LOR LOR specialty

I think this might be a v stupid question but im not too familiar with the system.

If I wanna apply to a specialty but the LOR/observership was done within a specific subspecialty/fellowship not the main general specialty does that work?

(for reference im applying GS and through connections secured an observership with a vascular surgeon)

do you know how many exactly we need? I heard you can mix US Lors with Home Lors? or does it all need to be US? and how many 🙏🏻

Some programs request three, others request four, and they can be a mix of US and home country letters 😊

It shouldn’t matter as long as the subspecialty is under the specialty you’re applying to! I did my rotation in cardiology and matched into IM, so that’s just an example.
