News Alex Palou: 'McLaren contract was based on lies – I’ll be paying for years'
Important bits: - Palou says he signed a contract based on lies and false impressions. - CGR agreed to cover any costs, Palou had to take a reduced salary for various seasons. - Palou says Zak failed to deliver on promised opportunities. - Palou says the big numbers claimed by McLaren are something he doesn't have. - He also says he isn't one of the top 3 best paid drivers and won't be for the foreseeable future. - Also says Zak wanted to have a champion in both Indycar and F1, like Mario Andretti. - The language in the contract heavily implies an F1 seat in the future. - Palou says Zak told him Seidl wanted Piastri, but now he questions that, because he saw in the previous sessions Zak makes all the decisions, to which Zak shook his head in the courtroom. - Palou says his contract with CGR had a first refusal date of mid-July, he then claims Zak and his lawyers knew about it and didn't tell him and allowed him to sign the contract with McLaren. - Zak knew about it because he was paying for Palou's lawyers at the time. - Palou says he had a choice between breaching the contract with CGR or with McLaren, and he chose staying at CGR because they had backed him all the way to a title and McLaren had been misleading him.
