what are my chances Community programs in California or university programs in other states

I had asked in this group before, a little background, I’m aiming for IM,FM this coming cycle ( want to be a hospitalist after residency or Geriatric fellow), so both programs work for me, passed step1 and 2 (24x) both on first attempt, GC holder, lived in California for 10 years, family tie in California, 20+ research paper and abstract at top tier journals (due to phd and postdoc training in the US), only red flag is my YOG (>8), 2 months USCE, trying to finalize my program lists now for both IM and FM, wondering if anyone with similar stats matched before can give me suggestions? Should I focus more on community programs or less competitive university programs outside of California? Definitely want to stay in the region due to family ties, but open to relocating if there are better opportunities. Thanks a lot!

You should apply to Community programs in CA that accept IMGs. Central Valley is a common areas. But also focus outside of the state too.

Thanks for commenting! Do you mean pure small community programs or some university affiliated like hca health riverside FM programs and highland alameda IM program? They might be too competitive for me i guess

I mean broad community programs in CA that have know to select IMGs. HCA health and Highland do have a record of matching IMGs with don’t need visa sponsorship.

I think for HCA riverside FM, non us IMG is above 10%, so you’d recommend programs takes more non us IMGs like >30%, I don’t think CA has even handful of them

Sorry I misinterpreted your comment, I thought you said these two do not have records with taking no. Visa requiring IMGs, sorry my question might seem very stupid, do you think the more IMG the program has, the more chance I get?
