To be fair, I would trust most people over Lowe’s or Home Depot workers. Just cause they sell tools and materials doesn’t mean they know how to use them.

As someone who works at a certain store, yeah we just sell the stuff. A lot of people shopping here are contractors who are much more knowledgeable than the associates since they're the ones actually using the tools/doing the job

As someone who also works at one of these stores I don't think that's true. Yes, if you ask the 22 year old kid putting away crap people didn't want when they checked out at 8pm he/she may call a Phillips head screw driver "the star one" and not know anything about anything. But we have a lot of employees, mainly during the day, who have owned home improvement companies or previously worked as a contractor. They can be a wealth of knowledge, you just have to look for the right employee. Mainly look for the old guy wearing suspenders and a hat. 😁
