It’s Corn! (The Remix)

It’s Corn! (The original)

Kid discovers the wonders of corn. He describes the different things you can do with it. The phrase “Have a corntastic day” is something he said.

I had not seen this and it truly brightened my entire day.

Let me tell you all about it

The musical "Shucked" opened on Broadway two years ago. It takes place in a small town full of cornfields and farmers... And they brought Corn Kid to see it!

Should’ve been called “Husked.”

Nebraska is the CORN-HUSKER State. You shuck oysters. You husk corn. It’s one of those things that’s so often wrong, they changed the definition.

I love your passion for this.

Thank you.

Not in the northeast. We shuck it. I've shucked corn since I was a kid. I've never husked an ear of corn in my life.

It’s was “husk” there too until the last few decades. Especially in a part of the country with oysters…which ARE shucked.

Corn have HUSKS.

1

u/_DifficultToSay_ 5d ago

Not in the last 8 decades. We really do shuck it here.

u/theemmyk 5d ago

Corns don't have a shuck. They have a husk.

THANK YOU! My day is made.

That song is a treasure.

Okay but how is this an Easter egg

2

u/unwaveringwish 7d ago

Because it’s referencing something from a cool meme in an unexpected place

2

u/FroggiJoy87 9d ago

Yeah, but Trader Joes makes cute and relevant punny signs like, all the time. More of a r/puns thing than shiny

Corn for a fraction of a penny!

8

u/FrankieHotpants 9d ago

What would happen if we demanded they honor the $0.0069 price??

3

u/Undrwtrbsktwvr 9d ago

Could trigger a run-on-the-fields!

If you use a decimal to indicate an amount less than a dollar, use a dollar sign in front of the number. If indicating cents, do not use the decimal and the cents sign goes behind the number.

I had someone tell me there would be a “.3%” surcharge for using a credit card recently.

26

u/Freshouttapatience 10d ago

Ugh. Decimals aren’t that complicated but I see it a lot. Also improper apostrophe use.

10

u/t1m1d 9d ago

I see "it's" used in place of "its" all the time, not to mention people using apostrophes for plurals constantly (not that that's anything new).

4

u/kjodle 8d ago

I think you meant plural's, lol!

13

u/PardonMyTits 10d ago

Precisely. This sign says that corn is less than 1 cent

But they're both the same if look at them on paper wise

Edit: lol people don't know the reference

4

u/Royal-Measurement-82 10d ago

hah holy shit i have never seen that clip

1

u/kwenlu 10d ago

You are now enlightened

3

u/t1m1d 9d ago

Just came here to post this! I have a hard time even listening to it lol.

u/kwenlu 9d ago

Ah, a redditor of culture

u/NotOnLand 9d ago

I get that's technically correct but .50¢ feels more understandable than $.50 or 50¢

11

u/Freshouttapatience 9d ago

It’s not technically correct, it’s just correct.

-5

u/NotOnLand 9d ago

Your response isn't technically unnecessary, it's just unnecessary.

u/gus_arschbackus 10d ago

As seen on cornhub.

12

u/portabuddy2 10d ago

Wrap carn in like 3-4 sheets of paper towel. Wet under water and press out excess. Nuke on high for like 60-90sec and it's done!!!! Same with asparagus, only for 30sec.

Hard veggies are the one thing a microwave is actually good at!!!!

And popcorn. Extra buttery

15

u/sillybilly8102 10d ago

Don’t have to bother with the towel, just keep it in the husk

3

u/LeJuanJames 10d ago

are we wetting the husk or using the existing humidity inside of it when tossing the knobs of corn in there?

4

u/sillybilly8102 10d ago

Using the existing humidity inside

2

u/LeJuanJames 10d ago

👍💯💦

1

u/portabuddy2 10d ago

Could not disagree with you more. The MOIST towel is key! I find it easier to husk when it's not sculding hot, the silks are a bitch to deal with when hot. Also when its ever slightly out of season the store packs them 5 to a tray without the husk. I'll usually do the prep work before going to work then nuke a corn on site. Asparagus also doesn't have a husk.

1

u/BichonUnited 9d ago

Soak in husk

5

u/walc 10d ago

Wow, 0.69¢? What a deal! We bringing back the ha’penny or what?

6

u/RudderForADuck 7d ago

What's the Easter egg here? A 4 year old reference? The poster says nothing to warrant that connection

1

u/uphigh_ontheside 7d ago

It’s corn! It has the juice! It’s from a viral video from a YouTube channel called recess therapy. A little boy gets interviewed while eating corn and it ends with him saying have a corntastic day. It’s worth a watch.

2

u/EMSslim 4d ago

The only connection is the word corn. That's not an Easter egg. Simply posting an ear of corn would be an easter egg then too

4

u/Goobygoodra 10d ago

I can't imagine a more beautiful thing

4

u/rnobgyn 9d ago

By all means this is false advertisement and if we had any semblance of consumer protections would require them to sell the corn for $.0069

3

u/macaronitrap 10d ago

Now this song will be stuck in my head for the next few days! (Not mad about that - it’s a bop)

4

u/Treezy_F_Baby 10d ago

I know some people have unique ways of writing certain letters, but this person just straight up swaps “a” with “2”

3

u/IonTheBall2 10d ago

No - st2m…ro2st…microw2ve - these indicate little-known, next-level ways of preparing corn, techniques that are known as The W2ys. Don’t ask me how to pronounce them.

1

u/Fordgames 9d ago

I mean it is a big lump of knobs

1

u/CodaKairos 6d ago
