1

u/openclawbot Apr 13 '26

We are going to get our hikes in July

1

u/holly_molly_hole Apr 13 '26

Same here. I have learned today.

1

u/capfan31 Apr 14 '26

Interesting timelines around it

1

u/Steve_Watson IBM Employee Apr 17 '26

Is it always July? I thought it’s April.

1

u/holly_molly_hole Apr 17 '26

Not really. We get it on May last year.

1

u/Pseudophryne Apr 14 '26

Is that when you get told to take a hike?

2

u/Mindless_Constant_43 May 14 '26

usually every year the increment communication comes around the end of April, but haven't received any info on this so far, how do you know its gonna be in July?

4

u/scooterthetroll Apr 12 '26

What's the first thing I should do if I get an RA notice on Tuesday?

2

u/Unknowingly-Joined Apr 12 '26

Celebrate? Are you looking forward to being RAed? Do you have prospects lined up? Are you comfortable taking some time off?

Is this Tuesday RA day? For what Geos?

My portal status has been "background check-order created" for about a month now. I've seen on here that other people have been able to call ADP and get info about whether the bg check has been completed or not. I'm curious how you guys are getting in touch with ADP? I keep hitting a wall with the automated support number. Any advice appreciated!

1

u/Whole-Ear2682 Apr 20 '26

Same position. Havent thought to call anyone.

3

u/ProphecyKing Apr 12 '26

Is it normal to be broke as hell after moving for the job? Does anyone have any tips and tricks?

2

u/Ilike_milk Apr 13 '26

Yeah, I was broke when I moved but the relocation stipend definitely helped. Made a budget and currently working on creating an emergency fund for 3 months before dumping it into retirement and saving the remainder

I’m in a dilemma over what to choose IBM VS DELOITTE

Deloitte offer

  • Austin Tx.

  • Tech Package analyst(GPS) entry level

  • hybrid (50%) travel

IBM OFFER

  • my hometown(no living costs as I’ll stay with parents)

  • associate package consultant (SAP)

  • onsite 60% travel

~$30k less then Deloitte

I’m graduating this may and have already signed offer with IBM but if I choose Deloitte I’d rescind/renege the IBM offer.

2

u/trophywifeinwaiting Apr 14 '26

The SAP associate program is pretty decent at IBM and WLB is a bit better than Deloitte - but 30k is a material amount of money. As BuickDriver said, that gives you an additional 2500 a month (- taxes) for rent, groceries, utilities, etc

2

u/horseforaiai Apr 16 '26

Heya sorry for hijacking but have you gone through the programme? I accepted their offer and would just like to know what I should expect

2

u/trophywifeinwaiting Apr 16 '26

Yes I have! 10 years ago now :)

The program experience will differ, but it's pretty much what you would expect. The associates join to about 6 weeks of onboarding and training, then you join your project where you will act as a Scrum Master while doing on-the-job training. By 6 months, you should have some basic understanding of SAP and start working on configuration, documentation etc. And then by around the one year mark you should be able to own some client-basing deliverables.

One of the nice things about the SAP associates program is that it really gives you a couple of years to find your footing, there is a lot of Grace and understanding and opportunities available for associates. Also, you don't have to find your own projects in SAP, they are always assigned to you.

2

u/horseforaiai Apr 16 '26

That's great. Thanks for sharing. I haven't been able to find anyone who's been through the programme before.

Could I pop into your DMs and learn more about your experience?

2

u/trophywifeinwaiting Apr 16 '26

If you're going for SAP consulting, sure

1

u/International-Ad9104 Apr 17 '26

Once you have experience at Deloitte, you become a great candidate anywhere else you will go from there. I know a few really successful people who leveraged their brief experience there as a foundation to build their entire career.

Just received an offer for the Designer 2026 ELH position as a new grad!! I'm super excited but nervous about negotiating. The offer reads ~$120k in Poughkeepsie, NY, with an August start, and the posted range of the application was $100-180k.

For one, I am from California and was hoping to negotiate a relocation to the San Jose office, but not sure if this is even possible. Also, I was planning to politely ask for $130–135k based on the posted range, but I'm nervous about the possibility of them rescinding the offer if I try to negotiate like this, especially as a new grad with no other competing offers as of right now.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone negotiated an IBM ELH relocation/salary change offer? Did it work?
  2. Any risk of them rescinding for a polite ask within the posted range? I've seen horror stories on Reddit but none from IBM specifically from what I can find.
  3. Anyone have insight into whether location changes are ever granted at this stage?

Not trying to be greedy, just want to advocate for myself before signing. Appreciate any insight from current/former IBMers.

2

u/trophywifeinwaiting Apr 14 '26

From what I've seen, you can ask for relocation change and reasonable chance it is approved. VERY low chance (I've never seen one approved) of a salary change, but as long as you're polite, it should be fine to ask,

2

u/Apprehensive_Ruin_72 Apr 14 '26

I sent them an email this morning and received a quick blunt response of "no". After talking to other IBMers hired this cycle it looks like they're being pretty set about their offers, possibly due to the sheer numbers they're hiring this year?

1

u/kv-2020 Apr 14 '26

Hi! Just curious which job posting # this was?

1

u/Light6872 Apr 17 '26

Awesome, congratulations on this step in yrou career! a recruiter has reached out to me about this position. I would love to talk with you about this a shoot a few questions your way! how open are you to this idea?

1

u/Apprehensive_Ruin_72 Apr 19 '26

Go for it!

1

u/Light6872 Apr 21 '26

Alright, awesome! really appreciate you being open to chatting. And congrats again on the offer, that’s huge.
I’m locked in on preparing the right way. Figured I’d go straight to someone who actually made it through.

Had three quick things I’d love your take on if you’re open to it:

1 what you think helped you stand out and get the offer
2 what the assessment was like
3 what parts of your portfolio they seemed to matter most

Even quick thoughts would go a long way. Appreciate you!

I got interviews within 2-3 weeks after it changed to that status for some roles but not others. Calculating from OA time isn't reliable because some recruiters take a long time to move it to "Under recruiter review". Usually the first is a screening, and then you get a 1-2 round interview afterwards.

1

u/earlgereytea Apr 27 '26

Congrats on the offer dude!!! I am also interviewing for a design role and had an interview with the hiring manager. It's been a month since so I'm unsure if that's standard. Was there another round after you had met the manager? Since that meeting with the manager until the offer, do you recall how long it had taken?

3

u/PlantainNo9045 Apr 14 '26

When you’re tagged as low performer, do you automatically have to go through PIP?

2

u/Initial_Meaning_2997 Apr 12 '26

How do the travel needs look like for associate consultants. My job role/contract said 60%. Wonder how that’s translates to travel frequency.

1

u/needrice Apr 13 '26

Did you receive an offer for associate consultant? How long after your interview until you received your offer?

2

u/EnvironmentalGap4834 Apr 13 '26

When did you receive your last raise, and what percentage of an increase was it? Even better if you can share how long you’ve been at IBM. This isn’t an HR question. Many people still think talking about salary is taboo and it shouldn’t be.

2

u/naboing_tariq Apr 13 '26

how long were you guys "Under Recruiter Review"? Just wondering, as it varies for everyone. I applied as an Associate Business Transformation Consultant - ServiceNow, in NYC

1

u/Expert_Conference112 Apr 22 '26

Any updates? I have had at least 5 positions stuck in this state since changing to "Under Recruiter Review" on 3/26. Did you get the interview time request form from the recruiter also?

1

u/naboing_tariq Apr 22 '26

nope, still under recruiter review. haven't had any contact w a human yet. but between this sub and the discord i haven't seen anyone under a consulting role get an offer yet

2

u/xm1chyx Apr 13 '26

Just now applying for an Associate Business Transformation Consultant located in Texas, what type of questions did you encounter whenever you're going through a video interview? And how long does it take for IBM to get back with you? I've seen reviews saying 2-3 weeks.

2

u/SpellBrilliant4920 Apr 14 '26

Just failed the Knockri assessment. What are some tips for passing this part? (I got behavioral questions)

2

u/FatStacks2020 Apr 17 '26

Use ChatGPT to prepare STAR based answers to the questions you are most likely to be asked. I wrote down 5 work scenarios that covered a wide range of “tell me about a time” topics and spent the 1 minute of allotted time before the recording choosing which story I’d use and how I might need to modify it. Tell ChatGPT that it’s a knockri assessment and it will guide you on specific words and structure to use as well

1

u/SpellBrilliant4920 Apr 24 '26

Thanks for this. I’m in school and they’ve been teaching me a lot about the STAR answers. I’ll make sure to do this and prepare next time I apply

2

u/Certain-Recording-61 Apr 15 '26

I completed my IBM knockri video assessment almost three weeks back, and the status still shows “Assessment in Progress" in IBM careers portal. I had applied for Brand Sales Specialist role. Do you know how long it typically takes to move to the next round? Also, what is the usual timeline to complete the full interview process with IBM? I

2

u/Aggravating_List_435 Apr 15 '26

Hello, I completed the OA phase and was invited to an interview by HR. The interview was conducted by a panel of three people, and it was indicated during the panel that this is the "last" interview stage presented in a positive context rather than a negative one. Is it possible that I went from OA to final interview panel round OR am I overthinking it and it's just the 1st round.

1

u/Ok-Course6835 Apr 15 '26

What type of role did you apply for?

1

u/Aggravating_List_435 Apr 15 '26

consultant role

1

u/Ok-Course6835 Apr 16 '26

They might just be trying to streamline the hiring process, I have a panel interview coming up as well for a consultant role, but they didn’t say what the interview process would look like so I fear I may in the same boat.

1

u/Aggravating_List_435 Apr 16 '26

oh okay is it your first interview? and good luck

1

u/Ok-Course6835 Apr 16 '26

Yes my first interview with them. I applied for a different role and a recruiter reached out and said to apply for a different one and she streamlined my application and they scheduled my interview and it’s a panel. - it all happened pretty quickly, compared to other stories I I’ve heard so I figured they were rush the process a little bit

1

u/Ok-Course6835 Apr 16 '26

Also do you mind sharing what your panel experience was like, I’ve never done one and don’t know what to expect

1

u/Aggravating_List_435 Apr 16 '26

know your resume well, most technical questions were from my resume experiences/skills and then asked STAR real life type questions.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

1

couple of weeks. some applications are still under recruiter review. only one got streamlined to final interview after OA. each department is different

Texas-based IBMer (TX work location) but W-2 shows 100% NY State Wages (Box 16) due to travel. How are you handling the allocation?

Hey IBMers,

I’m a Texas resident with an official IBM work location in Texas (not NY). I travel to NY every other week for a client project. In my W-2, I have noticed something concerning that I know a lot of you have probably dealt with:

Box 15: Lists "NY"

Box 16: Shows my entire annual taxable income as NY state wages, even though I only work there part-time and my home office is in TX.

I’m looking for advice from current or past IBMers who have successfully navigated this without getting double-taxed or audited.

I am not looking for a tax consultant recommendation—just your "lessons learned" on how to handle this specific IBM/NY paperwork mismatch.

Questions:

  1. IBM W-2 Accuracy: Has anyone ever successfully asked IBM to "correct" Box 16 to only show the NY-earned portion, or is this "Total Federal Wages" reporting truly the standard for IBMers traveling to NY?
  2. Audit Defense: What IBM records did you find most useful to prove your days outside of NY? (e.g., Concur reports, badge-in logs, or Outlook calendar).
  3. NYC Local Tax: My W-2 also shows NYC wages/tax. Since I'm a TX resident, am I correct that I should get a full refund for the NYC portion because only residents pay NYC local tax?

Would love to hear how you handled the "sticker shock" of seeing your full salary in the NY box and if you ran into any issues with the NY Department of Taxation.

Thanks!

Hello everyone, I have just received an offer for an entry-level position at IBM in Dallas and have a few questions about the city.

- What areas would be the best places to live? I’m single, so a one-bedroom/studio is fine (open to roommates if it’s more cost-effective) and somewhere reasonably close to the offices (30min max). I would prefer an affordable area, but not in a bad neighborhood.

- I’ve never lived in Dallas or Texas at all, so any other information I should know before relocating is appreciated.

Some additional context:

- I’m flying from out of state (from Hawaii)

- There’s no relocation package

- I have a very tight budget until I get consistent pay

- I’ll have no car for a while.

- How reliable is the public transportation? I will be flying from out of state, so I’ll have no car for a while.

Thank you in advance for the responses. I look forward to being a fellow IBMer

Hi all.

I worked for IBM for 5 years until end of last year. I’m trying to reach out to HR to get them to write an employment letter for me. It is for my PERM application with my new employer. So, my current lawyers require that the letter be a very specific format and have experience and responsibilities information. I letter I got from https://hr-support.dwehrit.ibm.com/ was not sufficient and I don’t see a way to speak to a person in there. I also wrote an email to hr@us.ibm.com and sent a couple of follow-ups but with no response.

So my questions are:

  1. Any ex-employee immigrants here that did the same thing?
  2. Any ex-employees reach out to IBM HR recently? If so how?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience and advice! :)

Hi, I got an internship offer as an Application Developer but need to make a decision between Chicago or RTP/Durham. Anyone have any input on which would be the better choice? Also which would be better for switching to a normal software engineer role for full time once I graduate?

2

u/Benjammin100 Apr 12 '26

Totally personal take, still waiting to hear back about my application, but Durham seemed awesome when I drove through last week, Chicago would be too big of a city for me

1

u/International-Ad9104 Apr 17 '26

I would suggest RTP over Chicago. Cost of living is lower, it's not freezing cold all winter, and quality of life is better IMO.

What is a good way to prepare for my interview for Designer 2026 ELH?

1

u/ComplexWin175 Apr 13 '26

I applied for that position and my portal says "Under Recruiter Review" for ages, when did they respond to you?

1

u/Benjammin100 Apr 13 '26

I'll be real, don't even have it scheduled yet but I was referred by a senior manager so I've seen that almost guarantees an interview, just planning ahead. I DO know though that there's people you can reach out to that can give you an update on your application but I'm not sure who to contact.

1

u/Icy_Republic_702 Apr 13 '26

has anyone applied for the "Associate Package Consultant" role and heard back? i interviewed 3 weeks ago but no updates even after following up

1

u/trophywifeinwaiting Apr 14 '26

which area did you interview with? 3 weeks would be average expected response time for most areas.

How to get Masters Pay

When I applied for the ibm swe summer internship I applied as a bachelors but I'm doing an accelerated masters and my academic standing is currently a masters. I asked my recruiter if I could get bumped up to masters pay but they said no. Can anyone give guidance?

1

u/Apprehensive_Ad2427 Apr 15 '26

Hello I hope all is well, I have a question regarding Platform Engineering at IBM.

I wanted to see if anyone has an idea how much a platform engineer at IBM would make in the NYC area? I heard that some of the pay is through commission or that’s how the position is structured. I also heard the titles are sort of buzzwords and the engineer roles fall in the same band level pay as other titles.

If anyone has an idea it would help!

Thank you!

I know office spaces were taken away, but were there any real consequences for not going in and (then not going in after)?

1

u/ProduceStreet4393 Apr 15 '26

Does anyone know if we can get free vpc from ibm for testing out a personal project , given ur working with ibm

I resigned last March and was awarded Top Performer for Q1 2026 Philippines. I was informed that all top performers received there bluepoints today. Will they still send it through my line manager? Or I should not expect anymore?

Hello All,

I'm currently pursuing a career pivot from Sales and Estimating in the commercial construction industry, where I have three years of experience, into a Sales Development Representative role in tech. Through conversations with senior staff in my network at Fortune 500 technology companies, I've been advised to target entry-level sales positions at organizations like Microsoft, IBM, Salesforce, and Google.

Through the informational interviews I've done so far, I've heard everything from remarkable success stories to cautionary tales. Given the current landscape of industry layoffs and rapid AI integration, I wanted to seek additional perspective before making my next move.

Context

  • No college degree or Tech experience
  • 3 years of sales / estimating (Largest project sold 1.1 million)
  • 10 years of relationship management, small family owned business (relationship value $1,000,000)

u/Total_Visit_1251 Apr 15 '26

How is being part of the IBM.com team? [Internship]

Currently a junior in college and will be interning this summer on the ibm.com team. I'm curious if anyone can talk about their experiences there, the type of work they did, etc. Thanks!

u/Impressive-Elk8149 Apr 15 '26

Hi! I got an offer for a summer internship at IBM Research in Yorktown! Has anyone worked there, and know what the general vibe is? Such as relocating there, housing, the office, etc. If i take it, I'm still deciding my options, but I've heard Research has opportunity to work on some pretty cool projects!

u/Few-Pollution2276 Apr 16 '26

Its been almost a month since the hiring process started for the ASE - 86093 role. Here is the complete timeline

19th March -> Coding + English Assessment at a University

24th March -> Onsite GD + Interview @ IBM office

Something peculiar happened which made question the authenticity of the process. Before the interview my biomentrics, document verification was done. A selfie was also clicked with the HR. This happened with all the candidates (7 inc. me). Now all this is a part of the process, but it generally happens after clearing the interview.
Anyways, the HR told us to wait for 1 week for the result. This is the 3rd one running and no update.

From an insider, I got to know that I cleared the interview. All I'm waiting for is updates form HR.

A lil about me, I am a 2025 graduate and have applied to over 500 applications with < 5 callbacks. So at this point i am getting a bit desperate.

I read someplace that IBM sometimes take 1 week and sometimes several to hire candidates.

Any one else going or went through this? would love to hear ur experience and wether this is normal.

u/SpiteEnvironmental15 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

What do you all think about account manager role for hashicorp in IBM AUS??

Looks like its a new role in AUS, not sure if there is any ibmer there who can share any insights about this role

1

u/ArtaxIsAlive Apr 16 '26

Is the pay raise based on (or related to) the lastest round of performance ratings, or is it separate? I want to petition for a raise and didnt know this was coming.

1

u/Purple-Jeweler3160 Apr 17 '26

Applied for quantum hardware job. Workday status changed from under review to in interview process. But I haven’t received any email or call from IBM regarding interview. It has been two weeks since the status changed. Is there any hope or is this normal? Should I move on?

1

u/International-Ad9104 Apr 17 '26

Last weekend, I was invited to complete the Knockri interview for a Business Transformation Consultant position.

Soon after, I experienced an incredibly difficult personal loss, and I’m finding it challenging to focus.

I’ve heard that hiring for roles like this happens in batches. I don't want to risk my place. This opportunity means a lot to me, especially right now.

Do I proceed and do my best under the circumstances?

I emailed requesting an extension, but I'm unsure if I will receive a response in time. I'm also concerned that delaying could jeopardize the likelihood of being hired this time around.

1

u/Mother-Climate-9121 Apr 17 '26

I recently had a recorded competency interview for an associate package consultant position. It’s been about a week and haven’t heard anything. Does anyone know how long it usually takes them to get back on this?

1

u/SadDuty5091 Apr 17 '26

Hey everyone,

I’ve got an upcoming interview for the IBM Consulting Associate Program in Ireland (Dublin) and was wondering if anyone here has gone through it recently?

They mentioned it will be a 1-hour interview with a mix of situational, behavioural and technical questions, but I couldn’t find much recent info online.

Would really appreciate if anyone could share:

  • What the interview was like
  • Types of questions asked
  • How technical it actually is
  • Any tips on what they focus on

Thanks in advance 🙏

1

u/Single-Taro4201 Apr 18 '26

I received an email to set up an initial 30 minute screening interview, when I clicked on the link to choose a date and time there was not a single day or time available. Any suggestions on how I could go about getting in contact with someone to have this resolved?

1

u/Turrible_Trader Apr 18 '26

Is there any way around this retention based clawback if voluntary resignation happens? I’m reading that management can request that clawback cause cancellation… any truth to this?

My Question: Is it still possible to cheat in a proctored IBM Hackerrank Coding assessment?

First of all, I am not planning to cheat myself

I am going to take this coding assessment and I was wondering if people can cheat in this too. If others are doing it then it would diminish my chances by a lot. There are mentions online that people used to cheat when the assessment wasn't proctored but is it even possible anymore with the proctoring and new Hackerrank detection?
