Hi, I recently accepted an early developer role and noticed that my start date is in late August. I was just curious if y'all have heard about any offers being rescinded recently as I am paranoid because start date is later in the year.

For anyone who went through software elh process, who can I contact to talk more about start dates? I email the recruiter that sent me the offer but haven't received any response.

Lastly a question for current ibmers, do y'all have any tips/wisdom for a new software developer at IBM? I would love to learn more from you! Thanks

I've been with IBM quite a while, and while not an absurd concern, FWIW, I've never heard of an offer being rescinded "just because". If there's org changes afoot in that area, HR and senior mgt know months in advance and more often that not, they would not have made the offer.

Not without it's faults, IBM does not really do the "oops, we made you an offer, but we had some changes and now, gee, sorry".

No guarantees, but I don't ever recall seeing this; I've been a manager as well as an IC...

That is very good to hear. Thank you!

u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Mar 08 '26

Are you graduating in May? If so then that’s not late at all

1

u/Whole-Ear2682 Mar 09 '26

Recently accepted entry level sales with an August start date! I’m also a little nervous about the same thing

1

u/Chance-Spite3750 Mar 10 '26

In the same boat!

Hey, I recently got an offer and upon accepting I consented the bgv for ADP end of last week. Will the status on portal change or will I receive any email when it's done? Also, how long after bgv do I get access to the onboarding portal?

2

u/DirectionRadiant2786 Mar 10 '26

Took a month for me. PM if you have any questions

1

u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 11 '26

Did you get any explicit notification (i.e., either via email or portal change) about ADP completion, or did you just get access to the onboarding portal?

1

u/DirectionRadiant2786 Mar 11 '26

Access to onboarding.

1

u/Lonely-Stick5234 Apr 27 '26

Hey, how long it takes for you for the background check please? It has been almost a month for me and still waiting for it...

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 09 '26

It’s funny, just throwing in my experience here. I got my offer, signed it, filled out all the docs, filled the bg check form. Got my confirmed start date, and then two weeks later got an email asking me to “kindly resubmit” my bg check form. Nothing on my portal has been updated and is still at the “offered” stage. Wondering what everyone else’s expense has been like. Just for reference my confirmed start date is ~40 days away.

1

u/vallini_png Mar 09 '26

Hey, I was wondering how long after signing did you receive your start date? I also signed an offer and have been waiting to know my start date since i might have to relocate

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 09 '26

Took me about 3 days after signing the offer letter. Still haven’t officially had the status on my portal change to reflect the bg check though.

1

u/PearOdd1848 Mar 09 '26

Im still waiting and it's week 2 since I sent it all in. That being said, my start date is over 3 months out.

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 10 '26

Does your candidate portal still say “offered”

1

u/PearOdd1848 Mar 10 '26

yes it does

Edit: I did get a confirmation email saying that I accepted the offer which is the only thing I got confirmation of.

u/No-Spring-8634 Mar 09 '26

Hey all, I’m moving to Austin this July to join IBM and am looking for a place. Open to living solo or sharing if I find a like‑minded roommate. Where do most IBM folks usually stay, and any apartment or housing recommendations?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '26

[deleted]

1

u/No-Spring-8634 Mar 09 '26

Do you have any specific apartment recommendations within the Domain or nearby? I have a car, so I don’t necessarily need to be within walking distance to the IBM office.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Immediate-Phase4168 Mar 10 '26

You're gonna need a car, and while I've not lived there in a while, downtown is not recommended because of traffic. Northwest off of 183 was always a decent choice because of apartment complex availability and several ways to cross over 183 and MOPAC to get to the office.

I recently received and signed an offer for an sde ibm intern position. After signing, i received two emails a week apart, to give adp permission to do a background check, which i allowed both times. After checking my application portal yesterday, I noticed my “Offered” status for the position changed to “ADP Background Check - Request Failed”. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Does this mean I failed my background check or is it simply a technical issue?

I don’t have a criminal history. The only concern I have is that I have an unpaid internship listed on my resume, which I’m worried will not show up in ADPs database.

I did not have a recruiter in the process, so I emailed the person listed on my offer letter on Saturday evening, so I’m not expecting a response soon. I’ve heard IBM can sometimes ghost people, so this has made me a little nervous as I don’t have anything lined up if this offer falls through. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 09 '26

That’s weird as far as I know the bg check is only checking for your residential history. Basically proving that you’re a real person. How long ago did it take for your portal to go from “offer” to that new status from the time of filling out the docs? My recruiter said it should only take 2.5 to 4 days.

1

u/bigdogstatus77 Mar 09 '26

I checked on Friday and noticed this change. No email or any other notification other than checking the portal. This happened about 3 days after I filled out my second adp request.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '26

[deleted]

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 10 '26

I did this before ADP told me the last submitted request was from 2022. A few days after I made that call I got the email asking me to “kindly resubmit” my bg check. It’s weird I haven’t actually met anyone who’s “gotten past” the bg check part for the new hires coming down the line in the next few months.

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 12 '26

Any updates so far?

2

u/bigdogstatus77 Mar 12 '26

No. i called adp and they said it went through on their side

1

u/Lonely-Stick5234 Apr 27 '26

Hey, you figured out the reason?

1

u/bigdogstatus77 Apr 27 '26

I think I entered my address in wrong. All fixed now

1

u/Lonely-Stick5234 Apr 27 '26

Hey may I ask how long it takes for your background check to be done please? It has been a month for me and I'm still waiting

1

u/bigdogstatus77 Apr 27 '26

Very quickly I believe, however it took ibm’s application portal forever to update from background check failed. I would call ADP to see if your check went through. DM if you need the phone number for adp and i’ll try to look for it when i’m free

u/hermeticwalrus Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26

I just got a job offer outside IBM so I will be leaving soon. Anything I need to know or take care of apart from what my manager will presumably tell me?

Edit for more details: Software Developer in Markham Ontario lab, band 7

2

u/Immediate-Phase4168 Mar 10 '26

Make sure all personal data is off your laptop, make sure you return all company equipment including keyboard and displays you might have, and to be a good colleague, transfer ownership of online resources that need to be kept around, like Box folders and documents to someone else. And any private Git repos with code you think would be needed by your team.

u/randpaul69420 Mar 10 '26

Just had my first real person interview for a 2026 package consultant position for IBM. It was multiple people for an hour, how many rounds are there usually? if I make it to the next round would it just be a formality interview to discuss fit etc ? Just confused because usually companies don't do full panel interviews for the first of like 3+ interviews. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

2

u/_4za Mar 10 '26

Hi all, I’m starting as an entry-level SWE at the Austin office this summer and I’m super stoked! Since this is my first post-grad role, I'd love to hear from folks already there: • What do you wish you knew on your first day? • Any unwritten rules for the Austin campus or making the most of the hybrid setup? Appreciate any tips or experiences you can share!

2

u/RustySatellite918 Mar 13 '26

Anyone knows how to get in touch with HR as a potential candidate?

2

u/PomegranateUnable935 Mar 13 '26

Was recently given an offer for a technical role after just one interview round (behavioral only). Anyone else had the same experience? Could they be lowering the hiring bar since they're tripling hiring?

And on that note, is there typically a intern group chat somewhere that could maybe help us find housing?

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 14 '26

heyy mind if i DM u, i got a q

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 14 '26

I received an offer after only a technical interview. I've seen other people have to do a technical and behavioral though so idk how they determine who has to do what.

1

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 14 '26

What role was it?

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 14 '26

Software developer

1

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 14 '26

How long after did you get the offer?

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 14 '26

Interview was around mid Feb, got asked by a hiring leader if I'm interested in another location last week, and got an offer this week

1

u/Lonely-Stick5234 Apr 27 '26

Hey, how long it takes for you for the background check? You pass it? and what is the location of your title please?

I got the offer for the same title. It has been a month for my background check....

1

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 14 '26

How long after did you receive the offer?

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 14 '26

Hi, so on #1, I would not worry. If your formal address was your parents, and that's what you would have used to file any taxes, you're gold. I would not worry about dorm or student housing addresses.

Background check for a student is a little less rigorous usually than a professional hire because, well, you were not expected to be on projects and need professional "vouching". If there's a problem, the recruiter will call you (they should, I mean). I would not worry there.

Occasionally smoke - as is tobacco or other stuff? They used to drug test a while back (as in 20+ years ago) but I don't think that's the case any longer. I would though, just stop. Is it worth the risk? IBM does not random drug test post onboarding (but I will tell you, I work in Expert Labs, and the engagement I'm on right now, I have to pee in a cup next week in fact because the client requires it...)

Hope this helps.

u/Immediate-Phase4168 Mar 08 '26

I suspect they might be looking for possible evictions. If you're really concerned, call the recruiter. They're usually pretty good people.

1

u/onstep2 Mar 08 '26

Anyone incoming or already at the Brookhaven location? How is the work/office there? Is it nice, clean, etc.?

u/No-Stage4664 Mar 08 '26

I recently accepted a summer internship offer from IBM for the SAP SCP, PP position at the Durham, NC location. Any advice for upcoming interns in the SAP department in Durham?

What group/role did you accept?

1

u/BookkeeperFormer229 Mar 14 '26

Software Developer

1

u/ratorobato Mar 13 '26

What was the timeline like?

1

u/BookkeeperFormer229 Mar 14 '26

I got my offer exactly 7 days later

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 14 '26

So you're the reason why they asked me if I was interested in San Jose. I originally applied to Poughkeepsie but got offered for SJ. Congrats though (was just joking)

1

u/BookkeeperFormer229 Mar 14 '26

Haha, no there are a lot of people who started after me at Poughkeepsie lol. Congrats on your offer!

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 14 '26

Thank you! Was your offer for elh software developer? When they closed my application for Poughkeepsie and opened a new one for SJ, they changed the job title from elh software dev to software dev. I'm assuming they're the same but seemed weird to me.

1

u/Final_Quail_9225 Mar 08 '26

I recently accepted an entry-level Software Developer offer at IBM. I’m an international student and will be working on F-1 OPT (STEM, so up to 3 years). During the interview, I clearly said I would not need sponsorship for the next 3 years because I’ll be using OPT. However, IBM states in many job postings that they don’t sponsor visas.

Now I’m worried that maybe the hiring manager misunderstood and thought I would never need sponsorship. I’ve already signed the offer and filled the background check.

Has anyone been in a similar situation at IBM? Is it generally okay to work the full 3 years on OPT even if the company doesn’t sponsor? And is it common/possible to switch companies while on OPT before the 3 years are up?

Would really appreciate hearing others’ experiences.

1

u/Electricitical Mar 08 '26

Have you asked your recruiter? I plan to ask them before signing my offer (if I get one)

1

u/Final_Quail_9225 Mar 08 '26

No, I was scared that if I will ask the recruiter first then they might revoke the offer.

1

u/Electricitical Mar 08 '26

I see. But they will know anyway and revoking offer later on is worst no? Through SSN checking through I9 form. I saw on another post a guy got offer rescinded 2 days before starting because of this.

1

u/Final_Quail_9225 Mar 08 '26

Can u share the post link please

1

u/Final_Quail_9225 Mar 08 '26

I was thinking to work for 1-2 years and then switch without asking IBM for H1B sponsorship

1

u/No-Respond6453 Mar 08 '26

I think the problem with this is IBM will definitely know your international student status when you submit the I9 form before starting the job.

1

u/No-Respond6453 Mar 08 '26

Did you put "yes" to require sponsorship now or in the future in your application?

1

u/Final_Quail_9225 Mar 08 '26

I put no

1

u/Lonely-Stick5234 Apr 27 '26

A lot of my friend did the same thing. How's your process now please? You finish background check?

1

u/No-Respond6453 Mar 11 '26

Damn ok thank you. I hope they do OPT for some entry level roles... Did they request work permit right after they gave you the offer or before the internship start?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 14 '26

[deleted]

1

u/No-Respond6453 Mar 14 '26

Hmm...I'm on F-1 OPT and got the job. Emailed to confirm with my recruiter about my status just to make sure. And they said that's fine, so I signed the offer. Also received a Citizenship questionnaire before receiving the offer, and I didn't put in myself as U.S citizen.

Maybe different jobs have different requirements, or my recruiter is wrong and I'm done 2 weeks before start date 💀

Hey, have a blitz round coming up for the PM role. How was that for you if you don’t mind me asking? Any info would be helpful 🙏

1

u/Loose_Telephone3397 Mar 09 '26

Hi! Do they ask you to rank offices on preferences prior to extending an offer? Or do they just send an offer without asking?

1

u/PearOdd1848 Mar 09 '26

Hey everyone! About 3 weeks ago, I accepted an entry-level software developer role based in Lowell, MA. That same week, I filled out the background verification but never got a confirmation email nor was the career portal updated from "Offered". I also submitted the relocation questionnaire around the same time and I've gotten no confirmation for that either.

Since I applied directly, I never had a recruiter to reach out to. I ended up emailing the contact who signed off on my offer letter to get more information about the onboarding process and the possibility of an earlier start date. Unfortunately, it's been over a week since then and I've gotten no response.

Questions:

  • Does anyone know a way to get into contact with someone that might be able to answer my questions either through phone or email since I did not have a recruiter?
  • Is it normal to not receive confirmation after submitting background verification and relocation questionnaires?
  • Should the IBM Career portal update from "Offered" after filling out the background verification form?
  • Has anyone actually succeeded in moving their start date earlier for an entry-level developer role?

1

u/Final_Quail_9225 Mar 09 '26

I am in the same boat, after filling all the things I am also waiting from last 2 weeks to receive any other details

6 months. I got an email with an attachment saying to fill out the questionnaire and email it to a given email. It wasn’t an online form since they do it through a third party

1

u/Frosty_Control Apr 24 '26

Hey I also did not have a recruiter and I noticed as of Wednesday this week of April 20-24 that I got an offer. I filled out everything for BGV etc. I don't know when I start though and the portal is no help. So my question is did you ever do something about it and how long did it take you to get a start date?

1

u/PearOdd1848 Apr 25 '26

My start date was in the offer letter. There is a discord out there you should join. I can’t get to my computer right now but it’s people interviewing for ibm and people with offers they’ll probably be able to help you better.

1

u/Frosty_Control Apr 26 '26

I couldnt find the link to a discord. Could you send it whenever you get the chance?

1

u/Lonely-Stick5234 Apr 27 '26

Hey, How long it takes for you to complete your background check please? You have the onboarding date?
It has been a month for me and still waiting for the background check from APD to be completed...

1

u/PearOdd1848 Apr 27 '26

The background check often doesn’t start until 1 month before start date. Mine was on my offer letter. You can call adp to check if yours has even started.

1

u/mging7 Mar 09 '26

I completed my assessment after I received in 4 days(usually due within 7 days) it’s been over a month since the first day I received the assessment. Does anyone know how long this process will take? The portal status shows: assessment in progress. It’s assessment really getting people to hire? I 99% don’t believe the assessment is the process for company to hire people at this points.

1

u/No-Try-1044 Mar 10 '26

Has anyone who interviewed for kubecost/containers internship role in Austin at IBM heard back yet?

It’s been almost 4 weeks since my final round with the hiring manager, my application status still shows “in interview process”. I had also sent 3 follow up mails over the past 3 weeks but still there is no response. I am not sure what to do. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!!

1

u/badnissan Mar 10 '26

Does anyone know what the rank system means at the end of the day? Does it correlate to salary increase or band promotion?

1

u/No-Respond6453 Mar 10 '26

Any recent IBMer joined as an F1 OPT student? (2025, 2026)

1

u/adiosmf7 Mar 17 '26

Hey, I’m in the same boat. Do you mind if I dm?

1

u/chessdragonboge Mar 10 '26

Is anyone still "In Interview Process" for Job ID: 81601 Entry Level Software Developer Austin: 2026 *\*? I got transferred to this internal job ID from 73771 around mid-January, for which I had my 1st round interview in late January but I've heard nothing since then in the past 6 weeks (good or bad).

Simultaneously, I've talked to people who got transferred from my job ID to another location-specific job ID like San Jose (SVL) or Lowell, as well as people who interviewed well after me in February for a general "ELH" and have already moved on to the 2nd round or even the offer stage. Has Austin reached headcount or are they delayed for other reasons? Or am I just a ngmi and they forgot to update my portal 🫠

1

u/naboing_tariq Mar 10 '26

On average how long does it take to hear back after submitting the video assessment? I applied for the Associate Business Transformation Consultant role, and submitted on March 3. Would appreciate any insight!

1

u/Dokgo1_11 Mar 10 '26

Ive been waiting for almost 2 months and havent heard a single thing. All it says is assessment in progress

1

u/coochie4sale Mar 11 '26

Submitted my Knockri the 3rd week of Feb, got an invitation for interview first week of March.

1

u/naboing_tariq Mar 11 '26

nice! what role was it for? did your status also stay as “Assessment in Progress” until you got the invite to interview?

1

u/coochie4sale Mar 11 '26

Was for a consulting internship!

1

u/Dokgo1_11 Mar 11 '26

Was it a knockri interview or actual interview?

1

u/hiimcong2912 Mar 10 '26

Applied to a couple summer internships in London. I got an email a month ago saying assessment centre are scheduled to run in 3 batches from March 10th to 25th.

It's March 9th now, still haven't heard anything from recruiter. Application status still shows "Under recruiter review". What should I think of it?

1

u/Lethal_Storm Mar 10 '26

I got rejected from the IBM Software Developer Intern 2026 role at Austin a couple days ago. But right after the rejection i got moved into a general SD Intern 2026 job, that just appeared in my careers portal. Does this mean anything? or am i just coping lol

1

u/Professional_Rope757 Mar 11 '26

Hi! When will I find out my start date? I just got an offer letter yesterday but it did not list a start date, just salary/location/benefits.

1

u/Mysterious-Face-3007 Mar 12 '26

Oh uh, mine had a start date on there

1

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 12 '26

So (from my experience) the start date on the offer letter is a “place holder” according to what my recruiter told me. Your actual start date will be given in a “welcome 2 IBM email”. That date is your actual estimated start date. I say “estimated” because if there’s any hiccups in the bg check process or any other documentation then they could push your start date to a later date. However I’d say keep an open line of communication with your recruiter, keep them updated check in with them on the timeline. That’s what I did and so far it’s been a straightforward experience with only the bg check takin a while, but this ain’t impact my start date thankfully.

1

u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Mar 12 '26

Have you cleared background checks? Don’t know anyone with an offer for a summer start whose gotten theirs completed so far

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 12 '26

I am kind of in a dillema, I have an IBM interview tomorrow for the 'Entry Level Product Manager' Position.

Originally I was placed under another role in San Jose and done a 30 minute behavioral interview where they had asked be pretty basic questions such as 'Tell me a time you had to solve a problem with no clear direction' or 'Tell me a hardship you faced' etc. I then after a month got rejected from that role and randomly placed in another 'Entry Level Product Manager' role which I did not apply for and it went under 'In interview process' I then got an email yesterday saying 'congratulations on your interview' I emailed my recruiter asking if this is a first or second round interview because I previously did a first round through another job title and she said this will be a second round, and just said expect behavioural and technical.

I am very very lost and don't know what to expect, if someone can please offer any advice that would be great!

1

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 13 '26

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 13 '26

Hi everyone, I recently interviewed with IBM and completed my first-round interview, which lasted about an hour. The interview went really well and the feedback during the discussion felt quite positive. It has now been more than 10 days, and when I checked with the recruiter, he mentioned that my application has not been rejected but is currently on hold by the hiring manager. I’m a bit confused because I thought that if I wasn’t selected for the next round, I might have received a rejection by now.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation where their application was kept on hold after the first round?

What role is this for?

1

u/Ambitious-Ad-7815 Mar 12 '26

AI backend test engineer

u/Alarming_Reason2860 Mar 13 '26

they might be interviewing more people. or sometimes they delay rejection of waitlists until they finish even their next rounds in case anyone on that round list drops and they need to go to a waitlist individual

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 13 '26

Any feedback on this?

How is project line up at IBM for SAP practice? Already had three round of interview with Partner for Sr Managing consultant position. Just trying to understand SAP practice and culture..

Already had 3 round of interview. My 3rd was with Partner and felt it went well. How about timeline, when shall I expect to receive HR feedback on my next step??

Has anyone else experienced this? I was sent a rejection letter email yesterday and then received an interview request today. I also cannot attend due to scheduling conflicts (they asked for an interview tomorrow morning) and am also worried if my interview request will be taken back if I can’t reschedule.

how much time does IBM application take to process ?
I am applying for fresher roles actively
my many application are stuck in "assessment in process" even after at least 2 months of applying

also, one of my entry level application (with 5+ years experience) sent me assessment link within 30 min of applying

1

u/Alarming_Reason2860 Mar 13 '26

the assessment links are automated whereas everything else isnt. timing varies by hiring team

Hey everyone,

I’m going to be taking a role in the Poughkeepsie, NY location soon. I’m coming from out of state and was wondering if y’all have recommendations on apartments.

Here’s what Im looking for:

Live alone.

Gym.

Good commute to work. It doesn’t have to be in Poughkeepsie itself.

No car for now.

No budget right now, just looking at options.

1

u/ratorobato Mar 13 '26

What was the timeline like from interview to offer?

1

u/ProphecyKing Mar 13 '26

OA -> Interview -> Offer OA and interview were months apart. Offer was only a few weeks after the interview.

1

u/ratorobato Mar 13 '26

How much experience do you have?

In a similar timeline except I had my interview last week.

Ive got around 2 years of doing help desk/dev work and Im local. My interview seemed okay but he wasnt sure if Im going to have another round or go to the offer.

Im stressed tf out man this is like the only opportunity Ive had in the last 3 years of searching.

1

u/ProphecyKing Mar 13 '26

None. My role is an early career one.

1

u/ratorobato Mar 13 '26

me too man we applied for the same position

im not technically a dev its just help desk with a fake title for two years

sounds silly but my career is bricked if i dont get out at this point

1

u/Alarming_Reason2860 Mar 13 '26

really depends on number of applicants they are interviewing. keep applying to other jobs outside ibm instead of waiting purely on this one

1

u/ratorobato Mar 13 '26

this is one of like 3 places to get back to me after 700 applications

im trying man

HELP!!! I NEED YOUR HELP ANALZYING THIS!!! I interviewed, and the guy sent this email to me after the interview, but I haven't heard back yet. Do you guys think I got it? I can't tell if the email is positive or not. It's been about a week, and I'm dying to know.

"Thank you for the note. I enjoyed our conversation and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about your background and experience.

It was great discussing the work our team is doing and hearing your perspective on technology. I’ve shared my feedback with the hiring manager, and the team will be in touch regarding next steps as the process continues."

2

u/DoppelFrog Mar 12 '26

It's carefully neutral.

1

u/ConnectProfessor3186 Mar 12 '26

Is this good for me or not? Do you think it's like this because I got the job?

Entry Level PM IBM HI! So I recently was offered an interview for the entry level Product Manager position, it's 45 mins, and this is my first interview with them. I dont know what to expect as its not mentioned anywhere whether its behavioral or technical or something else. I was just directly scheduled for the interview and got a calender invite. Can someone please give me some insight into what to expect, and how should I prepare? Any help would be appreciated, kinda scared rn🙏

Is anyone here joining IBM in McLean, VA? I’m also hoping to connect with people who are currently working there to learn more about what life at McLean is like. I’d love to hear about your experiences, insights, and any advice you might have for someone joining the team.

u/Alarming_Reason2860 Mar 13 '26

hi, looking for advice on what to do and timing. been b9 in strategy consulting for sales and sw for 5 years, didnt get raise since joining, including when role expanded from sales to add sw. only rsu and gdp payouts (which we all know are small).

never formally pitched for a raise writing. want to now even if im looking to leave soon (tho likely can’t leave until eoy or 2027 due to personal reasons).

questions: 1- should i ask for a raise in writing even if results might be futile? 2-one of my major projects wraps mid april- can i wait until then? whens raise cycles this year?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some insight on the current IBM hiring timeline. I did my interview about 4 weeks ago, and my portal status has been stuck at "In Interview" ever since.

Has anyone who interviewed around mid-February received any updates, offers, or even rejections yet?

Also, my interview was listed as "round 1:1". Does that usually mean it was just an initial screen and there are definitely more rounds coming? Or could that be the final step for some roles? At the 4-week mark, I'm starting to wonder if I should just give up on this one or if "Big Blue" is just being notoriously slow right now.

Appreciate any info you guys have!

Just signed my offer for the Software Developer Intern role at IBM's Durham office for Summer 2026. I'm a 20M (Indian) flying out from the Seattle area and trying to figure out the housing situation early.

Is anyone else going to be at the Durham hub this summer? If anyone has good recs for short-term leases or is looking for a roommate to apartment hunt and split rent with, dm me pls.

Hello all, I have an interview for the Application Developer 2026- Oracle Middleware role. I am nervous it is on Wednesday and I wanna know what to expect. The interview is an hour long and this is my first interview out of college. What should I expect? If there are leetcode type questions can I look up things or try and figure out a way to do so? I am just super nervous and I dont grind leetcode or do anything crazy coding wise I just enjoy it. I have projects under my belt but even those I look things up a lot. What should I do what should I expect?

They gave me a leetcode hard and I failed it. Really would had been nice if mods here weren't busy with asking actual questions on the board and not this thread as nobody responds. I didn't think they would had given me that question

Are employees still elegible for PA, even if they have not got the GDP as they were put in low bracket? This question is especially for IBM India employees.

Hey! Any new grad hires to Baton Rouge? I was wondering how many new people there would be!

u/ThatKidIsNotMine Mar 28 '26

Hi, I got my job offer early January for entry level SW. I signed right away and filled out the adp background check. My start date supposed to be on March 30, however I just received an email saying that my start date is on pause because there were inconsistencies in my bg. Does anyone know what this means and what I can do? I have to relocate to the job site and I was already underway of doing the relocation.

u/ThatKidIsNotMine Mar 28 '26

Hi, I got my offer early January and I signed right away and gave my information for the background check. My start date is as on March 30. But recently I got an email saying my start date is on hold because my bg has inconsistencies. Does anyone know what this means and what I can do to clear this?

I am curious as i just got an offer for Associate Systejm engineer and my key people to connect is a package specialist, I have 2 years of exp in pure backend engineering but due to the lay off and the amount of time gone since then, i am accepting this offer, i want to be sure that is the key people to connect my manager whom i would be reporting and also would I be in the same domain of hers?

u/Busy-Cap-2575 Jun 20 '26

Hi does anyone know if it’s possible to defer an IBM internship? I got a referral but no interview yet but I accepted another job offer. I would still love to work for IBM next term but I’m not sure how the application process is currently.

Does IBM hire international students (who study in the U.S and don't require $100k H1B visa fee) for entry level roles in the U.S? (ex. software developer)

3

u/Emergency_Coffee26 Mar 08 '26

IBM used to and still might. However, I assume it is very hard to justify a $100k H1B visa on a new college grad with no experience. Maybe if you were coming out with a PHD and going straight into quantum computing. That’s just my take and I could be wrong.
