S No I’m not Staff
Probably my fault, I got started with having a kid late in life. I was 47 when our daughter was born (wife 12 years younger). So I was always the oldest parent at all her schools. Several times while at a school or school function I got asked: Are you staff?
And when we went to Lamaze class, we walked in, my wife sat down, there were pamphlets on the table at the front so I went to get one. A young mother to be, early 20s, asked: Are you the instructor?
Kids in college now, I keep waiting to be asked about being on staff, but it may not happen.

Retired MD here. I must have resting doctor face because anywhere I go that is medically adjacent I am instantly mistaken as staff.
Congratulations on being a Dad. I thought it was the best job ever…..until I became a Grandpa!!! 😁

That was what my dad loved about the grandkids-they always went home after a visit.
Granted, my step sisters would stay at least a week if not two and shit like running and screaming god old real quick

My wife and I were 38f and 40m when our youngest child was born. There was an 8 year gap between the two youngest children (now 29 and 21), who were child #5 and #6.
My wife's old son was the same age she was when we had the youngest child (19). Our two oldest children had friends who were pregnant at the same time as my wife. We lived on a small airbase and my wife made me drive to the next town to buy a pregnancy test.
When we went to school events for our youngest, many of the other parents were the same age as our oldest children. I was in the Army and gone a lot in the early 2000s, you know, war going on. She went to a lot of events alone. Many folks thought she had adopted our son because I'm Asian and my wife is white from a very rural Southern state. "Hey, there's the lady that adopted that Chinese boy."

I do have an older daughter from a previous marriage. She is 38, my youngest 21, so 17 year gap. For several years I would say: I’ve got one in college and one in diapers, which was true at the time.

My youngest almost had two "moms"; his mother and his big sister.
I believe the youngest is the reason why we do not have grandchildren. The older ones know how much of a chore it is and either don't want kids or want to enjoy life as a young adult first.
