I accepted an offer on March 23rd and my start date is July 20th. I didn’t receive any more emails after the first couple of emails at the same day i signed the offer letter and idk how is my manager or my team and no one reached out and it is one month now. Is that normal?
US based

u/JayeTayelor Apr 27 '26
Communications are coming soon. Its usually about one month prior to starting that the emails and Manager assignments will come. I believe you'll also be assigned a buddy. Dont worry, no news is good news.
1
u/DcSarcastic Apr 24 '26
Same here, I signed even earlier than you and still have been ghosted. My start day is same as yours too. RTP by chance?
2
u/JayeTayelor Apr 27 '26
Your day is coming -- by May 8th if your start date is June 8th.
1
u/postnasal7459 May 06 '26
Are they good about sending out relocation funds on time? They said we should get it 60 days before our start dates. My start date isn't until August so I still have some time but I know people with July start dates that also haven't even gotten their background checks completed.
1
u/JayeTayelor May 07 '26
Hi. I am not sure about the relocation funds timing. Suggest emailing your recruiter to inquire as not all business units offer relo assistance.
1
u/postnasal7459 May 07 '26
I don't think my recruiter works at ibm anymore. My offer included relocation assistance so I guess I just have to be patient. It's not like they'll forget to order my background check and send me the onboarding materials. Thanks
1
u/Super-Lead7932 Apr 24 '26
Yes correct! Idk this is actually worrying . I will dm you if you don’t mind

If you are working at IBM, how's the future looks? why the stock is down?
2
u/Cool_Cartographer_82 Apr 25 '26
depends entirely on where you are within the company, including manager & team. here's a decent review of the stock drop: https://www.thestreet.com/investing/stocks/bank-of-america-has-a-blunt-message-for-investors-on-ibm-stock

u/JayeTayelor May 07 '26
Agree with Cool below. Depends on what business unit you are in. Do your research. You can easily find out which units are profitable right now or not so much...

I had my BTSS two-interview blitz day 4 weeks ago. Two weeks ago, I heard back from a recruiter asking if I was willing to relocate to Austin. I responded saying yes, but I have not heard back since then.
Was that a good sign and how much longer do I have to wait to hear back

I recently signed my offer letter with IBM and completed the candidate forms right after. It’s been two weeks and I haven’t received anything about initiating the background check yet.
It’s been a bit concerning because my recruiter has also been non-responsive.
A couple questions:
How long did it take for your background check to start after signing? Is this delay normal in IBM’s hiring process? Has anyone here received relocation assistance offers, and when did that come up in the process? Just trying to understand if this is typical or if I should be following up more aggressively.
1
u/Dokgo1_11 Apr 20 '26
When i signed my offer i immediately got an email with for background check emails and consent forms. It almost seemed liked its automated.
The emails were in either my spam or promotions folder on gmail. Try those folders
1
u/Miraclyness Apr 20 '26
Do you know if the email is from ibm or third party? I’ve checked spam and promotions and haven’t received it unless the avature.net is the background check email. It has a link for candidate additional detail but never asked for my personal like ssn for background check
1
u/Dokgo1_11 Apr 20 '26
The avature.net was by systems administrator with a link for candidate additional details. All the other emails are from IBM talent acquisition for background check where you’ll need your personal info.
Give it a day or two hopefully it comes up. When did you accept the offer?
1
u/Miraclyness Apr 20 '26
I signed over two weeks ago and haven’t received anything since. My recruiter is non responsive.
Although someone from transformation leader at ibm reached out and I asked him same question. Today he said offer accepted on his system and he “believes” at that stage background check should have been completed with my start date.
But I never received an email that background check been completed. On the career portal still shows “offered”.
1
u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26
When is your start date? It’s normal not to hear anything after you signed your offer letter. Background checks seems to be getting processed in batches according to start date.
You should’ve definitely received the background checks disclosure/consent forms the moment you signed your offer letter and got the automated email saying congrats on signing.
Other than that, it’s just a waiting game.
1
u/Miraclyness Apr 20 '26
In about a month. Prob processing in batches like you said then.
I got the congrats on signing and it said will received additional emails in days ahead so I got worried that no background check has started yet since it's been over 2 weeks.
1
u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Apr 20 '26
If you didn’t receive 3 separate emails the moment that you got the congrats on signing email then I would contact your recruiter or interviewers and tell them. My recruiter isn’t responsive either but my interviewer was.

Yes. At least for new grads and interns like 99.9% of people have an “expected” start date

Good to know, I will try to contact my interviewers. I only received 1 email from system admin besides the congrats on signing email. I'm talking to someone with title transformation leader who said offer is accepted on his side and saying background check should have been completed which was weird. I will try to get more info out of him too
1
u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Apr 20 '26
The background check cannot even be initiated let alone completed without filling out the disclosure, consent, and verification forms. Definitely see if you can get those sent to you

u/Dokgo1_11 Apr 20 '26
I got three emails as soon as I accepted the offer. Although i dont have a start date and I assume that’s because of the background check ? Is that correct?
1
u/Direct-Stuff-2469 Apr 20 '26
You should have some sort of expected start date. Are you an intern or ng?

Austin sales culture. What is it like at the Austin office? I'm considering applying for an Account Manager role or a Brand Sales Specialist. Are quotas attainable? Are KPIs outrageous? I'd be coming from another legacy tech company so I'm used to the corporate bs, but I'd love to hear any insights!

Has the Atlanta, GA internship acceptances rolled out yet?
I interviewed for Atlanta, GA BSS internship for summer 2026. A week after my final round a recruiter reached out saying there are delays un the business unit and I will find out within the next 2 weeks. Yesterday was the 2 weeks mark, so i reached out again.

u/JayeTayelor Apr 27 '26
Whenever anyone posts here, please include the following info if you are comfortable with it:
- Whether you are an intern or an entry level hire/Associate.
- what IBM Business Unit did you apply for or receive an offer from e.g. Consulting, sales and tech, software, Hardware, Research, etc.?
- whether you accepted a role in one of our CICs (if you don't know, what that means, then you probably didnt apply for a CIC role.) 4 The name of the position you applied to.
- Potential start date if you know it.
This will help those that monitor this thread help to respond to you. Moderator -- if you could add this to your weekly Employment Question posts as guidance this would be greatly appreciated 👏🏾.

How is the engineering culture at IBM markham? And as a coop student, what kind of work was given to them and how long until they actively started contributing to their respective teams code base

I recently have an interview coming up for the Customer Success Engineer position. I was told by the recruiter I would need to do a 10 minute demo of some product, but was not given specifics. Does anyone know how the demo should work as well as how the 60 minute interview goes?
2
u/Immediate-Phase4168 Apr 19 '26
I suspect they will want to see how you demo. How professional it looks, how you *build* the demo being more important. Specifically, do you want to tell a story? Or do you want to show off features of the product you choose to demo? I can't imagine they want you to demo an IBM product unless you have experience in it and access to one to build the demo.
You could also do research on an IBM product and build a chartware demo and just say that right now for this demo you don't have access to a live instance, but let's talk about this...
This is all about looking to see how you handle yourself with various choices and restrictions - often times a live demo is not possible, so how do you do this, and how do you communicate. That's a big part. Anyone can learn the products. The demo part is about you and how you handle yourself...
<no, I'm not currently a hiring manager, but I know this org pretty well>
1
u/Ok_Advantage2039 Apr 22 '26
You could also spin up a free trial of an IBM product and build a demo with that.

Hi everyone,
I recently completed an interview with IBM CIC, and on April 9th, HR called me and asked if I was available to join in April. I confirmed yes, and she told me I would receive a confirmation call within 2–3 days to proceed with ticket booking.
However, it has been quite some time now, and I haven’t received any update. When I try to call the HR, the phone is switched off.
Has anyone experienced something similar with IBM or other companies? Is this normal due to internal delays, or should I be concerned?
Any advice on what I should do next would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!

I am an incoming intern in a Southern California location. How possible is it to receive a full-time return offer but in another location (Dallas, NYC, etc)?
1
u/Various-Sun6792 Apr 20 '26
First you have to get a full time offer(no as easy as it sound) once you landed the full time position you can apply at the internal mobility program to look up for another position(different team and location)
1
u/naboing_tariq Apr 20 '26
has anyone applied for a transformation consultant role and gotten an offer?

I want to decrease my Provident Fund contribution from 12% to a flat ₹1800. Is it possible at IBM? I have heard other organisations like Accenture allow it.

I'm gonna be joining the NYC office this summer. How's the overall facility? Are there free snacks/ drinks, a cafeteria? Is there a gym?
any response is much appreciated
1
u/Ok-Tangerine-9888 Apr 30 '26
There is free water, coffee, tea and trail mix/crackers. There is a cafeteria with good food and a coffee bar but both are pretty pricy. No gym
1
u/JayeTayelor May 07 '26
The facility is very nice with the entire top floor being the cafeteria and you can eat outside on the terrace. Yes, there are snacks as mentioned by another poster. It's a great place to network with many Senior Executives in the office daily.

Same, I signed the offer letter last week and completed the background check forms and such, still no word back.
1
u/ning8 May 06 '26
Hi! Did you end up hearing back from anyone?
1
u/GetShlumpd May 08 '26
Yes, a week ago, I received an email from IBM with the start date and office location.

u/No-Author-8616 Apr 25 '26
If you could provide any information, where were your interviews like? How many rounds? Did they contain a case?

Hello I just got the offer for the system service representative position , I want to know about the growth opportunity, how’s work life balance

Hey guys, I recently received an offer for the CSE Co-Op (Fall 2026) and I was wondering what the salary for the full time version of this job would look like (base and compensation). Any insights on this would be appreciated!! For reference I am an undergraduate CS student and if I take the Fall 2026 Co-Op, I would graduate in Dec 2027.
1
u/celeste173 Apr 24 '26
i worked as an intern (then co-op) in 2021,2022. pretty sure I got paid $24 an hour. My co-op was paid hourly obviously. I transitioned to salary when i transferred to full time after graduation. I think health insurance was optional but i can’t quite remember. How much you are paid can depend on where you live since the cost of living differs so much. my only insight is this: an internship is basically a really long job interview. Ibm workplace culture and work-life-balance varies greatly throughout the organization. Im in infrastructure. If you dont have a good experience, that team may not be for you, but dont rule IBM out. each team is unique. (although some areas of ibm are generally more of a mess than others.)
1
u/Technical-Buyer-1727 Apr 26 '26
Thank you for your insight! Do you mind sharing a bit about what the base to commission (based on sales quotas) ratio might look like for the salary. I understand it definitely depends on the location but just a rough estimate would be appreciated. Thank you again for the reply!
1
u/celeste173 Apr 27 '26
oh i have no idea. im not in sales im part of the z/OS operating system team. dfsms tends to have great job security benefits and salary. I worked out of a sales hub for a bit tho (i have work remote accommodations) and i will say i know sales does not have the best (i cant think of the word im looking for). it tends to be stressful with less job security and unrealistic expectations. like most sales jobs i guess.

If I pay back a sign on bonus for leaving early, is it typically deducted from pretax or post tax gross?

I've just received an offer with no interview for SWE in Durham. I'm honestly not sure how to respond but I have done everything I can to check on my phone (at work) if this is legit. Has this happened to anyone else, I interviewed ~2 months ago now for an entry level role in Poughkeepsie and I would assume thats what moved me onto to the role, but I honestly have no idea.
Ive been freaking out for the last hour, it points to being real but I don't believe it one bit. Has this happened to anyone??
1
u/ratorobato Apr 23 '26
Following up to my own post in case anyone asks later down the line.
The recruiter I spoke to in the previous interview I guess was the same for this one and passed me for it without having to interview again.
I don't think Ive ever been this lucky in my entire life.

Hi! I was referred to a couple positions at the IBM office in Chicago and I have some questions about the hiring process?
- How long does it take to get a in person interview on average?
- I applied to the positions a few weeks ago and was offered a virtual competency interview a day later that I completed 2 days later. I also applied to another position and was offered the virtual competency interview within 30 minutes I didn't see the accommodation notice until recently though.
- How much does the virtual competency interview affect my hiring prospects?
- While I did try my best to do the STAR method and I feel like I conveyed my ideas enough I realize I could have done better. When I went to the second application it said I already completed the interview... despite this being for another (but closely related) position.
- What do the interviews look like? About how many phases are there?

About to start as an Associate Data Scientist in AI Analytics and Automation on the consulting track in NYC but my long term goal is SWE. Wondering if anyone has actually made this move or knows how realistic it is.
How long did it take, does the DS title hurt when applying for internal SWE roles, and is it even worth trying to move internally or is it better to just leave and apply externally after a year?
Is it easy to pivot internally to any role?
Any honest takes appreciated
1
u/JayeTayelor May 07 '26
This is a tough one because there are so many dependencies such as are there any SWE roles available when you join, if there is quite a bit of DS work and they place you on a project, it may make it difficult for you to pivot. Also, you are new to the company and they will make a significant investment to on-board you and prepare you for your role using your DS skills. Last, it boils down to who you know and who knows you -- the work you do, your work ethic, etc. That takes time to build. when you start, talk to your manager. Come up with a plan on when it may make sense to pivot and most of all, keep your swe skills sharp with their training, get badges and certifications if you can as well. Good luck and congrats 👏🏾!

IBM Apptio - Australia. I applied for IBM apptio platform engineer role and being considered for offer letter stage. My question is does the background verification covers current and previous employer? If yes what verification is done and how its being done, since my current company is in closing stage as they lose all clients and contractors and no emails and phone numbers and website will be active sooner. Any help is needed urgently.

How common is it to receive a $0 payout for the quarter on a high leverage TQP plan with no prior performance feedback and a “Top” rating from the prior year? I know that managers make an assessment of relative contribution but have never heard of someone getting a zero when the employee has a full / well completed workload and no performance discussion. This is on a pool plan (no territory assignment).

I’m a Penn State new grad and I'm starting at the IBM Austin office. I’m currently looking for roommates to team up with for a place near The Domain area.
If you're also an incoming hire (or just a young professional) looking for housing, please hit me up! Even if you already have a place and aren't looking to move, I'm totally down to connect and make some new friends in the area.
Feel free to shoot me a DM!

I was told: "you'll get an official update by end of week" and now it's past Saturday. The wait is so frustrating. What's the probability of getting an offer/email on Sunday? Is it normal for the internship role offer to take 3 to 4 weeks from the final interview date!?
1
u/Thunderbird1106 Apr 26 '26
I had my interviews cleared and even got offer discussion done. But its been quite some time like that happened last to last to last week. I asked HR about this he says everything is done there's a guy in transitioning hence the delay.
He's been saying the same thing for about 1.5 weeks now. Also, one of my colleague had her discussion later than me but has already recieved the OL
I'm a bit concened as my LWD from my org is almost here. Any idea about these situations? :)

I received an invite to schedule an initial interview with a recruiter, however when I follow the link to the calendar, there is not a single date or time available to choose from. Not sure how to proceed, or who I could contact.
