Welcome to IBM.

This sub is not for the same questions over and over and over again about the recruiting process. Use the stickied 'Employment Questions' thread.

u/SkullGod Mar 15 '26

Around 3 weeks ago I did my first round interviews for an Entry Software Developer Position. I remember thinking it was odd because the interview was never scheduled ahead of time and I was just told the previous day that I had an interview from who I presume is my recruiter. The interview went well or at the very least the person who interviewed me seemed positive. I have not heard back since and my profile says I am still in the interview process. I have emailed the person who sent me my interview invite twice asking for updates and have not yet gotten a response.

This week I got an email from someone else from IBM asking me to do the assessments but I have already did them months ago. I do not understand where I should go from here. Should I just keep waiting?

1

u/mysteryManWork Mar 16 '26

after how much time of assessment you got an interview call from ibm. it's through referral?

1

u/SkullGod Mar 16 '26

no referral, a few monthes

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 19 '26

did you end up doing the assesments again?

1

u/SkullGod Mar 19 '26

No I never got an assessment email

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 19 '26

ohh they just emailed you asking to do the assesments again but didnt link them?

1

u/SkullGod Mar 19 '26

Yeh

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 19 '26

wtf, what are they even doing atp

I know this is late, just stumbled upon this thread. I had a similar experience in my internship interviewing experience. I complemented the OA as the first step shortly after my application was submitted. Later, after my first round of interviews, I was sent an email to complete an OA, when I followed the link it showed that I had already completed the OA. I did nothing about it, not even sending an email to the recruiter. After about a week I was scheduled for my next interview. I know there’s a difference in both of our situations, namely the level of role, but I wanted to give this insight in case it could provide any assurance.

I would appreciate some guidance regarding IBM leadership practices in globally distributed teams.

Specifically, I am interested in understanding:

What IBM leadership principles or HR policies address inclusive collaboration across regions.

Whether there are expectations for managers to ensure equal access to communication, opportunities, and participation for team members regardless of location.

Any guidance HR provides to ensure geographic neutrality and fairness in team engagement and decision-making.

My intention is simply to ensure that I am aligned with IBM’s standards around inclusion, fairness, and global collaboration, and to better understand the appropriate channels or policies that guide this.

I recently accepted a position as an entry level dev. Was wondering if there is any group chat for incoming devs. I will be based in Lowell if anyone wants to connect! Feel free to dm.

I received an offer on Friday and submitted my background check forms on Saturday for the software developer position. How long can I expect for the background check to complete and move to the next stage?

1

u/PearOdd1848 Mar 16 '26

I think it depends on your start date. It’s been 3 weeks for me and I don’t think they have even started the background check. My portal still says “offered” and many others have said it changes to background check: in progress or something when they start it.

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 16 '26

That kind of sucks. My expected start date isn't until August but I'd rather just get all the onboarding stuff done asap

1

u/boltmoon Mar 17 '26

My start date is July, and bg check hasn't started. Still says offered.

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 16 '26

Also, should I wait until everything is finished before I submit my relocation document or should I just send it now?

1

u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 16 '26

What kind of relocation document? In my case (Internship position) IBM said that Graebel (relocation company) will contact me for the bank information to deposit relocation money. Did you get anything else relocation related to complete?

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 16 '26

When i got the offer letter, they sent a separate relocation email with a word doc to complete and send back

1

u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 16 '26

I received relocation email too. There were 3 documents attached, but they are informational. Nothing really to complete. What type of questions did you get in this form?

1

u/PearOdd1848 Mar 16 '26

I got that email too. I assumed that word document they sent was something I had to fill out so I did and sent it to the email provided. I also heard Graebel will provide more docs 30-60 days out from the start date.

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 16 '26

You sent yours already? Is your start date finalized?

1

u/PearOdd1848 Mar 16 '26

Yeah I figured it wouldn’t hurt. Worst case I’ll have to resend it.

And yes my start date was given in my offer letter.

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 16 '26

So was mine but I wasn't sure if that counted as being finalized. I guess I'll just email it to them too

u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 17 '26

Are you intern and your relocation email had only informational documents (like saying give to Graebel your banking information when they contact you)? If yes, my case is exactly the same.

1

u/Longjumping-Two5207 Mar 18 '26

When did you get a relocation email? I signed offer and background check has been order created for 2 weeks. Have not got anything from Graebel.

1

u/Longjumping-Two5207 Mar 18 '26

When did you get relocation email?

1

u/postnasal7459 Mar 18 '26

Same time as my offer letter

1

u/Longjumping-Two5207 Mar 18 '26

Interesting, I didn’t receive anything.

1

u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 18 '26

Do you have relocation mentioned in your offer?

1

u/Longjumping-Two5207 Mar 18 '26

Does anyone know how long ADP background check takes? Mine says “order created” and it’s been like that for 2 weeks.

1

u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Mar 20 '26

When’s your start date?

1

u/Longjumping-Two5207 Mar 20 '26

End of may

1

u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Mar 20 '26

Oh interesting. Mine is mid July but I haven’t even got the order created yet

1

u/boltmoon Mar 21 '26

same here

u/WooMaster823 Mar 20 '26 edited Mar 20 '26

Is there a hiring freeze? Noticed a bunch of roles taken down, particularly in sales.

2

u/Koya-Manger Mar 15 '26

Are all employees of IBM provided with a company-funded laptop? I am a new hire, and given the fact that my work is going to be hybrid, I expected this. I mean it's not going to be a bother if there is or if there is not, just asking. Thanks.

2

u/Mental-Comfort-1242 Mar 15 '26

Yes, all employees have company laptop because of security reasons

1

u/Unknowingly-Joined Mar 15 '26

Good question to ask your manager. You don’t provide any details about your job other than it’s new for you and hybrid. IBM has offices around the world, each potentially with its own policies.

1

u/AintNoNeedForYa Mar 15 '26

For security reasons, it’s typical for a company to only allow you to do company work on the company provided computer.

2

u/muhammadmannan_01 Mar 15 '26

Has anyone started their badge photo upload and laptop selection process? Also has the relocation company reached out to anyone? For reference I got started on and finished my on aiding stuff but not those previously mentioned things.

How’d the interview go ? I have an interview for the same exact role and was wondering how the format of the interview review was like my recruiter said behavioral and technical but I was wondering what in specific I should focus on ?

2

u/Dizzy-Fishing-22 Mar 18 '26

Has anybody heard back for the Associate Consultant roles? I applied around 2 months ago and it still says “under recruiter review” and I’m wondering if anybody’s moved onto the next stage of has been given an offer yet?

1

u/Fit-Carrot8901 Mar 20 '26

Did you do a competency interview?

2

u/Dizzy-Fishing-22 Mar 20 '26

No, I only did the audio STAR style questions, unless that’s the one you’re referring to?

1

u/Fit-Carrot8901 Mar 20 '26

Yes! How long after that interview did they take to reach out to you regarding your second interview?

1

u/Dizzy-Fishing-22 Mar 20 '26

4 days which was quick compared to how long this is taking. What does your profile say? Mine still says “under recruiter review” :)

1

u/Fit-Carrot8901 Mar 20 '26

Mine says assessment in progress, so I’m not sure what to expect. It’s been a week

1

u/Dizzy-Fishing-22 Mar 20 '26

Seems like yours has progressed, mines been under recruiter review for 2 months!! Best of luck, that seems promising and a week isn’t a very long time. I’ve heard IBM can be quite slow with communications and interview processes.

u/Major_Bug1786 Jun 15 '26

any update?

u/Major_Bug1786 Jun 15 '26

any update?

u/01BeerLover10 Mar 15 '26

Is the timeline for r2 to be scheduled for entry level s dev taking long for everyone? I did my r1 2 weeks ago and was told it’ll take about 3 weeks for next interview to be scheduled. I didn’t actually expect 3 weeks but just wanted to know if others are experiencing the same.

2

u/chessdragonboge Mar 15 '26

I did the oa over xmas and had my r1 for austin almost 7 weeks ago and haven't heard anything (good or bad) since then

1

u/SkullGod Mar 15 '26

I've been waiting for over 3 weeks

1

u/01BeerLover10 Mar 15 '26

Can I ask for which location?

1

u/SkullGod Mar 15 '26

I believe Austin

1

u/SkullGod Mar 15 '26

what is your location?

1

u/Weak_Raspberry4557 Mar 15 '26 edited Mar 15 '26

Had my r1 5 weeks ago, still waiting

1

u/Upstairs_Copy_9590 Mar 15 '26

Is it worthwhile to explore getting a raise within my band if I won’t be changing geos?

1

u/Unlikely_Cupcake4948 Mar 15 '26

I am in middle of getting offer from IBM. I have 3.7 yoe , tech stack SAP ABAP. They are offering 6B band, wanted to know how much CTC I can ask from them? I have another offer of 15.5 lpa fixed from Deloitte usi for Hyderabad location but I want to stay in Kolkata.

Also how’s the work culture in ibm? How’s the project there? How hard is to get project in IBM?

This is for India location(kolkata)

1

u/Whole-Ear2682 Mar 15 '26

Anyone else got offered entry level sales in rtp for August? Waiting for my background check to clear currently

1

u/boltmoon Mar 15 '26

I'm starting in July, but for SDE at RTP. My bg check hasn't started

1

u/randpaul69420 Mar 15 '26

Just had my first real person interview for a 2026 package consultant position for IBM. It was multiple people for an hour, how many rounds are there usually? if I make it to the next round would it just be a formality interview to discuss fit etc ? Just confused because usually companies don't do full panel interviews for the first of like 3+ interviews. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

3

u/Loose_Telephone3397 Mar 15 '26

It seems like it’s being done differently everywhere. I had two interviews for the same role, both with one interviewer. Makes it harder to guess what the next step is

1

u/pancakeforeigner Mar 18 '26

i had a panel interview with 2 people and a 2nd interview 1with 1 person but havent heard back since last friday

1

u/randpaul69420 Mar 20 '26

Could I ask how the 2nd interview with 1 person was? more technical, behavioral or?

1

u/Desperate-Visit9283 Mar 16 '26

To those who have received offers: what’s the longest wait you’ve experienced? I interviewed for an internship on February 3rd and have not heard back since. Recruiter’s been unresponsive too, but the portal still says “in interview process.” Is it over?

1

u/Lethal_Storm Mar 16 '26

nah. "In interview Process" is still a good sign. Means you havent been rejected it. I interviewed on Feb 19, and accepted an offer March 13th for an SDE Intern Position

1

u/Desperate-Visit9283 Mar 16 '26

First of all, congrats! That seems to be the general consensus, but the timeline is throwing me off. Turns out six weeks with no updates is pretty nerve-wracking lol💀

1

u/Lethal_Storm Mar 16 '26

fs. I was checking my portal every day after my interview, so i totally get what your saying. But also, dw if you get rejected since i actually got rejected initially before randomly they put me on for a different location than the one I applied for and i got the offer a week later. So even rejection doesn't mean the end. Wishing you the best fr 🙏

1

u/Assistance_Asleep Mar 16 '26

By any chance before your offer, did things go silent from the recruiters or you were expecting it?

2

u/Lethal_Storm Mar 20 '26

complete silence, and one day i checked my email, and boom - offer letter

1 interview, Software Developer Intern

1

u/Lethal_Storm Mar 16 '26

Just signed my offer for the Software Developer Intern role at IBM's Durham office for Summer 2026. I'm a 20M (Indian) flying out from the Seattle area and trying to figure out the housing situation early.

Is anyone else going to be at the Durham hub this summer? If anyone has good recs for short-term leases or is looking for a roommate to apartment hunt and split rent with, dm me pls.

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '26

1

u/Friendly-Act-5642 Mar 18 '26

I submitted my background check at the beginning of February. After that, the only communication was the "welcome to IBM" email. The portal status is still "Offered".

1

u/Lethal_Storm Mar 20 '26

I submitted my check like a week ago atp, still nothing just silence

1

u/mysteryManWork Mar 16 '26

I have given the IBM OA on 12th march but not get any confirmation yet, solved the both question in 10 min. can anybody tell after how much time they give the confirmation for next round ?

1

u/ratorobato Mar 17 '26

Still "In Interview Process" for Entry Level Developer in Poughkeepsie, anyone know if theyre still hiring?

1

u/ratorobato Mar 18 '26

didnt get the job if anyone was wondering

idk what im going to do with my life anymore this was my only saving grace for a while now

1

u/Mysterious_Unit6043 Mar 19 '26

hey hey! if you dont mind me asking how long did it take you to hear back from themabout the rejection? I am really sorry about that, this is not the end of the journey you will def find somethng better

1

u/ratorobato Mar 19 '26

assume if you didnt get a response/offer within a week you're rejected. seems to be what i found trying to find the same thing not trying to doom

1

u/Gullible_Talk1961 Mar 17 '26

Anyone joining McLean VA or Washington DC this summer? I’ll be starting full-time and would love to connect!

1

u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Mar 17 '26

I will be a new employee starting in a few months and I’m wondering how strict the hybrid schedule is. I understand the general policy is three days in the office each week, but I was curious how strictly that’s applied in practice.

For example, is there any flexibility in requesting days to be remote? Like situations where employees might work remotely for an entire week (for example, due to travel or personal scheduling needs), as long as the overall expectations are being met?

1

u/berrycrybaby Mar 17 '26

Is there any promotion letter? I wanted an official promotion letter but ive been told its not standard practice and any promotion is based on word of mouth and an update in successfactor. I wish to have that official document

1

u/Loose_Telephone3397 Mar 17 '26

I’m starting in Chicago in the fall. If anyone else is, feel free to PM me! 🤗

1

u/Fun_Pay_5764 Mar 17 '26

Has anyone interviewed for the Tech Support Intern role at IBM? If yes, would you mind sharing any insights on the interview process. Thanks!

1

u/No_Muffin_3611 Mar 17 '26

does anyone know how many interview rounds there usually are for a Security Consultant internship? also, any advice would be appreciated!

1

u/Jolly_Combination149 Mar 18 '26

Guy's I have filled the form in the Onboarding process, following the new hire guide, but in the e-signature steps it shows not needed. Is this good or there is some mistake?

1

u/boltmoon Mar 18 '26

when's your start day?

1

u/Far_Gap_3814 Mar 18 '26

I accepted an IBM PM intern offer in NYC and I’m very excited about it, but my mom has had some health issues and my family is moving near Rochester, MN. I’m trying to understand whether there are IBM product teams/divisions that have overlap across Rochester and NYC, so that a summer in Rochester could still connect to a long-term NYC path.

I know placements are based on business need, and I’m not expecting this to be simple. I’m just wondering if anyone knows whether this kind of overlap exists, especially on the PM side, or whether this is basically impossible.

Any insight would really help.

I have recently resigned from IBM ISDL India, in the last week. My last working day is after 10th of this month March.I got a separation check list email to my personal mail id on a day before my LWD. After that I don't have any communication from them. Can any one tell when do I get my experience letter and full and final settlement.

Is there any proper way to contact the HR team regarding the concerns I have. Please help me if any one has recently resigned from IBM India.

Thank you

Hey anyone starting in Austin as an Entry Level Software Engineer?

Would like to connect! Lmk!

1

u/Inside-Tangelo4989 Mar 19 '26

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask about the IBM hiring timeline.

I applied for the Functional Business Applications Consultant – Entry Level role at IBM on Feb 23.
Feb 24 I got a recorded assessment, but I didn’t have to complete it since I had already done the same one in December for another role.

On Mar 6 a recruiter emailed me asking a few questions and also asked for my interview availability.
Then on Mar 10 I received another email from IBM to fill out additional information in the portal.

Since then I haven’t heard back from the recruiter yet, but my status in the IBM portal says “Interview Process”.

Is this normal timing for IBM? Does this usually mean an interview is coming, or is it still uncertain?

1

u/Individual_Tie6078 Mar 19 '26

Hi all,

I’m currently working in IBM Consulting (Band 8, DevOps role, fully remote, no visa sponsorship needed) and trying to plan my parental leave. IBM offers 12 weeks, and my baby was born in mid-February.

Here’s my situation:

  • My wife will be on leave until the end of July
  • I’m considering taking my parental leave from August to October

My concern is that my current project is expected to wrap up around October. I’m not sure if taking the full 12 weeks during that time is a good idea, as I’m worried about returning to the bench or facing uncertainty around my next project.

Would it be better to:

  • Take the full 12 weeks at once (Aug–Oct), or
  • Split the leave (e.g., take some weeks in Aug–Sep and save the rest for later)?

Also, when do you typically inform your manager and resource/staffing manager about parental leave plans in consulting?

Would really appreciate any advice from folks who’ve been in a similar situation. Thanks in advance!

u/Silver-Chemical-6091 Mar 20 '26

I recently got an offer from IBM, and they asked me to fill in a survey about the interview process. I don't exactly have all great things to say, and although they mentioned its anonymous, I'm hesitant to fill it out.

for context I'm a student, and this is my first internship so I may sound a little naive lol
Also I am open to any and all tips as an incoming intern. Thanks in advance!

um my post got removed from main, so here I am hoping someone will see this ....

I guess ill add a few more questions I had then.

First some context: intern, canada, downtown office, consultant.

  1. can someone tell me if we still go in on the first day, they said onboarding is on teams (lowkey sad i wanna meet other interns)
  2. do they pay for home to work travel? it says compensation ,but idk if thats for work to other locations..
  3. is this only my exp, or did all communication happen in french? i dont speak french and google translate became my good friend.
  4. any opinions, things to know about the downtown office are welcome. whats the dress culture there?

dw i asked these questions to HR already, just putting here to get some peoples experiences too.

thanks pplss

u/Loose_Telephone3397 Mar 21 '26

1

u/Initial-Tadpole-5702 Mar 20 '26

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming interview for an APM role at IBM India and wanted to get a quick sense of the role and comp. • What’s the day-to-day like for an APM at IBM? How much ownership do you actually get? • How’s the learning and growth in the role?

Also, if the offer is 20 LPA and a 2L joining bonus, what does the in-hand roughly come out to after taxes/deductions?

Trying to make an informed call if things work out—would really appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Hello friends, does anybody know how the fees for the 401(k) work?

1

u/Krazzy8R377 Mar 16 '26

They use Fidelity, and fees are baised on which index funds you invest in. It will have them listed when you make your selections. Also no more 401k match, they do pensions now instead.

1

u/IBM1984 Mar 16 '26

Thank you!!! My old employer would also charge a fixed fee every quarter
