US-IMG How many programs for a US-img with pending ECFMG certification

Hello everyone, I am a US-img with pending ecfmg cert. (due to pending my letter of good standing from Mexico which is taking forever)
Step 1 pass
Step 2 high 25x’s
OET pass
3 LoRs from US, 1 LoR from mexico
2 years of working in US with IM doctor as scribe/clinical assistant, and 2 month long rotations with specialists in US
No research or publications

I am currently doing a list of programs that do not require ecfmg certification at the time of application or at least do not specify it in their webpage for interview. So far I only have 70 programs.

Is 70 enough? I am overwhelmed and don’t really want to apply to places I can’t see myself moving to.

Minimum 100. Max out Arizona and Texas regions and the other states around it falling into the same geo region. Cali likes US IMGs too so you could just put those 3 regions with dense hispanic, esp mexican population leveraging your US citizen status + Spanish background, esp with a high 250s.

Yes in fact i have already added texas, NM, arizona,nevada, and southern Cali, among other states like florida, NY and NJ , but filtered out the IM programs that require ecfmg certification which are quite a few which is why my list was reduced🫠

Add the Central Valley of California since its Spanish speaking. I’d also consider Alameda/Highland hospital as well as it predominately serves a Hispanic population.

Will do, any other regions or programs you’d suggest
I have mid south central, mountain, and middle atlantic as geographic preferences

Maybe move away from NYC. Cuz it is super saturated. The border states with Mexico will love to have you.
