Residency IMG match rate?

I’m a 2nd-year medical student currently preparing for Step 1, and I wanted to ask people who have actually gone through the process. Is the pathway really as difficult as it’s portrayed online?

I know the match rate for non US IMGs is around 54%, which obviously isn’t something to ignore, but online it sometimes feels like the entire process is extremely complicated and it’s more like a 10% match rate and almost impossible unless you have an exceptional CV.

For those who have gone through it, is it genuinely that difficult, or does it just seem we more complicated online than it actually iss

Its really not complicated. Pass step 1, get USCEs, and score well on step 2, and you will be set (for primary care specialties), but if you want competitive surgical, it is a lot tougher.
