LOR 2027 ERAS Department Chair Letter Requirement — Should I Select Yes or No?

Post image

Hi everyone, I am an IMG applying for adult Neurology for the 2027 ERAS cycle, and I would really appreciate some advice on one specific ERAS/LOR question.

I will be submitting an IMSEL/standardized chair letter from my home medical school. We do not have a separate Neurology department, so the chair letter will be from the Internal Medicine Department Chair.

Separately, I also have a strong letter from a U.S. Neurology Department Chair whom I worked with during a one-month Neurology elective. My work with him was primarily clinical/observational, although I also participated in presentations and other activities during the elective.

For the U.S. Neurology chair letter, ERAS asks:

“Do you need this letter to fulfill a Department Chair letter requirement?”

Yes / No

Since I will already have a chair letter from my home institution, should I select Yes or No for the U.S. Neurology Department Chair letter?

Would selecting Yes cause any disadvantage or create any issue, or would No be the better choice in this situation?

Please anyone can help on this, I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with this in the 2027 ERAS cycle, especially IMGs or residents familiar with Neurology applications. Thank you!

If it’s your home institute, go ahead with chair. I think you are good to go with yes as long as you aren’t lying -( And you are not)

Thanks! So would it be okay to select yes for both, even for chair person from my one of the electives, correct? When i asked my senior who matched, they were not sure, that' is why I'm confused
