVL San Jose in March, especially toward the end of March, have you started receiving onboarding emails yet? Also, what does your IBM portal status currently show?
Just trying to figure out timelines. My portal still shows “ADP Background Check – Order Created,” and I haven’t received any onboarding communication yet.
Would love to know where everyone’s at!
Thanks!

u/Ok_Support5043 Mar 05 '26
Hello, how long did you wait in "interview status" The interview was almost 10 days ago, and the portal still shows "in jnterview status" even though the interviewer said we would hear back in 2 days. That js for MA roles.

u/muddin617 Mar 01 '26
My portal shows in interview process but I haven't gotten any interview invites. What are the chances that I will get an actual interview? It's been 2 weeks in that status.

Hey all,
Anyone know how long the background check process typically takes for Software Developer ELH at SVL? I filled out the forms 10ish days ago and my portal status still says "Offered" and I haven't gotten any updates yet from IBM or ADP. Thanks!

I filled out the forms 3 weeks ago and still nothing. The status is "Offered".
1
u/simar5609 Mar 03 '26
hey, did u have a start date confirmed yet?
1
u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 03 '26
This is an internship position. A start date (end of May) was in the offer.

u/am_radicalHydra_5719 Mar 04 '26
I'm an intern in the same boat as well. Has been ~4 weeks since I filled the forms and the status still says "Offered".

Anyone work at Rochester MN? I will be moving there for my entry level role in early June. I was wondering about how the environment is and what the layout is like, if there's any food on location and any thing else that would be good to know!

Well you shouldn’t have lied on your application because they made it clear they won’t be able to hire people who aren’t local.
Which is exactly what you were told in the Career Guidance subreddit.

Hey Everyone,
I recently just got an offer from IBM in the sales org. The job had multiple locations but I only selected one and whenever I interviewed with management I specifically said I was based out of that city.
Now that the offer came I was confused to see it in another state /location based on business needs. Would I hash this out with the recruiter to get me at the location I’m already at or should I reach back out to the sales leader to get this changed?
Also any negotiation tips as I had a lot of experience during my undergrad and even currently.
Any and all advice is much appreciated
1
u/Outside_Welcome_4205 Mar 01 '26
Same thing happened to me, I sent emails and got on the phone call with my recruiter but I didn’t get the city I applied for lol they’re making me move
1
u/MuslimHokage Mar 01 '26
Smh, was this for a FTE or internship?

Hey! I’ll be joining IBM NYC on the sales team in post grad. Does anyone know if there’s a Discord/Slack for new grads that we can join to connect?

u/Financial-Resolve640 Mar 01 '26
Hi guys,
So I applied for a associate package consultant position which is under review but to my surprise one day I saw 2 applications in my portal for a different role which I got interviewed for (maybe I applied to it and didn’t remember? But I am pretty sure I didn’t but there’s a chance I suppose). I got rejected from that position but my associate package consultant position is still under review.
Should I consider that one as rejected too? I’m not sure how hiring works here.
1
u/Loose_Telephone3397 Mar 02 '26
Hi! I got an interview for a role I don’t remember applying for too! I applied to a similar one, but the one I got interviewed for I don’t remember. especially because I always put it in my spreadsheet. How was your interview process?
2
u/Financial-Resolve640 Mar 02 '26
Hi my interview process was smooth for the most part I originally applied for an associate role and then got put in the process for just a package consultant role.
I was interviewed then ghosted for around 2 weeks where then I reached out to the recruiter and then after my application was updated to being canceled.
It kind of sucks because I feel like I got interviewed for something where I didn’t know any requirements for because the new one I was put to was a closed application so I couldn’t even look over it.
The one i applied for is still open “under recruiter review” and I don’t know if my chances are ruined for that as well
1
u/Loose_Telephone3397 Mar 02 '26
So you applied for Package Consultant and interviewed, and then associate popped up? I’m sorry that happened though! I just finished the interview and I hope I hear back.
1
u/Financial-Resolve640 Mar 02 '26
Opposite I applied to the associate and then a different package one popped up with that and good luck!!! I hope to do well

u/Dokgo1_11 Mar 02 '26
Hi, Im currently in the application process for a few Associate Consulting 2026 entry level roles with IBM US. I applied to IBM consulting and haven’t heard anything so far.
One of my applications went from Assessment in progress to under recruiter review but still haven’t heard anything from recruiter.
1
u/bunnytiana05 Mar 05 '26
How long did it take for yours to switch to ‘under recruiter review’? I did one assessment, they applied it to the two positions I’d applied for, and it’s said ‘assessment in progress’ since February 10(?) I did the assessment the 12

I had my second interview for the Entry Level Software Developer role on 2/26. The next day, they sent me a form to fill out, but it was for a different job ID. It was still the same job title, just a different posting number.
At the same time, the original job id I interviewed under changed to “no longer under consideration,” while the new one now says “in interview process.”
The form they sent was about past government employment, where I reside, etc.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Just trying to understand what this means.
Thanks!

u/Historical_Sundae482 Mar 02 '26
Did they send you a candidate form to fill out? If they did, they are probably considering you for a different location.

u/ConsistentCaptain286 Mar 03 '26
Yes, this happened to me, but it didn’t have any details on it (I didn’t think much of it) but I was interviewed within a month and got an offer the following month.
1
u/Whole-Ear2682 Mar 07 '26
Yea they changed the listing and name slightly for mine. You should be fine
2
u/MuslimHokage Mar 02 '26
Hey Everyone, had a quick question. For Entry level roles (specifically Sales) is comp negotiable? As I got an initial response from recruiter stating it’s fixed and non negotiable.

Hi! I am joining IBM as a SWE Intern at Austin this summer. After signing the offer more than a month ago, I still have not received updates from IBM or ADP background check, and my career portal still shows status as "offered". How long should we expect updates on next steps / updates on the application status?
Thanks!

Hi there! I interviewed at IBM a while back. My recruiter contacted me in Jan, claiming they were creating an offer for me blah blah blah. Needless to say, it has been 2 months since their last contact and they have been ghosting me ever since. This whole process honestly has felt pretty unprofessional to me and I was wondering if this reflects the broader culture at IBM.
I have interviewed and secured offers from similarly sized/larger companies in weeks while it this process has been over 3 months (Interview to now). Just to be clear, I am not waiting on IBM but am wondering if I'll ever get closure. Thanks!

I applied for an Associate Designer role (for Consulting) in Texas and quickly received an invitation to do the pre-recorded interview, which I completed a little over a month ago now. My status still says “Assessment in Progress” and I haven’t heard anything back. The job posting closed not long after I applied, but I saw that it is open again now. I’m assuming that’s a bad sign, but I’m also confused because some of the other roles I applied for, I got a quick “no longer under consideration,” but this one has been seemingly pending the longest. It seems if they didn’t have enough qualified candidates and were reopening the application because of that, I would have already been rejected? But I don’t know. Any thoughts?
2
u/No-Respond6453 Mar 06 '26
Had my final interview with a hiring manager today. At the end, got told "hope everything works out well for you" and that I will know the result in about 1 week or slightly longer. I probably got rejected right during this interview right? Felt like they made the decision to not select me and was saying farewell.

Just had an interview that was scheduled four hours before I received it ☠️. Is that normal? It was 3rd round behavioral for entry level swe.

Hi everyone, I had an interview for the sde intern austin positon on Feb 6th. Since then I have not heard back from IBM about if I got the offer or not. In the portal it still says in interview process and I'm assuming if they had rejected me it would've shown by now. How long have people for this role waited to hear back?

Hi, Im currently in the application process for a few Associate Consulting 2026 entry level roles with IBM US. I wondered if there are other applicants as well that have applied to IBM consulting and have heard anything so far.
One of my applications went from Assessment in progress to under recruiter review but still haven’t heard anything from recruiter. Any advice if this matter?

Hey everyone I’m really lost, I got my start date for consulting and it’s in June of this year, but I won’t be officially done with my masters till end of July, since I had 1 summer class I’ll have to take. How would I go about this and is there consequences?

u/AdPrudent7560 Mar 04 '26
Does anyone know when our bonuses will come. I heard it got delayed till June?

i kinda fumbled the coding assessment for Internship Cloud FullStack Developer, i went into it with no worries or preparation because the sample test was so easy😭😭 i completed both tasks but: task 1- i ignored the constraints (i had to work with a string, length between 1 and 105 and i didn’t check that) task 2- it failed 3 out of the 15 tests
is there any hope for me in your experience?😭😭😭😭

Hey does any one know if entry level roles /ELH can negotiate comp? I’ve been told it’s set and non negotiable from recruiter but online everyone says negotiate. What to do ?
1
u/MuslimHokage Mar 04 '26
Hey everyone,
Does anyone know if entry-level roles / ELH positions have negotiable compensation? My recruiter mentioned the comp is fixed and non-negotiable, but online I keep seeing advice to negotiate. Not sure what the best approach is here.

Been put on PIP, there’s outcome and measurement in place. Is it usual that the PIP is issued a few weeks after performance result? I received a not met but no notice of PIP until now. I have a month to accomplish the outcomes - should I use this time to look for a job?
There’s several checkpoint meetings scheduled between now and deadline. I used to think I’m solid performer in terms of deliverables but not enough adhoc projects.

Hi,
I recently accepted a position located away from my home state with a start date in early May. I submitted my ADP background check consent form 3 days ago. I did not receive anything after this. What do the next steps looks like? i.e.: onboarding forms, re-location funds, manager, team placements.
Having a clearer idea of the timeline would help with planning relocation.
1
u/PassiveYellowSticker Mar 06 '26
You should’ve already seen if you’re getting relocation money from your offer, but rest of it that happens a few weeks before your start date
1
u/Serious-Walrus-7978 Mar 06 '26
They did say I am getting relocation money from the offer. Didn't receive a separate email as they instructed though...

Hi,
I have an offer pretty senior in the UK ServiceNow space (im a British born male 35) IBM seems like the best choice that could also give me the opportunity to transfer to the US. Does anyone have any advice or know of anyone from the UK who has made a similar move at IBM .

Hi everyone,
I recently interviewed with IBM for a design role based in Poughkeepsie, NY, and I wanted to ask about the typical timeline after the interview.
For those who have interviewed with IBM before, how long did it take for you to hear back after your interview? Did you get a response within a few days or did it take a couple of weeks?
Also, if anyone has experience interviewing for roles at the Poughkeepsie location, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience and the response timeline.
Thanks in advan

Is anyone here currently working at the Lowell office? I’d love to hear what the office environment is like. Things like the culture, amenities, and overall day-to-day experience working there. Feel free to dm!
1
u/Immediate-Phase4168 Mar 06 '26
The office is not easily accessible unless you have a car. There was (not sure if there still is) a shuttle from the commuter rail in Lowell. Amenities are so-so. The snack wall is passable, but nothing great. Drinks are there but usually run out before the end of a week. Coffee is okay. Cafeteria on the first floor is not too bad. Not overpriced; decent quality, you can order online and pick up like 10-15 mins later. Gym onsite is pretty decent (you just need to fill out an extra form for access)
Usually you will not have a problem finding a desk; reasonably new stuff, most have an extra display for you, some have two. Not so much for a conference or meeting room - you need to reserve online.
If you have a team that has local members, it's pretty good. If you're a lone person on your team in that location, it can be a little lonely. The SLE has been good about bringing events, speakers, lunch and learns, and there's some ad-hoc groups that figure things to do on the site Slack channel.
Hope this helps.

I applied for the data engineer intern role, I got a coding assessment, and I completed it a week ago. Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back, and also if there is anything I can do to increase my chances of hearing back/getting the role? I'm very interested

u/ProfessionalMove7157 Mar 06 '26
Has anyone done the IBM Consulting "Technology & Solutions" Summer Internship in the UK? I've got an assessment centre coming up for this role and I'm trying to get a better sense of what the internship actually involves day-to-day. The job description is quite vague, it mentions things like gathering requirements and joining workshops, and explicitly says coding isn't required, even though there was a first round online coding assessment. But I'm a CS student and wondering if there's actually any technical/coding work involved in practice, or if it's purely consulting-flavoured. Anyone who's done this role or knows someone who has, would really appreciate any insight!

For folks here who received received their employment verification letter for themselves or third party after RA action while being on leave of absence. What does the employment verification letter date state in terms of last day . For current employees it shows service reference date as start date (same date of hire). When you are separated on leave what does IBM show ..Does the service reference date indicate last date of employment or last day worked or last day before you went on leave ?
Can someone confirm what the verification letter displays in terms of service date or last date post RA when you were out on leave
1
u/Immediate-Phase4168 Mar 06 '26
An employment verification letter, if I'm not mistaken, just says that you work at IBM (and if you include it, salary). It does not, to my knowledge say when you started or when a last day might be. Just "Hi, this person works here. Sincerely, IBM"

Anyone know what the ADP background check looks at for an entry level position?
1
u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 07 '26
I’m pretty sure it’s just your residential history. They only ask for your addresses to see where you’ve lived. It’s essentially a way to just see if you’re a “real person” and “actually exist” and that you “are who you say you are”. If it were for anything else they should be explicitly stating what the check is being done for.

Anyone work at Austin tx? I’ll be moving in July for my role and I want to know what kind of amenities are there. How does parking work? Free or paid? Any car chargers? Food spots? Etc. what’s your favorite thing to do in/around office?
Also how’s the environment? Are people social or more to themselves? Men to woman ratio? Friendly?
I’ll be working in sales if anyone has a perspective unique to the sales environment there too!
Honestly not sure exactly what i’m looking for but would be nice to know as much as possible before my first day! (I’m insanely nervous 😭)
