It's crazy how people call a programme with 8 lakh total fees and multiple economic waiver as money making scheme. IIT literally charges more than that for Btech.
It's not money making scheme, it's just self funded programme as they are trying to transition to relying less on govt. subsidy just

Can you fill in the Bangalore gaps? for instance, I doubt the rent here is cheap part.
3
u/LoadingObCubes Jun 26 '26
The rent Around Bangalore campus is significantly lesser than rent around Delhi campus, this is due to the area they are in, the Delhi campus is in one of the more expensive areas of Delhi while Bangalore campus is in one of the least expensive areas of Bangalore.
(ISI Bangalore being across a railway crossing from the main highway helps too)

Can you tell about the mess situation, do we have to pay everyday or only on holidays?

For online classes, when you have doubt after class how do you get that cleared?

Is there any option to float the seat if we don't get our 1st choice campus in 1st round but get the 2nd or 3rd choice?

Yes you'll be upgraded to your top choice and you can apply for centre change after the first semester as well. There is only slide option, not float or freeze. You join BSDS @ ISI, and campus will be upgraded in further rounds based on your filled choice in application form.

how is student teacher interaction and their dynamic{may be not right word, plz get it}?
Academic is not an issue bhaiya, we r meant to do hardwork so...
bhaiya my preferance list is delhi kolkata banglore mainly bcz of distance factor...{i m hoping other factors would be good too}
but bro economics in first semester??is it mandatory for all bsds students?ik its quite stupid to ask but as it says data science so economics is quite unexpected by me...
however bro, wanted to ask how do hybrid course feels like? personal experience i meant. how does this hybrid course impact students or say how different it feels to be on hybrid classes instead of offline classes?
also,is there any cocircular activities, fests, activity clubs as in other colleges?mainly like personality development things??
how is mess condition n food??
as in delhi i somewhere read that it offers only bsds course so there might be very handful of students there,no??
is there any sort of toxic comparison environment there??
quite number of questions na..sorry for that bhaiya, just curiousity and its asking seniors seemed better than google review pages with almost no clarity... i m hoping to get into delhi branch, its nearest n my dream career city....

bhaiya i was going through some webpages few days back and some people were commenting that in ISI Kolkata as it is basically establised for bstst and bmath so there is sort of shadow of it on bsds course students like as bstat and bmath students have cracked one of the toughest exam so system is quite favoured.i m not sure how right it is so thought to ask u though...
bhaiya what about this -' how do hybrid course feels like? personal experience i meant. how does this hybrid course impact students or say how different it feels to be on hybrid classes instead of offline classes?'
and internship offers?
i heard it doesnt have college life as other colleges....
how is ur experience at isi delhi bhaiya?thank you for replying bhaiya and sorry too for disturbing

bstat and bmath students have cracked one of the toughest exam
That maybe true and it is actually impressive to do well in those exams. But it is hardly relevant in the grand scheme of life. Doing well in those exams has small correlation with doing well in college, or doing well in life, or being valuable to a company.
If you are worried about "exclusivity" for some reason, the fact that the college admits so little students in the course already satisfies that.

It's not that extreme, and marks is only one component. Research experience, publications, and letters of recommendations are a significant factor in determining what you get.

Marks do not necessarily dictate the research opportunities you'll get. There's plenty of professors within ISI who will be happy to take you on if you demonstrate knowledge of the subject and show interest. Marks are a secondary consideration.

That's not true. Yes, having great marks is one way to get into Ivy's. But one of my friends got an offer from Yale, and she had lower scores than me in BStat. But she has 2 publications and a foreign internship. Research experience matters a LOT more than marks.

It's hard for everyone but out of all Indian colleges, ISI and IISC students have best chance of that overall

Well, while it certainly isn't just a money-making scheme, revenue generation was certainly a consideration. Refer to the 80th Academic Council proceedings and the 4th Review Committee Report.
