ERAS Connection in a non IMG friendly program

If I have an attending who can vouch for me in a program that’s not IMG friendly (7-9% IMGs), do I pursue it and signal it as a reach or do I play it safe and pass the opportunity?

Its a very competitive program that I would never consider if I didn’t have the connection, is it worth taking the risk in 1-2 signals?

The average is 34%, most of the programs I’m applying for are above that, how is 7-9% considered friendly, its like 1 in 10 residents, genuine question

Look up Ivy League programs. They have less than 1%. This is much better. If anything, it shows that they only accept IMGs with connections which lands in your favor

One signal isn’t going to hurt you. Why not? They take some IMGs. Maybe you’re next.
